LITTLEROCK – Authorities need the public’s help to identify the driver who struck a 46-year-old Littlerock woman on Pearblossom Highway and then fled the scene.
Gloria Carrington sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, which occurred around 12 a.m. Saturday on SR-138 (Pearblossom Hwy), west of 75th Street East, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Jordan Richards.
“Early evidence shows that the pedestrian was walking in the westbound lane of traffic when she was struck,” Richards said. “The vehicle that struck her is unknown at this point because it did leave the scene of the accident.”
A passing motorist noticed the body on the side of the road and contacted authorities. Carrington was wearing a pink blouse, black jeans and white sneakers with a pink trim when she was struck, according to officers at the scene.
The vehicle likely sustained heavy front-end damage and a busted windshield, as a lot of glass was left at the scene, officers said.
“We would like to reach out to anybody that has any information on this collision, that might have seen anything, because right now we’re short of witnesses,” Richards said.
Anyone with information on this fatal collision is asked to contact the Antelope Valley California Highway Patrol Office at 661-948-8541.
The westbound lane of SR-138, (Pearblossom Hwy), was closed at 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning and remained closed until around 2:42 a.m. to facilitate the investigation. All westbound traffic was diverted onto 75th Street East.
