LANCASTER –  A woman and her unborn child died at the hospital Monday night after a suspected drunk driver pursued by sheriff’s deputies in Lancaster crashed a pickup truck into her car and ran off, authorities said

The crash happened around 9:44 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, on Avenue J-8 and 10th Street West, according to a news release from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.

According to the LASD news release: “Preliminary investigation indicates deputies had just initiated a pursuit of a reckless drunk driver in a gray, Ram 1500 pickup, in the area of Avenue K and 12th Street West. The suspect vehicle was able to gain a considerable distance from the deputies while it traveled eastbound on Avenue J-8 towards 10th Street West. The Ram pickup failed to stop for the red traffic signal as it entered the intersection of 10th Street West and collided with a red Dodge Avenger. The driver of the Ram pickup fled on foot before deputies arrived at the collision scene.”

The pregnant driver of the red Dodge Avenger was “transported to Antelope Valley Hospital where she and her unborn child ultimately succumbed to their injuries,” the sheriff’s news release states. Her identity has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.

Deputies are following up on information found in the pickup truck in hopes of locating the suspect, according to Lt. Clinton Skaggs of the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.

Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact the Traffic Investigators at Lancaster Sheriff Station by calling 661-948-8466.

I really….REALLY find it hard to believe, that this piece of trash was not apprehended .Either there at the scene or afterwards. There were ENOUGH units there the entire neighborhood was saturated on every corner what HAPPEND!? im sure that while all one hundred deputies sat on every corner…relaxing…across town yet another demon escaped without challenge.
Whoever did this WILL PAY. I promise you
Prayers to the folks in pain .have faith

FAT COPS ! Most of them are very fat and out of shape…Granted the 1st deputy’s on scene will stay there and try to save the innocent lady, the rest cannot run and will not jump over fence or climb on roofs to find a suspect they just stay in their patrol cars and look around …Sadly now days the Sheriffs dept scrapes the bottom of the chubby mall cop barrel to get patrol deputy’s….Ever notice how slim & trim and in good shape almost all fire fighters are when compared to cops ?

That’s a horrible post. How about focusing on the dirt bag to stole two lives & the pain her loved one are experiencing.

In defense. Firefighters live at their station for days at a time, waiting hours, sometimes days for a call, with a full gym inside. Nothing to do but work out and wash the truck.

Maybe God wanted to take her and her baby out of this sick world together. We are in the end times, things are getting worse and worse. Your cousin and the baby will send you signs and maybe visions and they are in Heaven with Jesus now, waiting for the day when you join them. Adrenalin hits hard after something like this and they would not have felt the pain, just the Adrenalin, that is what people that survive accidents like this report, so please let the entire family know and grief counseling can help, google free grief counseling in the AV. I am so very sorry for your tragic loss. Something beautiful will come out of this, some sort of movement or organization in the name of your cousin and her baby. Maybe you will be the one to start it. Look in your family for the one that is passionate and can help prevent further tragedies, maybe contact mothers against drunk driving when you are ready so that you can tell the story. I am praying for all of your family and your cousin and baby and I am so sorry this happened.

God doesn’t go around taking people. Stop. This happened because of someones recklessness. They should have flourished , and she should have got to see her baby grow.

I find this comment highly offensive, not just to the family, but also to the creator. The birth of a child is one of the happiest times in a family’s life. They all prepare for this new life to come into the world. With joy and nervousness they wait. What kind of god would do something like this to anyone? The Bible tells us at 1 John 4:8 that God is love, not just that he has love, but, that he ( is) love. Why would God do such a thing , kill a mother and unborn baby in a horrible traffic accident? Not only that, why would he use some law breaking drunk to do this? He does not do anything of that sort. In fact he hates to see people suffer tragedy and pain. At James 1:13 the Bible tells us God does not try us with evil things, and the tragic death of a mother and child is truly evil. The Bible does teach at Ecclesiastes 9:11 that time and unexpected events happen. And it also teaches that the family can see their loved ones again, when they’re resurrected back to life at John 5:28 & 29. Which will occur in the near future. Meanwhile it is a very painful and unnatural thing to lose someone you love in death, and this family whoever they are, will need much support and love. To them I say, I am truly sorry for your loss, and that through these few scriptures you may derive some comfort.
