SANTA CLARITA – Investigators are still trying to locate a 51-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting a man and wounding a woman in Santa Clarita last week.

The man shot to death has been identified as 21-year-old Ledarion Demont Allen Jr. of Lancaster, coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter said Monday.

The shooting was reported around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, in an apartment at a complex in the 27500 block of Sierra Highway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Responding deputies found a woman with a gunshot wound to her shoulder and she was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds, Deputy Guillermina Saldana of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.

Allen suffered a fatal gunshot wound and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene around 4:55 p.m., Winter said.

“Witnesses recalled hearing screams coming from the location prior to gunshots being heard,” according to Deputy Saldana. Two men were seen leaving the location, one headed east and the other west, the deputy said.

A day after the fatal shooting, the sheriff’s department issued a special bulletin along with a photo of suspect Michael Joe McGlothan, aka Michael Batiste, who was identified as the wounded woman’s boyfriend.

McGlothan – who is black, 6 feet 4 inches tall, and weighs 230 pounds – should be considered armed and dangerous, the sheriff’s department warned.

He was driving a black 2015 Chevrolet Impala four-door with the license plate 7FTV649. View the special bulletin here.

Anyone with information about McGlothan is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tips can be provided by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.

My condolences to the young mans family. He was just a kid. I hope everyone keeps an eye open for the suspect. I really hope that drugs were not involved.

FYI To the AV Times and the Sherrifs department, that photo of the vehicle does not match the description of the car. That particular model shown can be a 2006-2012, the 2015 is completely different.
