Man killed, man critically injured in two-vehicle crash in Lancaster

by City News Service • October 23, 2023

LANCASTER – A female driver was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and drunken driving for allegedly triggering a crash Saturday night that killed one man and critically injured another one, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 11:57 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Sierra Highway and Avenue L-8, according to a watch commander at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lancaster station.

The woman’s vehicle was going northbound on Sierra Highway when it rear-ended another vehicle, the watch commander said. The two men in the second vehicle were rushed to a hospital, where the passenger died from his injuries and the motorist was listed in critical condition. Their names were not immediately released.

The female motorist that allegedly triggered the crash was not injured. She was later arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter. Her name was not released. It was not immediately known if she was the lone occupant inside her vehicle.

The woman was driving a Chrysler 200, which struck a Toyota Tacoma, according to a source at the scene.
