Help wanted: Playhouse guest director, lifeguards

PALMDALE – The city of Palmdale is seeking applicants for the position of guest director for a holiday production of “The 1940’s Radio Hour,” scheduled to take the stage in December 2013 at the Palmdale Playhouse.

“This is a unique opportunity for aspiring directors to showcase their talent in a community theatre environment,” said Palmdale’s Recreation Supervisor Annie Pagliaro.

Applications are available on the City’s Web site, the Parks & Recreation office located at 38260 10th Street East, and at the Palmdale Playhouse located at 38334 10th Street East in Palmdale.  All applications will be reviewed and one entry will be selected.  Applicants will be notified by mail on or before June 1, 2013.

“We’re excited to have this opportunity to produce a quality show and we’re equally as excited to partner with someone in our community to bring quality live theatre to the Playhouse,” Pagliaro said.

All rehearsals and performances will be held at the Palmdale Playhouse.  Auditions are scheduled for September 20 and 21.   The rehearsal schedule will be determined at a later date.

Deadline to submit your application is Wednesday, May 15. Mail or hand deliver application to: Annie Pagliaro, Recreation Supervisor, 38260 10th Street East, Palmdale, CA  93550.

Lifeguard positions available at city of Palmdale

Lifeguards PalmdaleThe City of Palmdale’s parks and recreation department is seeking candidates for Lifeguard positions at the City’s pools and DryTown Water Park this summer.

Interested persons may complete an online application at www.cityofpalmdale.org. Applications may also be filled out at the City of Palmdale’s Human Resources Department, 823 East Avenue Q-9, Suite B in Palmdale, Mondays through Thursdays from 7:30 am to 6 pm.

Lifeguard candidates must be at least 17 years of age by May 1, 2013.

Applicants will need to qualify through a swim test and verbal interview.  Candidates must have successfully completed a Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification course and possess a current lifeguard certification that includes First Aid, CPR, and AED before  applying for the position.

    Plenty of time to look for a guest director. I know that there are lots of them out there who are willing to showcase their talents and use this opportunity as a stepping stone to success. You got to start somewhere.
