Pearblossom Highway now open

PALMDALE – The Pearblossom Highway rebuild project is now complete and the roadway has reopened. Motorists are advised to drive safely while adapting to the new traffic patterns, turn lanes, intersections, and traffic signals.

The $13.5 million City of Palmdale/Los Angeles County project completely reconstructed 3.2 miles and 1.1 million square feet of pavement on Pearblossom Highway from Old Nadeau Road to 55th Street East. Used by over 34,000 vehicles daily, it provides 16 lane miles of new, long-lasting, and sustainable roadway built to support heavy truck traffic. The 19.4-inch-deep multilayer road consists of five layers of different material, including two asphalt layers, a concrete base, aggregate base, and synthetic geogrid, with a life expectancy of 40-plus years.

This project features many safety improvements and ADA upgrades at major signalized intersections along the project, including new signal equipment, new pedestrian/equestrian push-button systems, new or upgraded ADA-compliant curb ramps, and new ladder-style crosswalks. The roadway also includes new high visibility striping for enhanced safety in a variety of driving conditions, and to meet future standards for automated vehicles. Additionally, a 2,125-foot safety barrier was installed in the median between 25th St. East and 30th St. East, and a 1,045-foot concrete K-Rail safety barrier was installed on the north side of Pearblossom Highway at Barrel Springs Elementary School, providing improved safety for students, teachers, and families.

The PBH project began in September 2019. It was necessitated by decades of weathering and heavy use, including many heavy trucks, which put tremendous stress on the pavement, leading to cracks, potholes, and poor ride quality.

Funding sources for the project included SB-1, state gas tax, TDA Article 8, Measure R, and Measure M, as well as contributions from Los Angeles County and Palmdale School District.

This project was made possible through the coordinated efforts of project partners Granite Construction, Southstar Engineering, Los Angeles County Public Works, Los Angeles County Fire and Sheriff Departments, California Highway Patrol, Palmdale School District, and Palmdale Water District.

Palmdale is still ghetto and the mayor is racist.

And what’s going on with the criminal mayor Jim Ledford?

I love Palmdale. The AV looks like a country rap song video made by Clint Eastwood.

Which mayor is racist? Lancaster or Palmdale or both?
Ledbelly will walk just like all the other people Rex tried to smear.
The Fern Street Mafia has its tenticles in Palmdale now.
      Marv is Rex’s thug.
It will all come tumbling down soon.

I have no reason to follow what goes on in Lancaster. Ledford is guilty of taking money from the IBEW. He needs to go to prison.

IBEW is in bed with Rex, Marv, and the rest of the Fern Street Mafia which now extends into Palmdale since Rex booted Ledford. Unlike Raymond Lee Jennings, which Rex helped put in prison for 1o years for a crime he did not commit, Ledford will see no jail time for the crimes Rex has accused him of. Add him to the list. Jennings, Floyd, Jorge.

Someday Rex will actually accuse someone and they will be guilty.

I really feel bad that you keep mentioning this dear man Raymond Lee Jennings over and over again instead of having respect for him and his family. He has a right to govern his life, not you. We all know what Rex has done, but keep opening wounds day after day over the past five years.

I might also add that Raymond Lee Jennings is a Christian, and maybe he has forgiven those involved in putting him in prison. His life and his decisions as a Christian are between God and him, not you or me or anyone else.

Rex would sure love it if people somehow ‘forgot’ how he stole 10 years of Raymond Lee Jennings life thanks to his trumped up accusations. I bet Rex would love it if people also forgot what he did to Johnathan Ervin, Randy Floyd, Esmeralda Jorge, and James Ledford. I would bet dollars to donuts that Rex would love it if people forgot his made up story about the sheriff shooting, his calling the AV Hospital nurses ‘tyranneous cowards’, his $10 million dollar ‘Eye in the Sky’, his attempt at Communist Chinese birth tourism, his admonition to shoot the homeless if they try to rob you, his declaration of ‘war’ on Section 8 which cost the city millions in a lawsuit, his support of a homophobic and anti Semetic commissioner, his claims that bird sounds lowered crime citywide, his forcing the approval of a Super Wal-Mart against the wishes of the neighborhood, his support of a council woman who made anti Muslim remarks, and all his other off beat statements.

Forgiveness is not forgetting. Rex’s words and deeds will never be forgotten until justice is served.

So, Roberto, just how do you know that Mayor Ledford is guilty of anything?

Are you psychic? Or, did you pull that info out of your a$$ like so many people on this site do?

He is going to have a trial in the world that the rest of us but you live in.

I’ve never heard of a road project that isn’t even that huge that takes 1 and half year to fix!! It was sooo inconvenient to have to drive to and from work!! It took me an extra 30 minutes to get home because of the road closures. I would be so pissed off every day!!
