LITTLEROCK – Authorities on Thursday held a press conference to seek the public’s assistance in locating a Littlerock woman who has been missing for more than a year.

Monique Figueroa was last seen around 4 a.m. May 19, 2015, driving near her residence in the 7200 block of East Avenue U-12 in Littlerock, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Her car, a 2004 black Mercedes-Benz, was recovered 11 days later in an abandoned shed in Juniper Hills.

“There was no sign of Monique, but there were signs of foul play inside the vehicle,” Deputy Lillian Peck said. “When Monique left, she left her 2-year-old daughter in the care of her family.”

Her family reported her missing several days after she left home.

“Since the initial investigation and discovery of the suspicious circumstances surrounding the found vehicle, the case was assigned to Homicide Bureau detectives,” Peck said.

“Investigators recently received a tip that Monique’s remains may be buried off the 11000 block of Pearblossom Highway in Palmdale,” Peck said. “Detectives, cadaver scent dogs and (coroner’s) personnel investigated the tip and checked the area, but the search met with negative results.”

Monique is described as Hispanic, 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds, with shoulder-length brown hair, and hazel eyes.

A $10,000 reward was offered by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of any suspect or suspects involved in Monique’s disappearance.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to call detectives Karen Shonka or Wayne Holston at 323-890-5500, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.

i love how no one acknowledges that she was a KNOWN DRUG DEALER IN LITTLEROCK. I’ve seen her place before and it had stacks of money and lottery tickets along with marijuana and meth being sold from the house. Maybe it can be that she is WHITE and the media doesn’t want to portray her as such but if it was a person of color it would be different. come on she was leaving to florence(which is a gang and drug infested areas in los angles) and she mysterious disappeared. put the pieces together!!

The article clearly states she is “described as Hispanic” – so instead of playing the race card, maybe you should consider the fact that maybe investigators are trying to draw out potential suspects? Seriously – making it a race issue does nothing conducive!

Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
Anonymous, since you have publically admitted to having 1st hand knowledge of Monique’s alleged lifestyle, then maybe you should talk to detectives and help solve her case. This isn’t about whether Monique is a Saint or a Sinner, it’s about ending the nightmare her family/friends have lived daily for more than a year. FYI, Monique is described as a Hispanic female so racial discrimination doesn’t apply either. Has society become so unfeeling that it doesn’t even care about the youngest, most innocent victim in this case, Monique’s little girl. Stop slinging mud, just help bring her loved ones closure.

First off she’s a person she was my friend so remember that. Second she wasn’t leaving Florence she never got out of the AV to what it looks like. Third if you know she was a drug dealer you must be a druggy yourself and fourth anyone who doesn’t have prayers needs to just be quiet. This is someone’s daughter someone’s sister people! She didn’t run away something bad obviously happened to make her vanish. She is missed very much don’t forget her child will read all this one day have a heart

To anon the his panic card player. She is the same race as you are, Hispanic. You must be a disgruntled buyer saying how you know so much of what and how she allegedly sold known products.
Monique didn’t “mysteriously” disappear, this was a cold and calculated kidnapping. She was nowhere near the Florence area. You sure know a lot about where to score now doncha? SMH.
Shame on your reprehensible comment! You are a jealous bitter nonentity.

The detectives have dropped the ball so many times in the search for Monique. Professionals need to be out excavating the location looking for her remains, not the detectives who aren’t trained to use the equipment. Regardless of peoples opinions of her or who she might have associated with Monique is a daughter, a sister, a mother, and a friend. There are so many people who love & miss her, please if you know anything contact the sheriffs department and help the nightmare her family & friends have been living for over a year end.

I totally agree with you. I can’t not imagine what her children and family is going through. I have a daughter that age I can’t even imagine losing her. It doesn’t matter whom she chose to hang out with police should be actively working on her case. Prayers to her family and friends.

This article is incorrect. The cadaver dogs DID pick up her scent on that property going on 3 weeks now. The detectives on this case have made little to no effort assisting her family in finding her. They have contaminated evidence, and have not blocked off the sight in question as an official crime scene even though her scent was picked up on that property.
