High Desert Corridor Rail event set for Wednesday

by The AV Times Staff • February 24, 2014

High Desert Corridor 2

A live webinar will be held Wednesday to discuss the High Desert Corridor’s (HDC) potential rail component and connections to the Palmdale Transportation Center in Palmdale and Desert Xpress in Victorville.

The event is being hosted by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) and the State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).

The webcast will be streamed live starting 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26 at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/4621315897213406209.

Webinar participants will be able to share comments and ask questions during the live webcast.

The HDC Study is currently considering an approximately 63-mile long, east-west multipurpose transportation corridor, between State Route 14 in Los Angeles County and State Route 18 in San Bernardino County.

The HDC could include the following: freeway/expressway, toll lanes, and/or a high speed rail connection, green energy production and transmission, and a bikeway.

The proposed project aims to improve mobility and access for people and goods in the rapidly growing Antelope, Victor Valley areas of Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties.

To stay involved with the HDC project, join the project’s mailing list by visiting www.metro.net/hdc, and completing the form under “Contact us” tab.  You can also learn more about the project’s alternatives, background and interactive map on the project’s website.

A copy of the Alternatives Analysis Report is available online at http://www.metro.net/projects_studies/hdc/images/HDC_Alternatives_Analysis.pdf

For more information, call 888-252-7433 or visit www.metro.net/hdc.

This sounds promising however I have a feeling that I won’t live long enough to see it being built. BTW how’s that high-speed rail coming along that Gov Brown loves so much?

Also, aren’t we in a drought? Got water?

    Priorities I guess. Sigh

Hey, did everybody see Vice President O’Biden on “Late Nite With Seth Meyers” on NBC tonight? VP Biden specifically mentioned this rail project as one of President Obama’s pet projects and is working with Guv Brown to get it pushed through. I thought it was pretty neat that you published this story today and later on that night, the VP is touting it! Nice work!
