Chris Ramirez of California City was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, which occurred around 6:08 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, on Avenue R-4, north of 102nd Street East, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
Meraz failed to observe the motorcycle due to its “high rate of speed” and made a left turn directly into the path of the motorcycle, the CHP report states.
The motorcycle struck the right side of the Honda Civic and Ramirez was ejected. The bike spun clockwise and came to rest on the right shoulder of westbound Avenue R-4, according to the CHP report.
Meraz was not injured in the crash. Her front seat passenger, 39-year-old Alan Acevedo of Littlerock, was transported to Palmdale Regional Medical Center with complaint of pain to his right side.
A 14-year-old girl in the Honda Civic was not injured in the crash.
The crash is still under investigation.

All of you talking down about my brother in law need to keep my families names out of your mouths. If you dont know all the facts then keep your opinion to your damn selves.
Rest in peace brother.
Forever gone but never forgotten.
Much love Chris.
George says
All you Chris lovers or friends ,was this bike regs. And insurance ,tire looked bald or a slick ??? Not legal, none of u people were there , all Monday morning quarter backing, need to grow up,let the proper people deal with it and the ones on the street that were there ,not old girl friends to suggestions that the lady screwed up ,he was going fast for damage, live with slick chic and others
Gary says
Ok George. Police report came out and guess what???? They found the woman involved was at fault!!!! Now wanna hear a real surprise??? The woman has disappeared POOF!!!! Nowhere to be found. Now all the speculation is over.
Rf says
Appears to be some people are making assumptions, including the cops. If the driver didn’t see the bike, then how are they qualified to make any claims about how fast the bike was going? If they are claiming the bike was speeding, they must have seen it…
Laughing says
A little thing called accident investigation science.
Gorge says
Rf
You need to sit. And think before u write Chris was speeding no helmet showing off the lady do sent know he is coming that fast
George says
What’s just as bad as a 18 yr old driver no brains speeding is a 46 yr old trying to be 18 again ,going fast ,no helmet, its a shame both family’s suffer, slick chic don’t understand ,she quote all these vc codes must be a cop group or bf is cop she has no class just pics. On a lady she a bar. Brat
Buddy says
Rest In Peace Buddy!
As for all your bad comments about speeding…I live on a street that the speed limit is ONLY 25 miles per hour. There have been so many times I go to pull out of my driveway or pull into my driveway and I need to WAIT until the speeding cars pass. I could have been in thousands of accidents in the past 20 years. If you pay attention to your own driving and the other drivers that share the road with you, these horrible accidents may not happen. Has anyone put into consideration that the sun may have been in Chris’ eyes. She was going westbound with clear vision with any on coming traffic. His bike was loud! She could have heard him coming towards her. All bikes have headlights on at all times. She couldn’t see that?
Rachelle says
Just take a moment…
STOP..
All the mean things.
He was a man with a family and wonderful friends.
We all know he made a horrible mistake..it took his life..no one elses..just for a moment put yourself in his shoes..what was he thinking at the very moment…oh crap I’m going to die…
Stop being so judgemental…a life was lost and it was HIS..
Bob says
I know, right?!
Laughing says
And very nearly the passenger in the car. The statements are mostly not mean, just trying to get points across that these are neighborhoods with kids, pets, elderly, and other drivers.
It is good he had many caring friends. Keep his memories alive in your hearts.
Robert M. says
I personally drove his parents to the site., after recieving the bad news, we were in shock,
I still am, Chris and I grew up together , from bicycles to motorcycles, he loved riding,
And i will miss him dearly. Its never goodbye chris, its see you later, may you rest in peace

i have known chris for about 15 years we worked together for most of them, we just talked yesterday morning about coming over for lunch one of these days, then we laughed about his post ,”b4 i die ima swallow a bag of popcorn so when im cremated it will be epic…. rest in peace buddy…. my heart hurts…. i dont wanna believe any of this…
Ruben BarRagan says
Ride In Paradise Chris, it was a pleasure chatting with you a few months back.
Karen says
It seems to me here that everyone is more concerned about putting the blame on somebody. It was an accident and a very unfortunate one. It is the responsibility of both parties for without either of them it would not have happened. So lets quit worrying about who to blame and instead think about the suffering that both of these families are going through right now. I don’t know about you but I would have a very hard time dealing emotionally and mentally knowing that I was responsible for taking someone else’s life no matter what the circumstances or who was at fault.
