The 4 years of the Trump administration increased the debt we have accrued over 240 years by 25%. That doesn’t seem possible, but it is. That’s what happens when you cut taxes to the rich and then have to face a global pandemic.

Now don’t think that the Republicans haven’t given this a lot of thought. One of the ways they decided to punish themselves for their own irresponsibility is to refuse to raise the debt ceiling until the Democrats agree to cut Social Security and Medicare.

Think about that for a minute.

Hi Tweedledumb, or are you Tweedledumber? The use of misspelling to break the rules, which will no doubt be followed by braying about censorship is a dead giveaway.

Meanwhile, do you have sex with everyone you meet? Every bar needs someone like that on staff. Is that why your husband keeps you around?

ANYWAY, I had one defendant come in and there he was with his attorneys and all and he really never said or did anything, and the entire experience was really just a formality to him. We went through years of delays, continuances, and motions, but in the end, the slow wheels of justice did in fact levy punishment upon the guilty defendant.
Attorneys and DA’s all made out, all built reputations and careers upon those machinations. It was a huge push up, coasting taxpayers and the defendant $$$, but the result was as I expected all along.

Then, I had another defendant who just sort of rolled over, copped a plea, said he was sorry and got his punishment, and – since it was a first offense – we suspended the sentence and issued probation.

The non-stop rolling out of crises is analogous to Lucy and Ether in the candy factory.

There is a conveyer belt rolling out politcal stunts, not all at once, mind you but one after another conveyer fashion.

Sometimes the events start speeding up and the politicians and the news media and SNL have a hard time keeping up with the onslaught.

        Hilarity ensues. Or disaster.

Correct, and here are the differences…

            Trump: had declassification authority

            Biden: zero declassification authority

Trump: one secure location (secret service)

            Biden: multiple unsecured locations

            Trump: national archives was aware

            Biden: national archives wasn’t aware

LOL…so let me get this straight.

You are saying that Biden has found documents that no one, including the national archives, even knew were missing, which implies they were most likely ‘use and destroy’ copies to begin with that somehow slipped through the cracks in some staffer’s workload and didn’t get destroyed.
You are also recognizing that the national archives had been trying for the better part of two years to get Trump to return documents that he had taken with no legal authority, ultimately having to have the FBI retrieve them by force.
And your conclusion from this is that “Trump was doing better because the national archives knew he had them.”

I have to ask, are you Tweedledumb or Tweedledumber? It is scary to think that any third person could take such a ridiculous position.

So I had this one defendant who exercised the #$*& out of the justice system. Hired attorneys who only sought to delay and continue the argument. After years of rabbling, and nary a word in court from the defendant himself, we was found guilty, charged and a sentence rendered.
It made careers and $$$ for the defendant’s attorneys and for the DAs involved. Some thought it a circus.

Then there was another defendant who admitted the error, made it known he was remorseful, and sought only swift conclusion. We gave him a suspended sentence and probation.

I doubt it. You told him your “version” of events and we know how that works.

One of the features of current Christians is HYPOCRISY and you are an example.

Anyway, your reply is why the Christian brand is in decline like the Trump brand. Decades and more of the hypocrisy and lying by Christians has ruined the brand.

Church attendance is down and that’s good. Too much tax-exempt money funneled into politics in the name of religion.

“In a 1797 treaty with Tripoli, in fact, the United States specifically pronounced that it was not a Christian nation, so that religion would not present a barrier in American-North African relations.”

If you think otherwise as some misguided Christians are now doing, you are way, way incorrect.

You are a sinner but calling others sinners is a non-starter and is why your Christian brand is in decline.

What would be the best outcome is for Chirst to return in exchangee for the Rapture taking away all the so-called Christians.

          It’s a win/win.

Face it. If the current American Christians were around when Christ returnes they would crucify him again. That’s how they roll.

“Take” in what way? The “private industry” in the central valley is agriculture and the rawest of raw material production in the energy sector. The ONLY good job in agriculture is owning the farm. The ONLY good job in oil drilling is owning the well. Like it or hate it, defense is the last bastion of American manufacturing jobs, and the people who are always yammering about how manufacturing jobs are the greatest don’t have all that many places to look other than here.

It’s interesting that in his desperate bid to become speaker of the house one of the things Kevin McCarthy horsetraded away was a commitment to stand for a reduction in defense spending that would throw the Antelope Valley portion of his district into a catastrophic localized recession. Despite this trade off, he is backed by Mike Garcia, the other ‘representative of the Antelope Valley’s interests.’

