GORMAN – A crash involving two big rigs snarled traffic for miles Wednesday morning on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway near Gorman and left one person injured.
The collision was reported at about 7 a.m. Jan. 10, near Smokey Bear Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A person who was trapped in the wreckage was freed by firefighters and airlifted to a hospital, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The patient suffered a severed leg, according to ABC7. No other injuries were reported.
All southbound lanes were blocked for a time while crews worked to clear the scene. By late morning, two lanes had been reopened. The cause of the crash was under investigation. No further information on the incident was immediately available.
