PALMDALE – A suspicious package left near the JC Penney entrance prompted evacuation of the Antelope Valley Mall Thursday afternoon at 1233 Rancho Vista Boulevard in Palmdale, authorities said.
The suspicious package call came in around 2:30 p.m., according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s arson/explosives team was sent to the location to investigate.
The threat was called off about three hours later, after a woman came to scene and said she left the package — two homemade candles in mason jars — near the mall by mistake, according to deputies at the scene.
“Investigators applied render safe procedures and deemed the item was not harmful,” the sheriff’s news release states.
The mall reopened around 6 p.m.

Which one? The one who left her candles or the one who saw a couple candles and called it a “mysterious package”?

Cool candles, Ahmed. Want to bring them to the White House?

Corn is a great fragment particle for a bomb, so tasty, it comes out roasted after the explosion!

How many cops does it take to blow out a candle? Lol… I’m happy it turned out good. Good job officers. Thank you for your service in our community.
