Violation of Lancaster mask order now a misdemeanor

by The AV Times Staff • December 10, 2020 61 Comments

LANCASTER – Mayor R. Rex Parris and the Lancaster City Council voted during its Tuesday meeting to approve Ordinance No. 1078, effective immediately, which authorizes the city to enforce the mandatory public use of face masks and makes any violation of the mask requirement a misdemeanor.

The city of Lancaster has had a mask ordinance in place since April 3, when the City Council passed Ordinance No. 1074 requiring face coverings to be worn in public. However, the number of COVID-19 cases is continuing to rise in Lancaster and across the region – prompting the City Council to take additional action.

“I know we all wish that the pandemic was over, but the fact is that COVID-19 is still here, and the numbers are getting alarmingly worse as we head into winter,” Parris said. “Wearing a mask is the simplest, easiest thing we can each do to help fight this disease.”

According to the new ordinance, the Lancaster Municipal Code will be modified to make any person violating the city’s existing mask-wearing requirement guilty of a misdemeanor.

“The goal of this ordinance, and of our law enforcement in Lancaster in general, is to promote peace, safety, and public welfare in our communities,” Parris said. “While I would hope everyone knows by now the importance of wearing a mask, the fact that violations are now misdemeanors is one more reason to do the right thing and mask up.”

Rex announced that he has been reading about pandemics so that makes him an expert, like he thinks he is on so many different things. We can all rest in the knowledge that we are safe in his hands. Just like we are safe now that we have the Eye in the Sky, and how we were all comforted by the lovely sounds of birds chirping on the BLVD. Those of us with automobiles can glide smoothly on Lancaster streets thanks to Rex and his revolutionary Traction Seal. Our homeless now have a place to live, thanks to Rex and his dear friend Scott who built Kensington where homeless can live for a thousand bucks a month. We always have new choices to eat on the BLVD as restaurants open and close, open and close, open and close. It never gets boring on the BLVD.

How fortunate we are to live in Lancaster under the all-knowing leader, R. Rex Parris.

You can’t logic a person out of a position they didn’t logic themselves into. The “science” has never supported wearing a mask outdoors. In fact the CDC, your religious leader Dr. Fauci nor anyone else supports compromising fresh air into the body with a barrier. In fact it’s on balance harmful. Period. The video of Dr. Fauci posted by the City of Lancaster regarding mask wearing is only about being indoors. For our genius ambulance chasing attorney mayor it’s called a non sequitur. For all of you advocating outdoor mask wearing you are showing your ignorance. Further Newsom’s health person Mark Ghaly on 12/09 said a ban on outdoor dining isn’t because there is any health risk, it’s to keep you in your home. Did you hear that?! Lancaster has shamed themselves. The question you should be asking is why? Oh, and yes the “law” in Lancaster is not legal. Never was, never will be. Any law on citizens must be supported by facts justifying the intrusion. Here there are none. It’s not open to debate, and no, reasonable minds cannot differ. Look up the word tyranny.

Yes, all of this has been a “we have to do something” response. In the AV, everyone in stores are wearing masks. This law was just passed to raise some news and look impressive, just as Dr. Ghaly explained the outdoor dining ban. The fact is that no one has any evidence on where the spread of cases of COVID is happening, but they need to look as if they are doing something.

Sadly, this will drag out because we are being led by political showmen, not by people who understand how to address an issue. The entire state is doomed.

The maggot cult doesn’t like to be told what to do.

But, they unwittingly and slavishly do whatever Trump tells them to do.

Is there a mental health professional around who can explain their pathology?

The cult memebers all sound like clones of each other while pretending to be rugged individuals.

No. They are sheep and Trump loves his sheep. Did you know that sheep brains are smaller now than they were a hundred years ago? Evolution in reverse thanks to man controlling the breeding.

Same thing with the Trump ‘sheep’. Their brains have shrunk too due to inbreeding. They lost over 50 lawsuits and the big one at the Supreme Court and yet they are still fighting a losing battle.

At least sheep are good for things like food and wool. Republicans just make messes that Democrats have to clean up.

Get up when my mad-dog hangover allows. Leave my morning constitution on the sidewalk cuz my jalopy doesn’t have a working one. I don’t bother with any of that pesky hygiene stuff, which gives me more time to bother people at the local ampm for change, so I can secure tomorrow’s hangover. Since Reckless Rex doesn’t even live in this city, I can get away with my homeless invasion! Yay! Thank you soooo much Sir!

The City can do whatever they want, but the fact is it’s not going to be filed in court. The city doesn’t have its own Courthouse/City attorney like that of Los Angeles. So although it’s a misdemeanor like most City codes are the new District Attorney has instructed his Deputy District Attorney to pretty much not file charges and 99% of all misdemeanors in the penal code or vehicle code.

Why try to find a way around it? What’s the problem with wearing one? U decide u are going to do something anyway because cops wont enforce it? How about just showing respect and doing SOMETHING to help your fellow man. If it works and saves one person from dieing, wouldnt it be worth it? Or do u believe that saving someone is less important than infringing on your so important basic human right to show your face?

You live in one of the most liberal counties in the most liberal state. We have the toughest restrictions yet one of the worst outbreaks. So whatever logic you want to use the bottom line is you cant place the blame on conservatives or trump…. further the actual stated goal early on was to slow the spread so as not to overwhelm our medical system. Somehow that has morphed into trying to eliminate the virus which impossible to do without a vaccine. All that being said people should wear a mask!

Thanks to Trump and the conservtives who resisted social distancing and wearing masks even in ‘liberal’ California, we are still having a surge after the prolonged shut down 6 months ago. People don’t want to ‘conform’ and they prolonged the pandemic here.

Yes, Trump and the conservatives are to blame. Did you not notice that over 50 of them got infected in and around the White House. Their followers followed and spread it everywhere by being ‘righteous’. Check out the Dakotas where every county is afftected and infected.

Did you hear reports of the protestors having outbreaks to the extent the the bikers at Sturgis or the White House?

Of course the protestors were unwise to keep on protesting but somehow they didn’t spread it as much as Trump did at his rallies and White House parties and other meetings. Ask Herman Cain. Oh, wait. Nevermind.

BTW I just heard on the news that they are going to do a thorough cleaning of the White House, doorknobs, faucets, everywhere before Biden and family move in.

They should tent it. And, if Trump refuses to leave, tent it with him in it. He needs fumigating too.

Yes. Biden won. Trump lost. A month ago when AG Barr was asked about Trump not leaving the White House, he said “I won’t be here.” Apparently, he knew it was over and that everyone would have to leave but Trump.

I hope Trump doesn’t harm himself. You know how crazy he is. He certainly doesn’t want to go to prison like Jeffrey Epstein did. It didn’t end well. Or Bernie Madoff. Or David Koresh or Jim Jones but they were cult leaders and avoided prison the hard way.

You can’t stop a virus by partially locking people down. You only prolong the pandemic by slowing down the infection rate. People are still passing it around. You could stop it by a complete lockdown for a month. You would also need to completely close the borders or require anyone entering to go into a quarantine facility for at least 2 weeks – because the minute someone comes in via any method (flight, car, etc), they can spread the infection. You would have to keep our borders controlled until the number of people with vaccinations has reached the herd immunity level (say around 70%).

There are also seasonal effects with cold and flu infections (many colds are caused by corona viruses). It’s called the cold and flu season for a reason. That’s why they want people to get the flu shot every fall.
