LANCASTER – A parolee-at-large wanted for a possible assault led authorities on an hour-long chase in an SUV Tuesday, which ended when a patrol car forced the vehicle to stop.

The man, identified as Danny L. Reeder of Palmdale, was taken into custody shortly after noon in the area of Avenue D and 30th Street West, according to a news release from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.

The chase began about 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, when deputies recognized Reeder in a Ford Explorer near the intersection of Sierra Highway and Avenue M in Palmdale, according to the news release.

“Danny Reeder of Palmdale was the front passenger in a 2003 Ford Explorer during a traffic stop with two unidentified elderly occupants,” the news release states.

“Suspect Reeder made his way to the driver seat and drove off away from the deputies, initiating a vehicle pursuit eastbound [on] Avenue M,” the news release states.

“Additional Lancaster sheriff’s units responded; and later, CHP patrol units, a CHP airship, and an LASD Airship engaged in the lengthy pursuit,” the news release states.

Reeder evaded arrest for more than an hour, driving through stop signs and traffic lights in mostly rural areas of Lancaster, according to the news release.

Law enforcement personnel deployed spike strips, but the vehicle kept going. Finally, a CHP unit used a PIT maneuver that spun out the SUV and forced it to stop on Avenue D near 30th St West.

“Suspect Reeder was uncooperative and displayed assaultive behavior towards law enforcement. He was tackled to the ground and handcuffed,” the sheriff’s news release states.

Reeder was brought to a hospital to be checked for possible injuries prior to booking.

Reeder will be booked at the Lancaster Station jail for felony reckless evading, with additional charges pending, sheriff’s officials said.

“Suspect Reeder also had a $1.16 million warrant for his involvement in an assault case in Palmdale, which occurred on October 23, 2016. He failed to comply with his parole requirements in August 2016,” the sheriff’s news release states.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Lancaster Station at 661-948-8466.

I’ve known Reeder for years…This guy is insane and a good dude…He’s always lived on the edge… Unfortunately sometimes his edges were further than most other peoples…Those that sit and make faces while passing judgement will never have the opportunity to understand why he lives so recklessly…No worries Reeder…The bars will open and you will live on the edge soon snuff…Get rest…Get well…Sure it’s against some laws the things you do…But those of us in the know understand completely…And will see you on your next run…Be safe brother…See you soon…

I’ve know him his adult life and Wendy’s right he would give you the shirt if his back even if he didn’t know you, he was a real calm and mellow dude. I’ve known him 14 years and I know he wouldn’t endanger those endangered those elderly people, so whoever that was keep that bs out your mouth and to all those haters screw you, you all hatred on me too when I didn’t do [removed] I was around a [removed]. But as far as Danny he’s helped me in situations and had violence squashed that could’ve had someone else hurt cause debts so more power to him. Brother I hope you beat your case it looks like they don’t have Jack [removed] on him with the supposed assault. More power to you free Danny Reeder. I send my love and utmost. Oh and as far as the police the always use way too much excessive force. And all they do is try and Trump up charges on all the regs out here in AV fist they come at you with a buckrodgers date, they did that with me once for assault with intent to do great bodily injury when I had a weapon and the so called victim said he thought I was going to hurt him. They came at me with 17 years on my first so called assault. So that’s how av court is. They have a 98.5%conviction rate and are under investigation by the feds out of all the convictions by trial 75% that come back on appeal win. I’ve been dealing with these cut throats for years, back when the court house was on Ave.J so I know just how messed up our judicial system is. We actually need help in that area. I heard Danny was just walking away after the chase and they tackled him and tazered him. That was just uncalled for. They’ve used it on me quite a few times and it was uncalled for. I hope more people that actually help get the good words out there Danny was known for. So all you haters in the haters club [removed]

not uncalled for when he was not complying with their orders…tasers are better than bullets! Perhaps you didnt see all the wreckless driving in town? he could have seriously injured or killed someone… that is not being “calm and mellow”. There is a resaon he was wanted, and thats why he ran like a coward, afraid to face the consequences of his actions. You sound like a real winner too.

Jennifer Kastner, you would do a much greater service to the Antelope Valley by investigating the corruption that goes on in Lancaster. Insider deals with LEAPS and Ecolution, illegal purchases of a building by the mayor, illegal closure of Desert Inn hotel over Mongul fiasco, no bid contracts, racist hit mailers sent by Mayor calling an African American veteran a ‘gang candidate’, character assassinations of Raymond Lee Jennings, Randy Floyd, and Esmerelda Jorge, attempted Chinese birth tourism attempted at Antelope Valley Hospital, shady land sales, delclaring ‘war’ on Section 8, and more.

I seen on the news he was hand cuffed and taken in to custody how you suppose he got injured and taken to the hospital instead of jail. People shouldnt become a victim of an assault at the hands of the police. Wasn’t that what you said he was on porole for. Why is the same crime ok for Police in Lancaster.

I agree…They hit him with a Taser as he was hitting the ground. So quick to use unruley force because they are intimidated and scared. Why even become a sheriff if your to scared to properly do your job. To protect and serve right? Whatevvver

If the couple did know he was wanted, then thats what they get! If not, then it sucks that he wrecked their car the way he did. What a selfish person he is.

it should be included in law enforcement/media releases whether these scumbags were released under ab 109/prop 57 circumstances, to come back out and prey on the community.

All your bs talking you think everyone is unfit and a monster because they made a mistake or bad choices in life. ” released to prey on the community “” , listen to yourself you guys are you’re your own worst enemies. Just because somebody was in jail doesn’t make that person bad people have a hard life and they do what they have to do to survive. He’s a good dude yeah maybe some bad choices but deep down he would give you the shirt off his back to help out. I’ve known him since I was a kid and I always had my back and made sure that I was OK when things were hard for me. So quit judging people by the decisions they made in Life or the actions that they take you don’t know what we are going through try living a day in our shoes. I bet you couldn’t even make it the full 24 hours