There was a time when the AV electorate was 90% republican, even though probably half of them where ‘hold your nose’ republicans. A hold your nose republican was someone who voted faithfully for Buck McKeon not because the GOP’s ‘southern strategy’ of openly playing to racists (which was just plain gross), but because McKeon was on the house defense appropriations committee and would trade a vote for anything anyone in congress wanted to do if they would support a project that dumped money into the AV like it was being printed in Gorman and released onto the wind.

Now we have these two clowns out to destroy our economy for…I dunno even what they are trying to get for it. And they are supported by local voters because…well, I honestly can’t explain that either.

The house republicans appear to be healing their “great divide.” The question of how great the divide really is comes cleared on the twelfth vote for speaker. The leader of the resistance, an election denier who supported the attempt, two years ago today, to overturn the election and appoint Donald Trump president, who yesterday nominated Donald Trump to be speaker of the house, lost a lot of his supporters to the “establishment Republican” who is also an election denier who supported that attempt to abandon our constitutional republic, who had his name put into nomination by an election denier that supported the attempt to overthrow the government but shamelessly included in his nomination remarks a ‘salute’ to those who helped prevent his own efforts from succeeding on that day.

United in their insurrectionist scumbaggery, the GOP carries on.

But if it makes you feel better, go with the “supported the attempt, two years ago today, to overturn the election and appoint Donald Trump president” part. Jeffries said, “there is a cloud of illegitimacy around the election of Donald Trump

“because of the “fake news industry.”
Jeffries said the “legitimacy” of the 2016 presidential election was “in doubt.”

Jeffries claimed there is “a cloud of illegitimacy…hanging over” the Trump White House.

Jeffries tweeted “the more we learn about 2016 election the more ILLEGITIMATE it becomes.”

Jeffries said “there is clearly a cloud of illegitimacy hanging over 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue that’s growing bigger by the day.”

Jeffries claimed Republicans “cheat[ed]” in the 2016 presidential election.

Jeffries suggested multiple congressional seats were “stolen by rogue Republican operatives.”

Jeffries suggested Trump was an “illegitimate president” or a “Russian asset.”

Jeffries claimed Russia “artificially” put Trump in the White House.

Jeffries said there was a “cloud of illegitimacy that continues to hang over” the Trump presidency.

Jeffries tweeted “the cloud of illegitimacy hanging over 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. grows stronger by the day.”

Jeffries accused Republicans of “trying to steal the [2020] election.”

Jeffries said “history will never accept” Trump “as a legitimate President.”

Republicans have shown themselves to have no ethics, morals or integrity. Without integrity, things just don’t work as designed.

That’s why they are having such a hard time of it electing a Speaker of the House.

    No integrity. No workability.

Whatever faults the Democrats have, they know how to make the system work the past couple years with obstruction by the GOP. The Republicans can’t govern. Why that isn’t more obvious is part of the problem.

Rep. Kakeem Jeffires has “won” the counts 8 times in a row with 212 votes. In a rational universe, the Republicans should give it up and elect him with 6 Republican votes.

Oh, they might finally elect someone, anyone to get it done. But the unworkability of the Republican Party will be a prominant feature the next 2 years.

    You can quote me.

LOL…there is NO ONE being represented other than anarchists. These goobers ‘represent’ the same movement that primaried up candidates all over the board who LOST despite republicans winning the turnout battle. If it were not for them and people like them the GOP would have a commanding majority in the house and would likely have flipped the senate.

America DOES NOT want this dysfunction. That’s what the last election showed.

Happy New Year. As we enter 2023, we still have Corruptus Magnum running or ruining? the show in Lancaster. Many questions persist. Why is Lancaster so desperate for Palmdale taxpayer money?

Check out the State of California’s Local Government High Risk page.
    (Link: https://www.auditor.ca.gov/bsa/cities_risk_all )

Lancaster was 229th out of 471 cities, with the higher the score, the better the fiscal condition. Two areas came up problematic for Lancaster: Pension Funding and OPEB (Other Post-Employment Benefits) Funding. Both were high risk. As a comparison, Palmdale came in at 405 out of 471, with no areas of high risk.

Is this why Palmdale taxpayers are having $7.6 million dollars sent to Lancaster?

