LANCASTER – Lancaster resident and current Criminal Justice Commissioner Angela Underwood-Jacobs was appointed Tuesday, April 14, to the vacated Lancaster City Council seat that was previously held by Sandra Johnson.

Underwood-Jacobs is the regional manager, senior vice president at California Bank & Trust in downtown Lancaster.

She is a member of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce; she serves as a director for the Antelope Valley Board of Trade; and she is an honorary director at the Children’s Center of Antelope Valley.

Underwood-Jacobs holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business.

She will hold the Lancaster City Council seat until municipal elections take place in April 2016, at which time the position will be up for public vote.

Sandra Johnson, who was appointed to the council in 2011 and elected to the seat in 2012, resigned March 13 to focus on her family and on the University of Antelope Valley. Johnson co-founded UAV with her husband, Marco, and she is the chief financial officer.

The key words here are “member of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce”…aka Republicans perpetuating big business-Big businesses perpetuating Republicans. Can’t we get some qualified people to run this town, not more puppets (as previously mentioned). This is insulting, why do the citizens of this town continue to put up with Rex all but calling us outright stupid and ignorant…actually I think his highness could and get away with it. Shame on him, but even more so shame on us for tolerating this crap…this town as a whole is ignorant and our mayor is evil for exploiting his constituents.

These seats should be voted in-not appointed

Keep dreaming orlean. This is Rex’s Lancaster. Democracy is a fantasy. Bullying, deflection, nepotism, insider deals, idiotic ideas, deception, and the like are the order of the day. The people are an inconvenient nuisance.

We all know Sandra Johnson was the best. We also know this new person, who no one knows, is a puppet. This new person has not done anything for our community. we dont know of any community eventa she has been a major part of, her donating her own money to our community, or donating her own time to netter our community. She’s a “banker”, banker hours. We wish Sandra well and we know she will continue to do for our community. Looking forward to seeing Sandra Johnson come back.
