Newhall man gets 28 years to life for murder of newlywed wife

by The AV Times Staff • August 15, 2017

SAN FERNANDO – A Newhall man was sentenced Tuesday to 28 years to life in prison for killing his new bride and assaulting a man he accused of flirting with her.

Robert Arvizu was convicted two weeks ago of first-degree murder for killing his 25-year-old spouse in 2015.

Jurors also found Arvizu, 50, guilty of two counts of assault likely to produce great bodily injury stemming from the attack on a friend the night before his wife’s body was found.

Deputies asked to perform a welfare check at the couple’s Newhall apartment discovered Courtney Arvizu‘s body before dawn on May 24, 2015.

They arrested her husband less than two hours later.

The coroner determined that the victim died of smothering and also had multiple blunt force injuries.

The night before, Arvizu assaulted a friend who gave him a ride home from a party that the defendant attended with his wife.

The couple had been married for about two months.

What no statement he had mental health issues or he was getting his life together going to school?
At his age, I can almost be 101% sure there was some Domestic violence issues in his background.
For you ladies who think you can change him, look again. You may be signing your own death warrant. Keep clear of the human BASURA for your safety and your family

To the victims family my thoughts and prayers are with you always. The journey ahead will be long and hard, but stay strong in your endeavor to continue on. God the Almighty may grant you strength, endurance, comfort and peace “so you may abound in hope through the Holy Spirit.” (Ro.15:13)

Notice how any criminal in Santa Clarita is always described as “a Newhall man” or a “person from Saugus” or a “Valencia resident” or some other way than the truth?

A young woman lost her life at the hands of an abuser. What difference does it make where he lived. I’m sure her family doesn’t care whether he is from Newhall, Valencia, Palmdale, or Lancaster. A comment coming from a completely self-centered person. Stop the hate!

The article is correct. Newhall is the oldest and southern most city in Santa Clarita.

Newhall is not a city. Upgrade your knowledge before you start typing.
