LANCASTER – Two ski-masked men burst into a Lancaster home Wednesday morning and robbed an elderly couple at gunpoint, authorities said.

The home invasion robbery occurred shortly before 9 a.m. at a residence in the 44700 Block of Raysack Avenue, according to Lancaster Community Relations deputy Michael Rust.

An elderly man and his wife were robbed at gunpoint.
An elderly man and his wife were robbed at gunpoint.

“They forced their way into the home, confronted the occupants with a gun and got an unknown amount of cash,” Rust said. “The house was occupied by a man and his wife, they’re both extremely elderly.”

The couple was not able to see if the suspects ran away on foot or if there was a getaway vehicle. The robbers took only cash, and did not ransack the home or harm the couple, Rust said.

The suspects are described as White males in their late teens or early 20s, wearing all black and black ski masks, Rust said.

“At least one of them was armed with a handgun,” he added.

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact Lancaster Sheriff’s Station detectives at 661-948-8466. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-tips (8477).

I’m getting incredibly scared to live here. My family came up here in 04 to get away from all the crime in the San Fernando Valley and it only followed. Tehachapi here we come.

Have you done your research? It was actually more dangerous here when you moved in 04. The crime rate has actually dropped. Maybe you werent aware of that when you decided to come here. Just a little FYI. Either way it is a crazy place this AV.

Doesnt feel to me like its dropped, maybe your stats are flawed.

Maybe. I can only base my knowledge on the info that is out there. I can’t base it off of my observations, that wouldn’t be reliable at all. However, people are quick to belive Wikipedia so maybe my “observations” would also be a credible source. What are your statistics?

The info is somewhat old, but at least its can give us a basic idea of our situation.

Why wouldn’t your observations be credible ?
Did you read the disclaimer-go with your gut, stats can be tweaked and manipulated;read the paper, look at the crime report,do you feel safer?

Crime here is terrible. Lancaster has a bunch of zombies walking around the streets at all hours. Willing to rob anyone and don’t give a crap about authority or anyone elses property or safety. The stats that’s say crime is down, are a bunch of crap. Look around….

City of Lancaster needs to do more to remove the unwanted trash. They can start by not being section 8 friendly. I get disgusted driving on 10th St West especially between I and K. There are so many thugs roaming in the streets. It sucks we have to drive to Santa Clarita to do our shopping because it feels much more safter!

1st off there ‘s crime every were you go ….things are not prefect , That’s what Sandy Hook thought in Connecticut and look what happened there, so basically you not really safe anywhere , but it just appalls me to read stereotypic things like , section 8 has nothing to do with it , people just are not raising there children correctly any more , and most of the so called crime that goes on in the Av is committed by youth and young adult who are middle class citizens… they have so much time on there hands, everything giving to them so they get board …. most likely there parents are busy working out of the city …. I grow up the Av and it has it bad things, but the good thing out way the bad by a mile ….. People are amusing: I’m so afraid to shop here …lol if you don’t like it here move to Valencia ….simple as that… I get so tired of people and the ignorant comments on the AV times if you don’t like the AV move out…but you cant because you cant afford it because you have the same income as the people … that you judge and look down on … hilarious ..People get off the AV times get a job and life ….lol

I don’t think its the world, I think it will be someone close to them or who knows them in some way and how vulnerable they are.Maybe friends of someone in the family, or a neighbor who knows their habits.

I totally agree. This was not a random target. Someone knew something and about what money they had.

Unknown amount of cash? Its known, they just won’t release the info now. Could be big, like 1K, 20K or 100K, hard to say at this point.

This case can be solved – just need a few good detectives to work it..

… the city of Lancaster needs another ad campaign, situate more billboards in south central and east L.A., beckoning more bikers, punks, drug dealers, pimps, gang-bangers and welfare recipients, to the beautiful opened spaces of the low rent high desert. Line item, in bold red, off to one side: “… Easy shoplifting! All the retirees wallets you can help yourself to! Rob, to your heart’s content!” — asj.

    • Tak says

      May 15, 2013 at 4:26 pm

Did you notice that the article said “white males”? Not all criminals come from south central or east l.a., some come from right here. Not very many white gangsters in south central or east L.A. But there are many white gangsters in Lancaster that were born and raised here, and would not even know where south central, or east L.A. is. So look within before you accuse. No sterotypes or racism.

Why not? Not all criminals come from south central an east L.A. Look in your own backyard before you accuse.
