Minor injuries reported after Metrolink train collision

SUN VALLEY – An Antelope Valley Line Metrolink train and a box truck collided Tuesday morning in the Sun Valley area, resulting in 21 injuries on the train, none of them life- threatening, authorities said.

The crash was reported about 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, near the 8200 block of San Fernando Road, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

According to Metrolink, train number 212 was on the Antelope Valley Line and was heading to Los Angeles. The train consisted of six cars, and there were about 190 passengers on board, according to the LAFD.

Paramedics transported 21 people to hospitals, all of them from the train, for treatment of minor injuries, according to the LAFD’s Erik Scott. The truck driver was not injured.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.

The train was stopped at the location until about noon, when it was allowed to continue, according to Metrolink.
