Suspected DUI driver arrested for hit-and-run death in Littlerock, crash in Palmdale [updated]

by The AV Times Staff • January 24, 2020

PALMDALE – A suspected drunken driver was arrested for allegedly killing a 65-year-old woman in a hit-and-run crash in Littlerock Thursday night, then being involved in a multi-vehicle crash later in Palmdale that injured seven people, two critically.

The hit-and-run crash happened around 7:55 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, on SR-138 just west of 77th Street East, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

Alfredo Rodriguez, 62, of Palmdale, was driving westbound on SR-138 when he steered his vehicle onto the shoulder and struck a 65-year-old Littlerock woman as she was walking a friend’s dog, the CHP report states.

Rodriguez “stopped at the scene and exited the vehicle, before fleeing the scene of the collision,” the CHP report states.

The 65-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.

Rodriguez was then involved in a second collision on Avenue S at 25th Street East in Palmdale, where he arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the CHP report.

Of the seven people injured in the second crash, two were taken to a hospital in critical condition, four, including Rodriguez, were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, and one was treated at the scene for minor injuries, according to Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Details on what led up to the second crash were not immediately released.

Anyone who witnessed either crash is encouraged to contact Officer Rockafellow at the CHP’s Antelope Valley Area office at 661-948-8541.

UPDATE: The deceased has been identified as 65-year-old Jeri Kennedy of Littlerock, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

After reading all the comments, I decided to read this article again to comprehend what this article says. After reading this article about the tragic effects of drunk driving, a precious life lost, and others injured, by a drunk driver named Alfredo Rodriguez; nowhere do I see that he is an illegal alien. He could be, but then again maybe he is a U.S. citizen. There sure are millions of U.S. citizens causing DUI deaths every year. If you want alcohol taken away from someone that has a last name of Rodriguez, Hernandez, Montoya, etc. then ban alcohol from other names, also, like Benson, Rudolph, Schmidt, O’Malley, Ling Yu, etc. Do your homework.

I wonder if Alfredo was an illegal. If so, why would we subject ourselves to being killed by people that don’t belong here?

We get what we tolerate from our politicians. They don’t give a damn about US citizens.

California has been stolen by an invasion of foreigners whose anchor babies vote to let in more illegals.

Not one word in your comment about the lady that lost her life, or the others involved in this tragedy. This isn’t about YOU and your political agenda.

It’s ALL about us and our political agenda. Do laws matter to you? When its your family being killed by drunk aliens you’ll change your tune. Or what will you say when ICE comes for you?

You question someone’s intelligence and patriotism because he defends innocent American lives? Troglodyte.

Troglodyte? Who defends innocent American lives? Come on R.R.,your comment is as silly as “69,s.” Where does it say in this article that he is an alien? Never mind.

Alexis (and are you also Lily?:

You’ll change your tune if an illegal rapes you or kills your family in a DUI. Mexico is a failed state. Do you want to live in Mexico?

Hypocritical do-gooders and brainwashed religious drones deny reality and pass moral judgments to make themselves feel righteous. I call hypocrisy and BS to their holier-than-thou proclamations.

Why are you so upset that we are tired of being victimized by people that don’t belong here? Are you or your family illegal aliens?

69: Your stunning and staggering display of ignorance is on display. You’re no patriot. You read this article and immediately go into your rant about being victimized by illegal aliens.

If you read the newspaper everyday from the Antelope Valley Times and KTLA news Hispanics in this goddamn State don’t care how many of them have roll their cars over with their passengers inside they end up being killed in the accident and the driver runs off they don’t give a damn about themselves or anyone else as long as they got the alcohol in their system I say remove them from the highways

you are generalizing, i am an “anchor baby” who fought for this country, for your freedom! so tell this to the million of “anchor babies” fighting in all branches of our military to go back home and see how many people are left to fight for your freedom. AV Times will probably not post my response, like many others i’ve posted, but that is their right.

A person CAN be an anchor baby and a Mexican-American. However they could not be an illegal because they were born here. No citizenship test required.
