Authorities ID teen killed in Palmdale shooting [UPDATED]

PALMDALE – Authorities have identified the teenager who was fatally shot in Palmdale Wednesday night.

He was 17-year-old Kristopher Baca of Palmdale, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

The shooting was reported around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, on the 38600 block of 11th Street East, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded to a shots-fired call and found Baca in a driveway suffering from gunshot wounds, sheriff’s officials said.

Baca  was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident remains under investigation, and no further information was immediately released.

Anyone with information on this fatal shooting is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Tipsters may also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.

UPDATE: According to various media reports, Baca was involved in a hit-and-run crash in Venice on Aug. 6, 2021, near Speedway and Galleon streets. Video from the crash showed a car striking a woman who was pushing an 8-month-old child in a stroller. The mother was thrown over the hood of the car. Both she and the child survived.

The motorist who struck them kept driving but was chased down by onlookers. He was 15 at the time, but police said he was under the influence of drugs. The case gained some attention when prosecutors sought only a short sentence for the teen — who was already on probation — at a juvenile probation camp. The woman who was struck told Fox11 on Friday, Jan. 20, that she was saddened by the news of his death.

“The universe delivered the justice we weren’t given in court, but a much harsher punishment than he’d have been dealt in a court of law,” the woman said.

Because he was a child of God, and his family is mourning a tremendous loss. And us as humans have no obligation to spread hate. He may have done awful things in his young, troubled life and I’m sorry that he inflicted any pain on anyone. I am sorry he was still so young to redeem himself to some people but thank God that our Lord is a forgiving merciful God. I mean no disrespect to your post at all. Just showing you a different point of you.

This post seems like Thomas Golden doesn’t even know what the story is, he’s just stirring outrage and namecalling. The “child who got murdered” here IS the person that Danny is being forgiving about. Golden’s comment doesn’t even make sense.

I don’t get it who are any of us to say what is justice, and that he got what he deserved? Its very easy to stand on the sidelines and say punishment fits the crime. Truth be told we are told to follow the laws of the land that being said, when the DA and the court system came up with the punishment for his crime that’s what it is. He was sentence to whatever his punishment was after that he is no longer under trial for what he did. But yet I see all these judges and lawyers on here still judging this child because that is what he is. We don’t live in a perfect world if we did I for one would be bored walking around like a zombie. I’m not condoning what this child did . But I will not stand here and continuously holding his prior mistakes over his head. He is dead now so whatever sins, or mistakes he has made have now been paid in full. Everyone talking about God and what not well he says that we need to show compassion for everyone even those TERRIBLE SINNERS. God also says that we shall not judge Matthew 7:1_5 “Do not judge, or you too will be judge. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. RIP YOUNG MAN, CONDOLENCES TO YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND ALL THAT HAVE BEEN IMPACTED BY YOUR LOSS.

I don’t understand why people find money to give to these money grab GFMs when there are such better causes out there. No one needs $10K for a burial. I came up with my own money for an urn, didn’t take time off from work. Enablers.

He is still God’s child he has no blood on his hands , you all who are here cheering his death have blood on your hands now. You have satisfied the devil. No you haven’t physically killed anyone but by condoning his death in the eyes of the lord you just did. Try to make it to confession this week the lord will forgive you children of Satan.

Ma’am, with all due respect, what is it? How is he God’s child and everyone else is children of Satan. I believe that if you read your Bible, you would know that Jesus calls everyone children of Satan. We are all God’s creation, but you need to be born again to be called a child of God. Confession’s don’t work, repentance does. If this man died in sin without being forgiven, then he is NOT in heaven, he is not in purgatory, because it doesn’t exist. If that young man chose that lifestyle, he chose HELL as his permanent residence.

This is so sad. A mother lost her son. I understand what he did in the past ( or so the article says) but he was a child. Mom claims to be a single mom in the go fund me and when you’re trying to work, support, provide and parent your child- people need help! I know people are going to say they did ( fill in the blank) so their child wouldn’t get in to trouble. Not all children are easy or have easy personalities, but it doesn’t mean they are trash or any less loved. Some people need more help than others, have some compassion and save your trash comments for another story.

Not or so the article says, he was on probation for a felony when he hit the woman and her 8 month old and tried to run. If not for a guy stopping him with his truck he would have gotten away with his crime.

It sad that he died and I feel for his family, but anyone who couldn’t see where his path was leading him is a fool.

Arguing and fighting over a person , who was most likely a terrible person, is pointless.

These comments make it clear how backwards and screwed up our society is. The people defending him are probably just his “ boys” . Maybe they do the same stuff… idk… he is gone… get over it!

There are plenty of current terrible people to be concerned about that are out there causing havoc.

It is nice that the woman who was struck by the vehicle he was driving felt appropriate sadness at the demise of another human. That is compassionate.
BUT, ‘the universe’ does not pull a trigger to kill. She is wrong about that.
If we start to sanction frontier justice, we achieve two things: the justice system itself gets a free pass to fail or neglect anything it chooses and the justice delivered is enabled by anyone who does decide to pull the trigger. Anyone.
To willingly kill without remorse or conscience is to lose an important attribute of civil living and of civilization.

Find them and serve them some justice, how about that!!!!!!

He was 17 years old, not 15. Maybe even closer to 18 than 17. Any 17 year old knows that if you accidentally run over a baby in a baby carriage, you stop to try to help it. He instead had no thoughts for the mother and baby he had hit, and instead tried to escape.

But he’s dead because the district attorney did not give him an appropriate sentence. Regardless of whether he had been tried as an adult, or sentenced as a juvenile he should have either been in prison or Youth Authority. If he had been, he most likely would have been alive today.

