Human skull found in Quartz Hill

QUARTZ HILL– Homicide detectives, a cadaver dog, coroner’s officers, and search and rescue workers were on scene Monday morning conducting an extensive search and investigation in the area where a human skull was found Sunday afternoon.

The discovery was made around 3:55 p.m. near a property in the 6200 Block of West Avenue N in Quartz Hill.

According to witnesses at the scene, more remains were found Monday morning just south of the location of the initial find.

There is no further information available at this time.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.

UPDATED @ 3 pm: This just in from the sheriff’s department

LASD Homicide Bureau Detectives, investigative personnel from the Coroner’s Office, and members of the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station Search and Rescue Team conducted a thorough search of the area [on Monday, April 15] and found more human remains in the area where a human skull was found yesterday.

Clothing found on and around the remains seem to indicate that the remains are female, but actual identification will be established through dental records.

There is no further information available at this time.

    I live in the AV and there is a saying that if you asked all the dead bodies to please stand up we would have a forest of the dead :(

    from my understanding they believe this may have been a woman who committed suicide, so in this particular case, I do not think we have a killer running loose …..

    The AV has been a popular dumping ground since the 1930’s. The Mafia used to dump bodies out here.

    Trut me, there’s hundreds of bodies yet to be discovered.

    AS FAR AS I CAN RECALL SINCE 2010 HUMAN REMAINS HAVE BEEN FOUND THROUGHOUT THE AV! I WONDER IF THEY HAVE EVER BEEN IDENTIFIED? THIS IS WHAT? THE SECOND OF SET OF REMAINS, REMEMBER THE ONE FROM AVE H AND DIVISION ST?

      As stated before, this was and probably still is a dumping ground for drug deals gone wrong etc….I have been here for 50 years and it was that way then…nothing new…except more people so they come across more bones.

    Hopefully they look at this case too, especially since 60th is a commonly used route to Santa Clarita. Hope we don’t have a serial killer running loose!

    Master Si was a very dear friend of mine. He was my sons master and mentor.
    It is beyond words heartbreaking for the whole family. The young kids were wonderful children and there momwas one of the kindest woman I ever had the pleasure of meeting.

    There will never be any clouser to that murder,, 2 young childern and 2 adults slattered,,, then set afire,,, and the 2 that did it will just set in jail,, never get tried,,

      I was just thinking the same thing since his body has never been recovered. Hopefully it is so the family can put closure to the horrible crime.
