Garage fire and explosion under investigation in Palmdale

by The AV Times Staff • April 14, 2023

PALMDALE – A fire and an explosion possibly involving fireworks damaged a garage in Palmdale early Thursday morning, but no one was hurt.

Firefighters were sent to a residential property around 2:20 a.m. Thursday, April 13, in the 38600 block of Fourth Street East, and they extinguished the flames in about 15 minutes, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. According to an unconfirmed report, an explosion occurred that apparently involved fireworks being stored at the location.

Neighbors said someone had been setting off fireworks in front of the home earlier in the evening. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was notified about the incident.

I can think of a fair number of people that would call this natural justice. In fact, those people will be even more satisfied when the fireworks shooter finds out that their homeowners insurance provider is probably going to casually deny their claim because their damages are the result of illegal activity.

Come to think of it, I am one of those people myself.
