LANCASTER – The Antelope Valley Transit Authority is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a woman who allegedly attacked a bus driver on Monday, causing lacerations to the driver’s face.

The assault happened around 6 p.m. Monday, June 3, near Palmdale Boulevard and 5th Street West. The bus operator was “viciously assaulted by a female rider” as he was trying to assist her in boarding the bus with two children and a stroller, according to a news release from the Antelope Valley Transit Authority.

AVTA’s Customer Code of Conduct, section 3.4, requires that children be removed from strollers and strollers be collapsed prior to boarding the bus to ensure a safe environment for all passengers, according to the AVTA news release.

“The operator was simply explaining boarding policies regarding strollers and infants when he was the victim of this senseless and unprovoked attack,” said AVTA Executive Director Macy Neshati. “Without any warning, he was struck in the head several times and suffered lacerations on his face.”

Following the assault, the woman, her two children, and two companions exited the bus and left the scene. Law enforcement was contacted but the woman was not located, AVTA officials said in the news release.

“AVTA places the highest premium on the safety of our operators and passengers and we want to make it clear that we simply will not tolerate this kind of behavior towards our operators or passengers,” Neshati said. “Therefore, we are offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.”

Community assistance may help investigators.

Anyone who witnessed the attack or recognizes the suspect is encouraged to contact the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station at 661-272-2400.

If I knew who she is I would turn her in for free, no reward. Bet you one of her friends will cash in on that.

There is a protocol for riding the buses. I saw a guy in a wheelchair on the number 11 the other day going westbound to Sgt. Owen park. When his stop came, he got out of the wheelchair and took his belongings on the seat behind him and exited the bus. Then he boarded the bus again to get his wheelchair which had to be folded to get down the ramp in front of the bus. Near him was a woman sleeping with her shopping bags. I wondered if she were homeless and used the bus to sleep on.

Words of a megalomaniac mayor who will have blood on his hands if people are foolish enough to listen to his crazed advice.

Days are getting hotter, and ppl waiting in the hot sun and with kids, Get drained and tiresome of waiting for the bus. The bus driver could of told her once she boarded. I’ve seen homeless and ppl in general board with empty baby strollers and not be told nothing. Flipside Nobody especially working ppl need to be hit or verbally assaulted. Bus drivers spend the majority of there day driving around town. Putting up with out of control babys and toddlers. And unruly grown ppl. And still have to drive with ppl skills. There are some bus drivers without ppl skills. Both sides of the fence.

He did tell her, that’s why she went cray cray on him dummy. She is an indecent, semi-bald, half human being with no manners. I don’t care if it’s 1,000 degrees, it’s not his fault your riding the bus. He is just doing his job.

This is why most normal people try to avoid riding the bus at all costs. It’s just not worth it when you’ve got trash like this and like the trash in Vegas that pushed that old man off the bus.

The e.b.t. funds just renewed, so she was probably out trying to catch the bus so she could get to Walmart.
