Suspected motorcycle thief arrested after crash

by The AV Times Staff • August 3, 2015

LANCASTER – A private security guard helped deputies nab a 54-year-old man who allegedly robbed a victim of his motorcycle early Monday morning and then crashed the vehicle less than an hour later, authorities said.

Raleigh Wall was arrested on suspicion of carjacking in connection with an incident that began around 2:10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, in downtown Lancaster, according to Deputy Joshua Stamsek of the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.

“Lancaster deputies responded to the 900 block of West Lancaster Boulevard regarding a ‘vehicle theft just occurred’ call,” Stamsek stated. “Upon their arrival, deputies learned the victim had been sitting on his running motorcycle when the suspect approached him. The suspect then pushed the victim off of the running motorcycle and fled the area on the motorcycle.”

The thief later crashed the motorcycle at Division Street and Avenue J in Lancaster, according to Stamsek.

“The suspect was detained by a private security guard until deputies’ arrival at the scene of the traffic collision,” Stamsek stated. “The suspect was also found to be in possession of PCP (Phencyclidine) and provided a false name to the deputies.”

Wall was arrested around 3 a.m. Monday and jailed at the Lancaster Station in lieu of $100,000 bail, according to LASD inmate records.
