Palmdale man dies in fiery crash

by K. Enrique • August 5, 2012

Fatal single-vehicle crash location.

PALMDALE – A 46-year-old Palmdale man was killed in a fiery crash early Sunday morning.

Bobby Phillips was traveling on Rancho Vista Boulevard around 1 a.m. when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree at the intersection of Avenue Vista Verde in Palmdale, authorities said.

“His vehicle became engulfed in flames,” said Lieutenant Ken Wright of the Palmdale Station.  “Deputies from Palmdale and Lancaster Stations attempted to remove the driver but his body was pinned in the driver compartment.”

Phillips, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene and appears to have died at the time of the initial impact, Wright said.

“The cause of the accident is currently unknown due to no witnesses, no skid marks, and no other evidence indicating another vehicle being involved,” Wright said.

Officials were unable to immediately identify the type of vehicle Phillips was driving, but Wright said it was a “very expensive vehicle of some kind.”

Bobby you will be missed, when I would talk to Rob on the phone I always asked about you.. May you RIP and God comfort your mother at this time, say Hi to Glen , your dad and also my mom & dad, I know my dad would want to know all the cars you had, cause you have had some.. Wow is all I can say!! I knew Bobby growing up. He and my brother were best friends. He was a car buff. So was my dad. If he needed advice or to borrow a tool he would come over and talk shop with my dad. You could always find my dad and brother over at his house across the street working or talking about cars or just talking about life. I remember he was in a band growing up and would play music in his garage at odd hours of the night. He was always a friend to someone. A couple of years ago my sister and I had to fly to California for family business. We stayed at my brothers. While we were there Bobby came up to my brother to see us. We talked all night and told stories about when we were young. The remember this kind. We laughed until it hurt and years rolled down our eyes. Great memories to always have. Bobby you will surely be missed by many. You were loved by many. I will never forget you!! I pray for your family to find peace!! I know you are now with your brother that you missed so dearly and also with your dad! Also with my parents. I’m sure you all are talking shop!! RIP my friend!!

Shock. Is the first thing that comes to mind. Today I just found out that my best friend passed away. I spoke to his mom tonight and she didnt know how to contact me. Ive known Bobby since age 3. We grew up on DuPont street together. I knew his brother. All family friends. Bobby loved his cars. We used to work on them together. He would come down the street and talk to Dad and get advice. There are many of not all who do not know who I am. Bobby was like that, private. Did his own thing and left others alone. I just saw him a couple of months ago when he came over to show off his new Mercedes. We hung out, talked shop and reminisced about stuff. Even got a ride. He took all of us. My youngest boy doesn’t know yet, he idolized Bobby. My oldest boy also is affected. Because of his work, and just being Bobby, huge amounts of time would go by without us talking. So it’s no surprise I would find out this way. Perhaps it’s for the best. I will miss you brother. You are forever in my heart.

I knew Bobby growing up. He and my brother were best friends. I am in shock of this news and am still trying to comprehend it. He was a great guy. Funny and kind. He loved his toys.. Growing up I would bug my brother and him when they were hanging out. He will greatly be missed and forever loved and cherished. May peace find his mom as this time. He is now with his brother and father.

Bobby was my neighbor in Oxnard. He was a very quiet guy, but loved his cars. Always out in his garage doing something to them. After his father and brother passed, he was the only immediate family his mother had. He took good care of her. Even purchased her a new car. He worked hard for what he had. Even though I didnt speak to him much, you could tell he loved his mother and nephew very much. I feel so heart broken that this happened, its unbelieveable. May he rest in peace. BTW, Bill..I remember years ago, him and his high school band mates practicing in the garage!! =) good memories.

Years back Bob would come buy and play guitar with or band. We called him Dr. Bob because he was so good on his guitar. He will be sorely missed. RIP Dr. Bob.

Bobby Phillips was a close friend of mind and a co-worker. He was well liked by many of his peers. This is such a great lost, I can’t even put into words.
