Sheriff’s deputy charged in undercover sex sting

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy, who allegedly arranged to meet an undercover officer posing as a teenage girl on a dating app, pleaded not guilty Friday to felony charges.

Miguel Cabrera, 38, was charged this week with one felony count each of meeting a minor for lewd purposes and distributing pornography to a minor, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors allege Cabrera arranged to meet the undercover officer — who he thought was a 17-year-old girl — and appeared at the agreed-upon location in October 2019.

He was arrested last Oct. 21 by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Internal Criminal Investigations Bureau and released later that day on a $75,000 bond.

Cabrera could face up to four years and eight months in state prison if convicted as charged, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

  1. Entrapment? What a bunch of BS. You must be a perv yourself if you’re defending this behavior. Nobody forced him to knowingly send what he believed to be a 17 yr old porn, which IS illegal, and nobody forced him to show up at a location with the intent of meeting this 17 yr old for sex. He got what he had coming to him. He’s lucky it was the police that caught him and not an angry father. Good job LASD!

  2. … pornography isn’t illegal. Agreeing to meet a 17 year old, or a 12 year old, or a two year old,l is not illegal. What is illegal is, entrapment –

      Its not entrapment when it was the
      defendant initiating all illegal activity. Specifically, him sending pornographic pictures to a minor (which IS illegal) and him setting up the meeting knowing it was presumably a 17 year old he was hooking up with!

    • Barbi heard about a pizza joint in New York where the Hollywood elite and Democrats are plotting to kidnap kids as sex slaves and to bring down the government behind the curtain of said pizza shop. She hasnt had any proof, but probably believes that. Had all of the proof one one need on this guy being guilty and its entrapment. Society really needs help and a reality check. Maybe a slap in the face.

          • It is amazing that in the 21st century with all of our information technology, that lies and misinformation are what the right lives on.

            Of course, many believe in religious hearsay from over 2,000 years ago but not what was in today’s paper along with photos and/or videos online.

            That strange woman, Amy Coney Barrett, doesn’t accept climate change but believes all the stories in the bible. The Court needs packing as soon as possible.
