LANCASTER – Congratulations are in order for the Antelope Valley High School Drumline. The team won the bronze medal at the Pep and Pageantry Arts Association of Central California Championships in Bakersfield.

The students had been preparing since December for the April 26 championship competition, according to Band Director Stephen Hufford.

“Their practice session included six hours a week of after school practice, as they worked together as a team for one goal – to be AV’s best!” stated proud parent and AV Band Booster Sona Conlin.

The team wowed the judges with a performance titled “Space,” representing the hope, loss, and triumph that occurred in history during the space race.

“It felt great to win the bronze medal,” Hufford stated. “These students have worked incredibly hard and pushed themselves to bring our group to the next level. In the end, it paid off and we have great momentum for our next year.”

The AV High Drumline will join the marching band for the fall season and compete again in both fall and winter of next year, according to Hufford.

Congratulations to the performers!