Short answer: yes. With the real problem being that the money being siphoned to Lancaster is not actually even going to address the city’s financial problems, it is mostly just going to the same looters that caused the problem in the first place.

Huffbower helped open the money flow to Lancaster. Then they dumped him like a sack of trash and the money still is going to Rex’s administration. Loa and Bishop need to go and if the new council doesn’t stop this madness, they need to go too.

Lancaster will always feel we should write them a check to help pay for their stupid self-serving ventures and with Hufblower they found their sellout to give them 3 votes. Bishop is already totally owed by Marvin and Rex and then there is Loa who has always been eager to please those same bully’s. they are stealing 7.6 million and getting away with it.

Speaking of Lancaster, did you know the city council voted to disband code enforcement at the December 13th council meeting. Its CC23 on the city council agenda on the city website.

They’re doing some kind of social experiment.

Lancaster has never put community based policing as a priority. Having the highest crime rate in North Los Angeles makes them the anti-public safety way to do things but I exspect in typical Lancaster fashion to go the cheap route to higher crime rate and a unsafe city for the people that elect them.

Just saw an interview with Chris Pronger, who collapsed in a very similar way in an NHL game after taking a slap shot to the chest that caused what was diagnosed as commotio cordis. While the situations aren’t exactly the same, and there hasn’t been any public statements on a diagnosis for Damar Hamlin, there may be some comfort in knowing that Pronger fully recovered and played another ten years plus in the NHL.

In case anyone is under a rock and the AVTimes is your only source of information; medical team just held a press conference and #3 is awake and aware and communicating, shows no indications of damage to brain functions or spinal cord function. Next step is to improve breathing and get him off the tube. Basically, it was the best report that you could get for a guy who has been in ICU for two days after their heart stopped and had to be restarted.

I watched the press conference live, so your “three hours late” is a flat out lie. As to my first post, Chris Pronger got hit with that puck in 1998, so technically that ‘news’ was 24 years “late.” It was intended to provide hope, and you apparently disapprove of that intention…which qualifies you for a fond ‘fornicate off.’

I have to question Kevin McCarthy…look at John Boehner, look at Paul Ryan, look at the circus today; why in the world would you WANT to be speaker of the house? In the history of the congress this is going to be the most renowned failure ever, and as speaker your name goes down in history with it.

Too bad there aren’t at least 6 (that’s all he’d need) sane, moderate House Republicans who just won in tight races that could vote for Rep. Hakeen Jeffries to win 218 votes.

It would neutralze the crazies like Taylor Greene and allow the moderate wing of the party to get some things done at least and forego the investigations unless appropriate.

That could start the rehab of the Republican Party but so far, except for Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, there’s been no one with the courage to do that.

Anyone else will simply have a difficult time and it won’t be good.

Close. The bug is that there exists a sphere of “news” where they actually don’t have to be relevant. Emp Tee Green isn’t relevant. She’s a junior member of a congressional delegation and sits on ZERO committees. No one in congress is saying “gosh to move this legislation forward what we really need is to get Emp Tee Green on board.” Total irrelevance, but in the “news” world represented by appearing on Hannity or Clownerson, being invited onto podcasts by convicted criminal Steve Bannon, having bloggers write glowing reviews on Tweedledumb’s Treehouse Blog, the outrage factor is all that matters.

if only the MSM effectively would press the ‘ignore’ button, the whackomedia cult and news ecosystem would become the isolated fantasyland it truly is.
they would lose relevance gained by mere attention and go back to the supermarket news racks by the checkout stand they al originally spawned from…you know, the tabloids where Cher had an alien baby and a baby eating death cult was lurking somewhere.

Some republican says that their inability to choose a house speaker is a “democrat plot to make them look like they can’t govern.” The reality is that no one is trying to make them look like it, they just actually can’t govern, and the reason they can’t is because a chunk of them don’t want to.

The GOP includes a large faction that represent petulant children. They are committed to “if we can’t have everything our way then the government may as well not exist.” There is NO question that spineless Kevin McCarthy will give anyone everything they want to get their vote so he can be speaker, but they will demand things that he cannot actually give them because, no, he has no way to make the senate and the white house bow to the whims of a fifty member extremist group in the congress. Since they cannot get absolute power they will just throw a tantrum instead.

This couldn’t have anything to do with Kevin McCarthy and other prominent congressional republicans having just been referred to that panel for investigation, do you think?
