LANCASTER –  A 17-year-old girl hit by a car while walking on a sidewalk in Lancaster has died of her injuries, authorities said.

Cecilia Trujillo of Lancaster was pronounced dead at the hospital at 6:03 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, according to coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

The fatal collision occurred about 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, on Avenue I, just west of 15th Street east, according to a news release from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.

“Preliminary information gathered at the scene revealed a Ford Focus being driven by an adult male, was driving east on Avenue I. A female pedestrian was walking on the eastbound sidewalk, on the north side of Avenue I,”  the news release states.

“According to witnesses, the Ford Focus lost control for an unknown reason and it veered to the left (north). The Ford Focus collided into the north curb line, which subsequently caused the vehicle to collide with the female pedestrian,” the news release states.

The man driving the Ford Focus and his female passenger were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries and were listed in stable condition, according to the news release. Their names were withheld.

“Driving under the influence and the speed of the vehicle [are] under investigation,” the news release states.

Anyone with information regarding this collision is encouraged to contact traffic investigators at Lancaster Sheriff’s Station at 661-948-8466. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.

UPDATE: An online fundraiser has been established to help cover funeral expenses for Cecilia Trujillo. To donate, visit: https://www.gofundme.com/cecilia-trujillo-memorial-fund.

Cecilia was a sweetheart. She was loved by many, and will be missed by all who knew her. She was a born again christian and is definitely in a better place. Our only concern at this point should be , what does our future hold. The day your life on earth ends, where will you go. The answers can be found in God’s holy word. If you are interested in knowing God on a personal level you are welcome to visit us at Lancaster Baptist Church. Look us up on google. Really easy to find. God bless you all.

Our Pastor, Paul Chappell at Lancaster Baptist Church, stated on Sunday’s service (1-7-18) that the young lady had been recently baptized following the church’s ‘Game Changer’ outreach program. While this accident was unfortunate, her commitment to Christ was fortuitous as she now is in Heaven. No one knows how long they might have here on earth. This is why it is so important to be saved — and without delay.

Far be it from your pastor to miss an opportunity for self aggrandizement. If one of your church’s “outreach programs” happened to do God’s work I think it was more likely in spite of pastor Paul than because of him. Most of his “outreach programs” are more motivated by signing up support for the Lancaster political machine than by saving souls.

Amen. Chappell has been a willing tool of the Lancaster political machine for decades. God’s work and saving grace will not be hindered by those who blur the lines between the Kingdom of God and kingdom of man. God can and does work in and through many different people and situations. He once used an a$$ to speak truth.

Ironic post of Tim’s is ironic. Using a church for self aggrandizement like saying…YOU delivered 25,000 eggs at Christmas…would that qualify?

It may not be aggrandizement since you didn’t really do it Tim. It’s just a lie.

Dear Lawrence Eaton: How utterly appalling it is for you to make public, this young woman’s baptism. How presumptuous of you to comment about a very private matter between God and this now deceased woman. It is NOT about being baptized into the LBC. It is about being baptized into the body of Christ, with Christ as the Head of His church, not Paul Chappell! Christ’s church is not a political machine!

        Amen Alexis.

LBC is a separationist group. King James Only. They are saved but the rest of us, if we are not in their flock, iffy. Many good people there but when you peel back the layers of the onion, you will find something different than what you would expect.

They fit in perfectly in Rex’s Lancaster.

… from 110th Street West to the 110th Street East, Avenue I is straighter than an arrow, and flatter than a pancake. The only way a dimwit or a nitwit could lose it, on Avenue I? You’d have to be a retard.

May the love of Family, friends and above all our Almighty Heavenly Father give you comfort and strength. And peace as in the promise in Revelation 21:4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

From having driven past the scene yesterday, looks like the vehicle dropped its passenger side tires into the dirt, over-corrected, then slid across all four lanes of Ave I…. Maybe fell asleep..? texting?.. who knows… Tragic loss of life regardless.

Anyone think it Could of been a off duty police officer or someone tied to the community the way they are withholding the names. Just a thought .

    • Tim Scott says

      January 2, 2018 at 12:14 am

Naaahhh. They said “driving under the influence and speed of the vehicle are under investigation.” If it was an off duty cop they’d have immediately said that the girl mysteriously jumped in front of the car and closed the case.

They need to sue camacho dealer because they probably hit the kill switch. For non payment did any one think of that?

If indeed there was a disabling device on the car it would only stop the engine from running, not cause it to careen across a street. It is like running out of gas.

I nobody thought if that because only an idiot would use that as an excuse ! He was speeding did you ever think about that ?

      January 6, 2018 at 9:30 am

Than he shouldn’t go and try buying a car if he can’t afford to pay it .

Yes he needs to do time cause he was probably under the influence

      • Tim Scott says

Any sentence that includes “he needs to do time because he was probably…” is a direct slap in the face of the rule of law.
