PALMDALE – A 45-year-old female driver died early Saturday morning when a big-rig crashed into her disabled car on the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway in Palmdale, authorities said.
The fatal collision happened around 2:55 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, on southbound State Route 14, south of 10th Street West, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The female driver was in a 2008 Honda Civic traveling southbound on State Route 14 when her vehicle crashed into a right side guard rail and became disabled within the number 3 lane, according to the CHP report. A 2016 International semi truck subsequently crashed into the disabled Civic, and the female driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP.
Her name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification, but she was a 45-year-old resident of Littlerock, according to the CHP report.
The rig’s driver, 58-year-old Yahweh Yahweh of Victorville, was not injured in the collision, the CHP report states.
“The involvement of alcohol and/or drugs as a factor in this crash is unknown at this time,” the CHP report states.