I have more sympathy for the mother and child that he hit, that had to be aware that to District Attorney Gascon, her life and the life of her child was only worth a few months of easy camp time. Time after time, Gascon’s easy sentences result in death and tragedy for others.

Amen I agree. I am sorry he was troubled. Im sorry for the pain he inflicted on the woman and child. Grateful they did not die and are alive. He was very young, and we have no clue if he would have overcome his troubled youth because he was still so young. May he now Rest in Peace. And may the Lord comfort his mother as he took his child home so young. My heart breaks for her, may she take comfort in the fact he is now resting in Paradise. My deepest condolences.

Part of the problem is the criminals not being punished and if they were this young guy would still be alive. So one could argue he was killed by the broken justice system. And we could use a few Paul Kersey types regulating these days if the elected won’t.

There’s a few moments in drug use that are profound.
The moment you acquire the substance.
The moment you realize that whatever pain you are suffering from (boredom, pain, etc.) will soon be relieved, at least for a while – until the drug wears off.
The moment that you are about to introduce the substance to your tissues: the decision point.
The suspended moment(s) as the drug has not yet had effect but you are anticipating it.
The moment the effect begins, and the ride upward and outward from where you were, to points away and perhaps unknown from the boredom or pain (or …) that needed relief.
The moment the effect(s) begin to fade, as the reality of boredom or pain (or …) returns.
The moment you realize all you have been through, and begin to either make the drug use a habit or keep it as a notable experience.

All along the way people could make mistakes in any of these moments – run afoul of the law, make a mistake of motor skills/control, make a mistake of habit/abuse, make a financial mistake…

Mistakes are a human trait – they are important for learning.
If someone is learning, great. If not, they need help.
If they are malicious and vile, then help might be particularly harshly metered.

At some point speaking the straightforward truth became “talking crap”. That’s a big part of the problem we have in America today. Truth in it’s simpilist form does not take a team to desipher. “It is what it is* was how I was raised and obviously what we need to go back to. At 16 years of age a individual is long past knowing what is good and moral behavior. Simply put- Sometimes the TRUTH hurts!

“How do you know it was intentional?”

Katie shut up, his parents clearly did not care about him as they let him run feral.

My parents knew were I was 24/7, they knew how long it took for me to get back from school, and if I was late by more than 20 minutes I would get the wooden spoon.

Where were his parents when he ran over a mother and baby? Where were his parents when he poisoned a girl?

It’s the weak and soft upbringing and punishment from the justice system that got him killed.

The parents and the justice system let a feral kid roam the streets free that is why he is dead. Better he is dead than an innocent being killed.

This kid was clearly not a good kid. Parents need to be held accountable as well. They should have actually been parents and had him at home instead of running the streets. I do not feel sorry for him what so ever. He was already on probation for poisoning someone and he could have killed this mother and her child. So, karma did it’s job.

Sorry Dan, but you are a judgemental rectum.

Parents do the best they can in the circumstances they get, and one reality of those circumstances is that no one goes into it prepared. Jack Smith might THINK parenting is simple, you just go in with a wooden spoon and bully the kid and since it worked on him it always will. You might think…well, whatever it is that you think…but every parent is a novice that has never done it before and just hopes they get enough things right that it turns out.

Now you are attacking some parents who are already wondering how it all went so bad that their son is dead, and that shows that the world might be just as well off without you as you are saying it is without him.

Tim Scott is a malignant fixture of this website (and the world) and his logic (or lack thereof) routinely defies standards of honest ethical community standards. In fact, he vehemently promotes anarchist positions and his comments reflect his inability to analyze facts and evidence and reach a logical conclusion.
Case in point, the deceased Baca in this article did intentionally run down and mother pushing a stroller in Venice California a few years back. The criminal complaint, and Baca’s subsequent conviction of the crime, clearly established intent. The evidence showed that not only did Baca intentionally hit the mother with child, but he then intentionally accelerated away from the scene in an attempt to flee, and had to be restrained by witnesses who eventually prevented his escape. He was found to be under the influence of multiple controlled substances at the time of the hit and run. He was also on probation for the felony intentional spiking of a drink of a female minor high school victim. The family clearly had no control over the crazed and destructive Baca. Only they know if they contributed to his delinquency.
Yet Tim Scott denies these conclusions and demands that YOU do his homework and spoon feed him evidence that has been well known to the world prior to young Baca’s inevitable death.

So, here we have another bald faced liar.

Hammer claims to have seen a criminal complaint, from what would be the sealed file of a juvenile offender. Even if they saw such a thing, there was no “clearly established intent” in the case. There WAS a hit and run, clearly established by a guilty plea. There was also video evidence that the guy couldn’t even keep a car on the road, much less successfully aim it at someone. Did he attempt to flee? Yes, as evidenced by the guilty plea on the hit and run charge. Was there ‘clearly established intent’? Apparently not since other charges that would have required intent were dropped.

But Hammer wants to throw in a ton of unsubstantiated claims, many of which it is fair to say he knows nothing about because any evidence regarding such claims is just plain out of reach if it did exist. His purpose is…I dunno, what?

Tell us Hammer, what is so important to you here that it makes you abandon telling the truth in such an obvious way? I get that you don’t like me. There are people I don’t like, but I don’t let that turn me into a liar, but maybe you are different. Maybe “I don’t like someone,” in your mind, justifies bald faced lying.

Interesting interpretation of the video. Here’s a different one: he lost control coming around that corner that is in the background (during the part of the video that all the “we want justice” right wing news sites edit out) and was going to bounce that car off the concrete wall no matter what. He didn’t have enough control to even keep the car on the street, much less aim it at someone intentionally.

Now, which interpretation is “what really happened”?