Jessie G. says
Chris was a good Buddy of mine. We lost contact a few years ago. He was a good man and had a great heart! I want to pay my respects to him and his family. Can someone please, post funeral arrangements. Thank you.
SlickChick says
Anyway you slice it, HE HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY! The woman who killed him should have been drug tested, and charged with manslaughter!
Bob Smith says
No corpulent chick who may be slim for the AV but nowhere else. The primary collision factor was excessive speed. Try learning something useful.
Slickchick says
Is that right? I’m sorry, where did you get your law degree?
Slickchick says
definition of primary collision factor
22350 VC Unsafe Speed
22106 VC Unsafe Start or Backing
21801(a) VC Left Turn Violation
21453(a) VC Red Light Violation
21658(a) VC Straddling or Changing Lanes when Unsafe
So you’re saying that the fact that the woman driving the car made a left turn violation is of no consequence?
George says
Where the v c code for Chris to do 80. Slick chic
Arlene says
>>>GEORGE<<<
in response to your question where in the vehicle code does it say that Chris can go 80 miles per hour? It doesturnedyt says:
22350 VC Unsafe Speed
22106 VC Unsafe Start or Backing
21801(a) VC Left Turn Violation
21453(a) VC Red Light Violation
21658(a) VC Straddling or Changing Lanes when Unsafe
my point is that yes they were both violating the law, however Chris legally had he right of way the woman in the car pulled out in front of him and that resulted in his death. had she not done that he would still be alive.
George says
Look any way u look at it he was driving at a high rate of speed u want to blame a women for Chris is carelessness and stupidest move ,do it on a lonely road with people don’t live he was speeding. Slick chic u don’t blame someone else’s if he kid a kid I charge him for murder life in prison he made the choice live with it
bob says
” had she not done that he would still be alive.” umm, had he not been going 80 MPH in a residential, he would still be alive. Now I am not one to speculate (har, har)… but maybe she made her left turn, not because she didnt see him… but because if he had been going the speed limit (which i am sure she assumed he was), then she probably would have had plenty of time to swing into her driveway. I’m not saying that he was a bad guy… i totally get that he was selling the bike.. showing how fast it would go … I’m just saying that you cant say that she was a jerk for for “pulling in front of him” either. Obviously there was not just one poor judgement made that night (hindsight being 20/20 of course)
Gary says
Ok all you armchair quarterbacks. Police report has come out, and guess what?!?!?!?! The woman involved was found at fault and surprise surprise she now can not be found. Poof disappeared. Now all you idiots who think you know what happened now know who’s at fault. May my dear friend Rest In Peace
Mario says
“Double check for bikers” ever heard of that?!
Slickchick says
One more thing Bob. In the future, you should refrain from childish name calling, It proves you have a MICROPHALLUS so you hate the world.
I Wanna Ride Mantra says
My heart goes out to the friends and family. This results when one travels at a rate that exceeds one’s stopping distance. There is no right of way afforded to speeders. Maybe the rest riding bikes will take a moment to consider who’s going to morn your last ride. You have a spouse, kid, or grand-kid and still street riding?
George says
So u say the motor cycle is in the right doing 80 mph ,ur a sacked chick like him ,if he killed a kid its O . Ur stupid
George says
_when u speed u don’t have the right of way ,if Chris was normal driving helmet on OK, he made just as a mistake as she did. Sick chic live with, i feel sorry for the family ur beating up like u know it all I bet u text and drive or talk on ur cell
Blaine says
Chris was my friend and biker brother. I’m going to miss you so much. If there is service or a ride in his honor please post it here or his Facebook page. Thank you.
Jose Alvarez says
Can we all just say, “how sad we are for the family” and, “RIP” ?
Brain says

Jack says
Even if someone is speeding !! Before you make a left pay attention to what’s coming your way… Wait a few more seconds if there approaching… So many lives can be saved!! Everybody is always in a rush to go somewhere….
George says
Look Chris was wrong, don’t blame everything on the lad
y ,if u think . Chris was in the right speeding u bikers are wrong i rode 50 yrs never did what Chris did ,bikers ride like the road is there own at times you guys need to think too, H A never do what Chris did mistakes happen
Abby Avila Rodriguez. says
My condolences to the family….hes in the arms of the angels.
