LANCASTER – A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing another man multiple times in Lancaster Friday afternoon, authorities said.

The attacked took place around 4:30 p.m., according to deputy Miguel T. Ruiz of the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.

Deputies were flagged down by concerned citizens at the intersection of Lancaster Boulevard and Yucca Avenue regarding a stabbing victim, Ruiz stated.

The victim, who had several lacerations and stab wounds, said he was attacked by a knife-wielding Hispanic man, Ruiz stated.

The victim told deputies his attacker left the scene heading eastbound on Lancaster Boulevard, and deputies quickly caught up to a fleeing suspect a few blocks east of the incident, Ruiz said.

The suspect was identified as 40-year-old Russell Karl Barboa of Lancaster.

Barboa was also injured while attacking the victim, and he was treated at a local hospital, according to Ruiz.

Barboa was then arrested for attempted murder and booked at the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station on $1 million bail.

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. He was listed in stable condition Friday night.

Love the Mayor or hate the Mayor, the revitalization of the downtown area has provided much needed jobs and has allowed small businesses to compete with the big corporations. Shop Local and support small business!!!

Like…. I think the BLVD revamp has provided something the AV has been missing for years… A “happening” place for younger adults to hang out and have a good time. It reminds me of a small scale promenade.

Sheriff’s need to look into the corner of Lancaster blvd and Sierra blvd at the Lockheed plaza, homeless hang out there every day with their dogs, grocery carts full of trash, right across the street from the Sheriff’s station.

It’s called Boeing Plaza and it’s public property. Please inform the rest of us how you would handle this situation without violating their rights to peacefully congregate in a public place?

“The BLVD” lies between 10th West and Sierra… Yucca is East of that area.
