7-Eleven robbed at gunpoint, suspect sought

by M. Dilworth • November 21, 2012

LANCASTER – Deputies are searching for an armed robber who held up an east Lancaster convenience store early this morning (Nov. 21), authorities said.

The incident happened shortly before 6 a.m. at the 7-Eleven convenience store at 844 East Avenue J, according to Lancaster Sheriff’s deputy Miguel T. Ruiz.

An unknown Black male, armed with a handgun, entered the store, demanded money from the business clerk and left with an undisclosed amount of money, Ruiz stated in a news release.

The clerk was not injured in the robbery.

Investigators are working to determine if the incident is related to previously reported robberies, Ruiz stated.

This past weekend, five Lancaster businesses were robbed between 5:45 p.m. Saturday and 9:35 a.m. Sunday. Detectives believe all five robberies were committed by a Black male, between 18 and 30-years-old, Ruiz said previously.

Anyone with information on the 7-Eleven robbery, or any of the recent commercial robberies in Lancaster, is asked to contact Lancaster Station’s Robbery Suppression Team at 661-948-8466.

If you would like to remain anonymous, you may do so by calling Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

I thought the ‘flying camera’ was supposed to catch these guys.

Flying Camera!!!! Why don’t any of these businesses or surrounding businesses have cameras? Don’t busy corners have red light cameras that snap pictures? I know it wouldn’t be aimed at the robber but might catch what direction he comes from or goes? What is he wearing? What kind of shoes? What are those favorite clothes that he came back to the store wearing?

I wonder the same thing every time a school is vandalized. Do they have motion detectors with lights and alarms and cameras on school sites?

        If not, why not?

There seems to be so much more money in the “budget” for cleanup or “the hunt” than prevention and catching someone in the act of committing a crime. I don’t get it.

Cameras are not the magic bullet, pardon the pun, for crime prevention. Most criminals hide their appearance so what do the cameras see? A guy, or is it a girl, in a hoodie etc. It also depends on where the cameras are located and the quality of the system they have as to whether a useable image can even be recovered.

Elaine, Cameras are NOT a magic bullet for sure. I’ll bet most people can recognize someone familiar to them by the way they walk, their posture, eyes, visible tatoos, favorite sweatshirt, transportation (bike) etc.
A video was released today and I bet someone will recognize the guy holding the gun on the store clerk and ROBBING THE CUSTOMER. Another reason not to carry a purse in this town.
In the video you can hear the clerk pleading with the robber for her life. I hope she is okay. Having a gun in your face is really scary.
A tear tatoo by his eye and a tatoo on his neck…wow I saw a few hundred of them today.
If I were a cop, I’d cruise the apartments looking for the bikes. Just a thought.

If I were a cop, I’d stake out the local liquor stores, barber shops, and known dealer corners.

these slimeballs doing the crimes don’t want a real job..they would have to pull their pants up over their ass, conform to company policies, be honest, and actually show up to work everyday.. they enjoy the gangster lifestyle..all you jolly do gooders thinking all we need to do is give them a job needs to live in the real world. when you or your family or friends get robbed by one of “these” then you might think twice. better just force them to join the military and try to make them grow up and act like decent humans.

Right you are, like many in this society, rich or poor, they want no boundaries or rules, no one telling them what to do.Hard to keep a job with that mentality.

There you go, have them join the military.

        November 24, 2012 at 11:14 pm

Just what we need (not) more gang members in the military learning how to use all those guns and figuring out ways to get them back home. Strange to see pictures sent home to a mother of a solder and see LA gang graffiti in the background on buildings in Afganistan.
Military isn’t the answer for gangsters…

Understand where you’re coming from but don’t forget that back in the day, forties, fifties, sixties many young men were given that option by a judge, join up or go to jail.Of course what they were guilty of probably has no comparison to the stuff today’s juvenile delinquents are doing.

It cost too much to house these guys for doing these crimes, maybe we can put aside some of that money and hurry up and make some jobs, so they can earn money for themselves for a living.

Instead of just collecting a GR check maybe they can do something that they either already have experience in or assign them to a job, classes or groups.

Also, if big businesses are making over a certain amount maybe they should have to employ more people.

Also, I say help out the people who have small businesses, and people that are trying to make ends.

Just like people are intitled to social security, maybe we should create something where they are put to work, maybe they can call an 800 number, and put in there employee ID# and it list jobs and people can show up for work for part time or full time work.

I heard about this veteran who sent out 700 resumes, and only got 6 interveiws out of it.

UMMMM!!! WUT MAKES YU THINK THESE THUGS WANT TO WORK? IF THEY REALLY WANTED TO WORK THEY CAN GO TO THE FIELDS AN GO DO SOME WORK OUT THERE. DO YOU HONESTLY THINK I WOULD WANT TO WORK NEXT TO A CRIMINAL? I SAY GATHER THEM ALL UP AN SEND THEM TO IRAQ AN SEE IF THEY WOULD COMMIT THE SAME CRIME OUT THERE! THESE THUGS PREY ON THE INNOCENT VICTIMS!! SO THAT JUST MAKES THEM COWARDS!!!

People are not “entitled “to social security, the money was forced from them all of their working lives.

Straight from the mouth of a socialist. Those who work or are successful should be required to hire society’s losers and criminals

You are right it does cost too much to house these guys. We should light them on fire and laugh at them when they run down the street.

      Just kidding lol!

Have you considered sponsoring a felon and giving them 25% of YOUR earnings?

You seriously think they want to work? Oh yea create some high paying jobs at 8.00 an hour. They can get more robbing 5 7 Eleven’s. The problem with crime in this country is because of two things. Overly sensitive wussies with a P that think all these bad apples are victims and should be treated with kindness. Secondly this stupid war on drugs. Waste of time.

3 Strikes and your in the ground. No questions asked. Get tough on crime and it will decrease. One because the not so bad apples will be scared and secondly the habitual offenders will be DEAD.

Either man up or become a victim yourself.

What the heck do you expect? Just look around and this area is an extension of So. Central L.A., Compton & Watts and many places look like “the projects”. This is why all that goes bump in the night and stick em up fool and give me your hard earned cash is rampant…It’s no surprise that all these robbers, shoplifting, burglaries, etc., are going on and on. The sidewalks on Lancaster Blvd. are rolled up at night so no where to go except stores that are open 24/7. Everybody wants a hand-out and I just tell them o.k. so who’s going to me a hand-out….
The political a–holes have made all this possible so go thank them in person.

Do any of these busnesses have video or is the management/owner so cheap they don’t provide even that level of protection? Seems like the stores being robbed or other business would have cameras inside or outside. These robbers need to stopped before they hurt someone. Or better yet, Dirty Harry blows them away.

If only 7-11 had hired a local Detective Agency to guard themselves and look after all the Slim Jims and other delectable delicacies that 7-11 is known for. By chance, does anyone know a local Defective Detective Agency, in say Pearblossom, that could be hired to protect these establishments?
