Deputy involved in three-vehicle crash in Palmdale

PALMDALE – A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy was involved in a three-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Palmdale, authorities said.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, in the 1500 block of Palmdale Boulevard, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The deputy was traveling westbound in a patrol car when the patrol care struck the rear of another vehicle, pushing it slightly into oncoming traffic, where it clipped an eastbound vehicle, Koerner said.

Two people in the eastbound vehicle complained of pain and were taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment, sheriff’s officials said. The deputy was also taken to a hospital for treatment of “non-significant injuries.”

A source at the scene said the patrol vehicle rear-ended a Honda Accord, sending it into the path of a Honda Pilot SUV. No further information on the incident was immediately released.
