PALMDALE – The Antelope Valley Union High School District on Thursday recognized Congressman Steve Knight (R-Antelope Valley) for his dedication to public service by naming Stephen Knight Preparatory in his honor.

“When we are presented with the opportunity to name a school, we often reflect on those who have dedicated themselves to public service and education in our Valley, and Congressman Knight has done just that,” said Antelope Valley Union High School District Superintendent Dr. David J. Vierra. “Steve is a Palmdale High School graduate and a fabric of the AV community, he advocates for our students in government and interacts with them in the classroom.”

“The Antelope Valley is home to some of the finest educational institutions our state has to offer, and I am extremely honored to be a part of this latest addition to our community. I look forward to seeing Knight Preparatory Academy continue our Valley’s legacy of academic excellence and commitment to education,” said Congressman Steve Knight.

Knight Prep opened in 2015 as part of the Academies of the Antelope Valley, which includes SOAR Prep located at Quartz Hill High School and the Virtual Academy. At Knight Prep, seventh and eighth grade students are offered a unique educational opportunity patterned after the Digital Design & Engineering Academy at William J. “Pete” Knight High School. Well, he has embraced Donald Trump, so while he may not be a racist himself he is certainly willing to court their votes.