Sjgranai says
One small but lethal detail left out…….no helmet.
hcf says
A helmet wouldn’t have saved him anyway.
My name is? says
High rate of speed straight impact I think he would of died even if he was in a bubble
Mr. Perplexed says
Just to clear things up and leave all the misinformation behind,
Mr. Ramirez, was there to exchange his motorcycle for a car, he wanted to ride his motorcycle one last time and show the new owner how fast the motorcycle could go, so he revved up the engine and within a two block span he reached an approximate speed of at least 80 MPH. Unfortunately apparently neither he, nor the driver turning into her driveway saw each other and the tragedy occurred.
This information is from an acquaintance who is a friend of the man doing the exchange.
Wallace says
I heard it was around 6pm right when the sunset is directly in your eyes. So that was part of the factor too…
Christine says
Don’t be such Hypocritis you people leaving your bad comments we all have driven fast text or on our phones while driving at one point or another!! Bottom line is we SHARE the road with these Motorcyclist and should look out for them as well!!!
George says
Well by the looks of the cars she was in her drive way ,because the front of the car is not hit ,and people need to slow down ,both cars and motorcycles, that motor cycles rear tire made for speed look how big it is
Katherine says
It was a left hand turn, witch explains why the side of the vihical is only messed up.
George says
No helmet, going way to fast ,be honest here ,how many speeding tickets he have why was he selling the bike ???????
barbara humenik says
Because his wife asked him long ago to sell it it has been for sale for a long time
Doriann Byrd says
Chris was getting divorced, he was moving on to the next chapter of his life which didn’t include her or the bike. RIP buddy, our lives are forever changed as was yours.
just me says
They were still in conctact and had plans to bring her home to work on their marriage. Ppl seem to forget they always got back together. They had just video chatted b4 the accident. Said i love you ill call you after i sell the bike.
shirley says
I can’t believe it, he will be truly miss, he was a loving man. And yes people need to slow down and watch out for coming traffic.
Neighbor says
Traveling that direction at that time of the day the sun may block ones vision.
My neighbor was killed on his bicycle in the very same manner. I did not
Know Chris but do ride a bike. Prayers for his mom, dad, family and friends.
Very sad
Ete says
You can’t believe everything you read. It’s states he was speeding but was he really? I wasn’t there, so I don’t know and you don’t either to make that kind of statement. He could have been driving the speed limit which most of the limits over there are 50plus. So if someone turns in front of you and you are going 50 it will be a bad outcome.
Joe says
Residence speed limit is 25. not 50 plus
Tina says
I agree with Joe. There is no good excuse to be driving fast. The speed limit is put in place for just that reason. To prevent accidents. One misjudgment can get you killed. Besides there are other places further out in the desert that are vacant for that kind of thing. Sad he passed. There has been a death almost everyday lately do to misjudgment. What’s going on AV. I’ve lived here 32 yrs. Never have I ever seen it like it is lately.
Jamie says
Out that far the speed limits are 55mph
wow says
NEVER 55 in a residential. I mean come on… scary that uninformed people like you are actually driving our residential streets.
Laughing says
45 MPH in that area
Will says
R-4 and 102nd is not 45 mph. It’s in a residential area next to the high school.
Laughing says
The speed limit signs posted in the area are 45. I agree the neighborhoods should all be 25. I drive at 25-30 once I am off the main streets myself.
Yolanda Balderas Arellano says
How does one NOT see another on the road in front of you, really.. Chris was my brother Willie’s good friend My brother went to heaven in 2009 now he an Chris are in heaven together. My condolences to his wife and family.
speculation says
She probably did see him but expected that he wasn’t going twice the posted speed limit. Had he been observing the speed limit, she would have had plenty of time to safely make the turn into her driveway.
Ciara says
Chris was a really nice guy. He had a kind heart and always wanted to help his friends out. Whenever I needed something, he would reach out to me and asked if I needed help or just someone to talk to. He was a great listener. I never knew him to be speeding so they should really look into this. He will surely be missed. May u rest in peace Chris.
John says
The impact on the side of the Civic tells the story, but I’m no expert on accidents but some things are just st obvious. Thoughts and prayers for the Ramirez family.
Fred says
Civics are beer cans 600 lb Harley type bike 200 lb rider
Easily could do that at no too high speed. Obviously he didn’t
Get a chance to slow down because of an impulsive turn. I
Pray for his family and friends. I hate dumb drivers.
