Palmdale man charged with domestic violence murder, kidnapping

by The AV Times Staff • May 24, 2016

LANCASTER – A Palmdale man has been charged with the death of his girlfriend after she allegedly jumped out of a moving pickup truck to get away from him during a fight, authorities said.

Bryan McKim, 57, is charged with kidnapping and murder in the death of his girlfriend of three years, 58-year-old Linda Wood, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The case stems from an incident that occurred in Palmdale on March 3, said Deputy District Attorney Jon Hatami.

McKim was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck near East Avenue R when the couple began fighting.
Prosecutors allege Wood was trying to get away, but McKim continued to attack her and grabbed her by her hair and arms to keep her from exiting the vehicle.

When Wood broke free, she jumped out of the moving truck and hit her head on the street, according to authorities. She died at a hospital nine days later on March 12.

McKim was arrested May 19.

He was scheduled to be arraigned May 23 on one count each of murder and kidnapping, but the arraignment was postponed to June 7.

McKim remains jailed in lieu of $1 million bail.

Maybe he grabbed her so she wouldn’t jump out of a moving vehicle.sometimes things aren’t always as they seem.its unfortunate and sad that this lady died, but must all the blame lay on Mr.mckim?

Or maybe she was getting beaten ( fright = fight or Flight) she chose the later. This guy is a control freak, she wanted to move to Washington to move away from him, she was a kind soul, would never hurt anyone, always willing to help, Her and I were always close, but when I finally spoke to McKim after finding out about her death a week after her death, I asked him why I was not notified earlier, he said that she did not want anyone notified (I doubt that very much!!) maybe to keep her silent? Anyways thanks for letting me vent, I will dearly miss my Beautiful sister Linda, Her Brother Pat

((??) I’m confused here., why would you ask mckim why did he not notify you about Lin

da?is it not the hospital or sheriff dept job to notify next of kin of such things? if she. didn’t want anyone notified she would have to be conscious at some point wouldn’t she?either way why didn’t you inquire about your sisters well being yourself?if you were so close to Linda as you say you are.why didn’t you know about this for over a week? according to you it was mckims responsibility to notify next of kin?why aren’t you asking the sheriff’s dept.this,?where were you while your sister was dying in the hospital?
