LANCASTER – It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas as Lancaster gears up for its fourth annual “A Magical BLVD Christmas” this Friday, December 6, from 5 – 9 p.m.

Downtown Lancaster will be sparkling with dazzling Christmas decorations; gleaming with the sights and sounds of spirited choirs, carolers and performers; and brimming with holiday cheer, as The BLVD plays host to Lancaster’s winter wonderland celebration.

Children are sure to enjoy riding on the holiday train through the festive streets.

“The holiday season never ceases to amaze me. There are many beautiful aspects of this time of year, including time-honored traditions and carols; cherished childhood memories; delicious aromas from holiday feasts and treats; favorite movies which bring smiles to our faces; and festive decorations which tickle our fancy. But beyond all the trimmings, Christmas time warms our souls, bringing people together to celebrate the important aspects of life — faith, family and friends. Events such as A Magical BLVD Christmas help draw the community together to celebrate the beauty of Christmas with our friends and family,” said Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris.

Attendees both young and old are sure to enjoy this year’s entertainment, which will include performances by the Lancaster Baptist Choir, Sunday Night Singers, Lancaster Evangelical Free Church, AV Children’s Choir, AV Ballet and more.

In addition to entertainment, families will enjoy a number of Christmas time activities, including:

  • Riding on the holiday train, which takes a charming journey through the festive streets;
  • Viewing the stroll-by movie “Frosty the Snowman,” at the Western Hotel Museum;
  • Unleashing their creativity by making children’s arts and crafts at Santa’s Workshop; and
  • Helping to create a holiday mural.

In addition, there will be a live ice sculpting demonstration, live reindeer and numerous photo opportunities with Santa, Mrs. Claus and other Christmas scenes. New this year will be a sledding area where children can sled down a snow-covered hill.

Children and adults alike will also enjoy strolling around the Christkindlmarkt holiday market (an open-air shopping experience modeled after the German traditional holiday market) featuring Christmas crafts, food and handmade items. Many of The BLVD’s boutiques and shops will be open, making it a perfect time to pick up gifts for some of the special people on your Christmas list.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to savor delicious holiday treats offered by the numerous food vendors at the event. As always, the one-of-a-kind BLVD restaurants will also be cooking up their very own holiday favorites for discriminating palates.

In addition, the Antelope Valley Transportation Authority (AVTA) will be on-site, hosting their “Stuff-a-Bus” holiday gift campaign. Attendees are invited to bring a new, unwrapped toy to help a needy family enjoy Christmas.

Thousands are expected to attend.

    The event is free along with the activities provide by the City of Lancaster. Some activities are intended for young children, but there is entertainment that can be enjoyed by every age.

    Will there be food and warm drinks available for the homeless or needy. I’d recommend that a blanket and coat collection been be set up as this winter is very cold. I hope the needy are welcomed and given some comfort.
