PALMDALE – Three days before the highly anticipated landing of NASA’s “Curiosity” rover on Mars, NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center will host a Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) exhibit at the AERO Institute in the Palmdale Civic Center.

The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, August 2, in conjunction with the City of Palmdale’s weekly Thursday Nights on the Square (TNOTS) festival in Poncitlan Square.

Dryden’s MSL event will highlight the scheduled Mars landing of Curiosity on the evening of Aug. 5.

Dr. Kelly Fast, Mars program scientist at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C., will give three 20-minute-long presentations on the MSL landing and science mission at 6, 7 and 8 p.m.

Along with the presentations, MSL rover hardware and graphics will be on display, along with educational materials about the mission.

For more on NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory, visit the NASA website.

This week’s TNOTS will also feature a Candy Carnival, kids can try their hand at the lollipop ring toss, gumdrop tic tac toe and the gumball challenge.  Kids can win tickets at every game and turn them in for prizes.  TNOTS will feature country music by Tombstone.

For all of you teenagers who are looking for a career, take a look at this.
This is the future. There are so many facets in this career that you will be surprised. For all you mothers and fathers who have children take them to this exhibit. You will not be sorry.

Right on, Ed! With the Palmdale Aerospace Academy opening, we can offer our young people the opportunity and choice to focus on science, technology, engineering and math careers such as this.
