14 Fwy rollover crash update: 3 dead, 2 injured

by City News Service • July 21, 2017

ACTON – The driver of an SUV that crashed on the northbound Antelope Valley (14) Freeway in Acton on Thursday, killing two children riding in the vehicle, died Friday morning at a hospital, authorities said.

The crash was reported about 6:20 a.m. Thursday, July 20, south of Ward Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Karen Adams, 37, of Los Angeles, died at a hospital about 12:45 a.m. Friday, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

According to the CHP, Adams was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer in which four children were riding.

“For reasons being investigated, (Adams) allowed (the SUV) to veer to the right, colliding with the dirt embankment, causing (the SUV) to overturn several times,” a CHP statement said.

Adams and the four children were transported for hospital treatment. A one-year old girl and an 8-year-old boy died on Thursday. Their names were withheld, pending notification of their relatives.

An 8-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy were hospitalized in unknown condition.

It was not known if the occupants were related.

According to CHP, the girl was not strapped in, although the woman and boys were.

“Alcohol (and/or) drugs is being investigated in this collision,” the CHP statement said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

I’m so glad God is the righteous judge
There are 4 children that will have to live without their mom and 2 siblings and a host of other family members and friends. STOP judging! STOP spewing out hateful non- sympathetic comments. Whatever happened, this mother has paid the ultimate price. Don’t put your comments on here where her older children can read how hateful and cruel people can be. Don’t you think loosing family members is enough? And you must remember … …… it could be your family! So be careful what comes out your pie-hole. Rest in heaven precious souls!

I never comment on these things but just because the seat was ejected did not mean she did not strap the baby in. Seat belt failures happen. Or accidents happen,,, seat belt snap did not actually snap when put in. I doubt if everyone else was strapped in, that she just ignored the baby.

It is very likely that she just fell asleep, or over corrected. Accidents happen and they can be, as in this case, tragic.

It amazes me the online hating that goes on nowadays. No empathy at all.

The baby would have still been strapped in the carseat if the seatbelt failed.

She drove a car without strapping that child in then I have no sympathy or grief for the driver. My heart is broken for the innocent children that were put in this situation by her actions. Whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved she killed those 2 children. When will these idiots learn?! To many are so selfish and wrapped up in themselves to properly take care of others.

it could have been an “accident” but once you start driving, endangering the lives of innocent children by not properly restraining them AND driving under the influence, it’s not an accident. Those 2 things are done on purpose. She CHOSE to jeopardize their lives under those circumstances. She is 100% responsible for killing and injuring those poor helpless children. GOD took her life for her choices.

Impaired or not, the poor baby was NOT in a child safety seat & that is a FACT! I understand one’s outrage over that. Regardless of the cause of the accident, that baby girl deserved a chance and her mom gave her ZERO chance of survival!

Bella Lewis, I pray you find the completeness that you are searching for in this life, I hope that God blesses you to feel more comfortable in your own skin, To wish death on another is “Wrong” plan and simple no clarification needed. I love how quickly others forget mistakes and wrong doings they are guilty of when pointing the finger at another, NO family deserves to lose innocent lives and children to grow up without there mother.

The accident is still under investigation, from what has beeb relayed to me , the child was in fact in a child’s safety seat strapped in ;but not properly secured ,which is very common. Classes are taught monthly at the local CHP office on how to properly install and secure a child’s seat.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of this Mother who has lost her life along side he beautiful, babies may there souls rest in eternal peace in the arms of our savior “Jesus Christ’. I pray God gives this family peace and the remaining children a speedy and full recover.

For the rest of the readers let’s pray you never have to experience such a hurt.

One last word for Bella Lewis’ put yourself in the place of that 14 year boy, when comes online and reads you are “very Glad” his mother is dead, and how you would feel if it was your mother.
