Baby boy surrendered at local hospital

by The AV Times Staff • November 10, 2017

LOS ANGELES – A baby boy was safely surrendered at a hospital in the Antelope Valley area, authorities said Thursday.

The infant was brought to the medical center on Nov. 4, marking the sixth safe surrender for 2017, and the 156th under the 16-year-old Safe Surrender program, said Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger.

“To prevent newborns from being hurt or abandoned, the Safe Surrender program gives parents or guardians the choice to legally and safely surrender their baby with an employee at any Los Angeles County hospital or fire station at any time, no questions asked,” Barger said.

To be surrendered, a child must be no more than three days old and show no sign of abuse.

The law does not give an age limit or requirements…So whomever says she’s a teenager how would you know?? This is also done confidentially..

I will have to make a new topic to comment on all your posts:

Joyce: good post – right on the money.

Av Supporter – WRONG! We don’t need more babies ending up in a dumpster.. what if it was you?

Tim Scott.. I have to skip you.. you have known me for way longer than you think..(ever had your username banned and had to make a new one?) I can’t type that long tonight (ok i had a few beers… ok maybe more then a few)

Alexis: Bluntness… I cannot lie, I have always been totally blunt and honest.. is there a disease and a name for it? If so, I have it… Total honestly? No.. Does this dress look fat on me? “No Honey! It looks great!” – Ok I can do that… but NOT in politics, social life or philosophy… I have to be blunt… just cant help it.

Hooray for this child giving her newborn a chance at a better life.
So many young girls and boys need to learn the consequences of having premature sex..
Its her hard to raise a child when you are so very young believe me I know.

With programs like this is just teaching kids that if you have a baby you can give it away with no responsibility if they’re old enough to have sex they’re old enough to raise their own child the old fashion way

The “old fashioned way”? Like turning tricks for cash? What old fashioned punishment do you in your self-righteousness think they deserve to suffer? Just how bad a life do you think their newborn child “deserves”?

I’d tell you what I really think of this comment, but Alexis would get upset with my bluntness.

Blunt is fine if you weren’t self-righteous your own self.

I completely agree with you Joyce! This is a selfless act.