John says
This happened in my block I was outside and this guy was going so fast and distracted that he didn’t see the honda civic. He hit the car so hard I thought the passenger of this car was dead and with that I’m pact that showed me that honda is safe. Oh and did I mention a beef went flying out of the guys motorcycle or hand? Yeah. …
dumbandblind says
Dumb enough to go 80 mph on a residential area thinking it was a runway….. till he went flying.
says you says
Impulsive? Says you! She made an assumption. An assumption that he was driving safely. Does that make her an ass? maybe. Does it make her impulsive? absolutely not.
Doriann says
Chris’s death has impacted a lot of people. I for one am heartsick over his death. So please don’t call him stupid. To err is human.
Cindy Durazo says
I find it hard to believe Chris would speed knowing his line of work. I think they need to really investigate accidents before pointing finger at the deceased. I will always love and miss Chris. He was an amazing person and loved by many.
Michele CR says
So very true
Debby says
I agree….Let the CHP complete their investigation before any judgement is made. I am a victim as well and lost my son at age 19 by a drunk driver driving the wrong way on the wrong way on the 14 freeway in 2002. I encourage all of you should keep this his family in your prayers. Chris was a very good friend of ours as well for many years and we will miss him dearly.
George says
Cindy
People are always not what u see to be leave they are ,Chris was speeding ,his choice ,u say his line of work ,if he was in law enforcement ,he was wrong in all aspects of this crash
Johnny Cervantes says
Chris Ramirez was not just a friend to me, he was my brother and he often referred to me as his brother. All our phone conversations would end with an “I love you” I’m a little at peace knowing this. My heart aches right now for the loss and the thought of his poor parents who I know are having a difficult time especially his mother who just turned 81 years young. Chris, You were a heck of a Man, and truly cared about others. YOU my friend my Brother will be truly missed.
Eric Edwards says
He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him… RIP Chris!
Tanya Mcginn says
I am so very sorry for your loss. My condolences to his loved ones.
Henry Taylor says
Chris you will be missed…. Such a sad ending for an awesome person. Your smile and laugh will be missed. RIP.
Upset citizen says
Stupid people just can’t wait to get home,,, people in the AV really need to learn how to drive especially in littlerock and lake LA
Mike says
People need to learn not to speed.
Laughing says
Concur. Most of Littlerock, Sun Village is a set 45 MPH with a few streets marked 25 MPH. Average speed on Ave S is 60. The burnout, donuts and skids all demonstrate excess speed and stunts.
Everyday at an intersection near my home we watch drivers and dirt bike/quad riders run the stop signs.
Look for people, not cars. Look at the driver, look at the rider, look at the cyclist, look at the walker. Much safer than assuming only cars use the road.
Don't judge says
I’m sure you have went over the speed limit once in your life. In an instant, even one time of speeding you can lose your life or take another life. Speeding may have been a big part but I’m sure the Honda drive was in a hurry as well. We all know hondas love to be in a rush.
Deleace says
Dont judge unless you are perfect and knew anything about Chris he was a great man and even better friend, he was the type of person that would give you the shirt off his back or his meal if you needed it. You are the stupid one to make that comment not knowing who or what you ate talking about. 1st off I can’t believe the civic didn’t see him and if not I can’t believe she didn’t hear him he was on a special construction there not quite and there not that fast I mean there like Harley not rice burners. I believe the civic was not paying attention and turned in front it happens I know it does because my cousin was killed that way in Grand Hills in 2001. RIP Aaron and Chris you will be missed very much.
SlickChick says
Do you actually believe that’s the reason this happened?
Skydiver says
He deserves it. Could have killed my kid. Bikers fault period. Wen are riders going to learn that it’s a risk you choose to leave the safety of a in closed mode of transport u get whàt u get. I live in littlerock and bikes always speed every where. All u defenders need to relax he was in someone else neighborhood breaking the law. Not the person coming home to there fam for dinner
Henry taylor says
Wow, how much of an a%%hole can you be? And a anonymous prick to boot! Piece of s$$t people like you are the ones I would aim for if I was going to crash. Chris did NOT DESERVE THIS! He was a great person! Unlike you, worthless piece of trash!
scubadiver says
He deserves it? No one deserves to be killed. Not even jerks that post on this site. (myself included) So he was speeding? he deserves a ticket. not death. give me a break and find some forgiveness in your life.
