I know that checkpoints have been used in the state of California to protect public safety for more than 40 years. Whether the checkpoints are checking the mechanical condition of your vehicle, sobriety of your driver or the license / insurance status of your operator and vehicle the public’s interest is being served.
Driving in the state of California is a Privilege not a right. With that privilege comes the responsibility of maintaining a mechanically sound car, being educated and tested on your ability to operate and sobriety in operating a motor vehicle and financial responsibility. Every driver approaching a checkpoint is given ample notification of its presence and an opportunity to avoid the checkpoint.
    Lets put public safety first!

… perched at the apex of the collapse of American exceptionalism, here you and I stand, on the glide path to a police surveillance state, our community police now fully militarized, our 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th amendments a foregone conclusion, where our Founding Fathers’ 1st and 2nd amendments hang, by a thread. Things are so bad here in America, our fully militarized police now boast self-entitlement, to the arbitrarily imposition of Soviet style checkpoints, for their amusement and merriment…

Man, if I were you I would move to Berlin. You seem to forget that every time something happens in this country you disagree with, you are allowed to run out and destroy things that don’t belong to you all in the name of free speech.

… Soviet style checkpoints cropping up with ever increasing frequency, here in the sanctuary city of Mexifornia. America’s best days well behind her, indeed –

… greatness of a nation like America once was would otherwise have no need or want for armed, militarized checkpoints now popping up in ever increasingly frequency, here in the Antelope Valley. The Los Angeles metropolitan statistical area now declared a de facto sanctuary city, more than half its population lawless, out-of-control illegal immigrants tearing at the fabric of our society, trashing out everything in sight, wholly incapable of functioning in a free society? Painfully apparent to even the most obtuse of law enforcement officers, that East German style Stasi checkpoints are now absolutely imperative.

You are seriously pretending that Los Angeles County is home to more than ten million illegal aliens? Even the fake news sources of the alt-right don’t claim there are enough illegal aliens in the country for there to be ten million of them in LA county.

The daftness that springs out of hyper nationalism never fails to amaze.

Whoa…..wait a minute. I thought that when all those unlicensed individuals were now allowed to obtain a license, the number of unlicensed drivers was going to decline sharply. I wonder what happened? Maybe they are all waiting for those licenses to come in the mail.

And what makes you think they’re all from that group of individuals? I have a friend named Tyler Who doesn’t have a license and just got a dui but here you are with your bs hahahaha ok.

Whoa…Did I ever mention race or ethnicity here? I guess you must have thought you were filling in the blanks with your own little dose of B.S. Just what is “THAT GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS”?

P.S. I am glad you have a friend though. Tell Tyler he should try to avoid drinking and driving.

What do you expect from a city that consistently promotes drinking? Every event is booze, booze and more booze. Go to the fair? Booze! Streets of Lancaster? More booze! Celebrate Boozy America? Even more booze! Field of Booze? Booze, booze, BOOZE! But the same mayor and city council will try to stop the sale of single bottles of alcohol to keep panhandlers away. Huh? What a joke this place is.

Theres booze, at every event in every city, this has nothing to do personal responsibility, how bout people be licensed and insured and not impaired while driving, for the saftey of others on the road

So WHY NOT PUT ICE at these checkpoints.
    ????????

Because Latino rights groups & l.a. county would sue our sheriff station again!

    • Tim Scott says

      April 26, 2017 at 9:44 pm

Because they would interfere with the job at hand?

ICE could run their own checkpoints. Oh, wait, no they can’t. See, the only thing that makes these sham checkpoints legal is that we pretend the “public good” of catching drunk drivers outweighs the violation of people’s rights. Without the pretense a straight up “papers” checkpoint would be unconstitutional. Not that you or Dingbat Don care about the constitution, but some of us do.
