Man shot to death in Lancaster

LANCASTER – A man was found shot to death early Saturday morning in Lancaster, authorities said.

He was identified as 22-year-old William Settle of Lancaster, said coroner’s Lt. David Smith.

The fatal shooting was reported around 1:31 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, in the 1700 block of East Avenue J-4, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

“Lancaster Station deputies were dispatched to the location regarding an ‘assault with a deadly weapon, shots fired’ call,” the news release states. “When they arrived, they found a male… lying on a walkway unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds to the torso area.”

Settle was pronounced dead at the scene.
