The beautiful super bloom has begun, and it is absolutely breathtaking! The hills are covered in orange, and yellow. I love the desert, and I love California.
QH Holdover says
Me too and I’m only bummed out about the solar panels through out the Poppy Preserve. We thought that was protected and now we find out the solar is promoted by the same people that should have preserved the natural beauty of our Preserve. Greed is everywhere.
Poppies says
We will have one of the best blooms in years and people will come from everywhere only to be disappointed by miles of solar panels. They will probably never come back. It is very sad.
Ignacio P. says
You can thank California’s politicians. Its just one of the many ways Pelosi’s posse keeps getting richer.

I remember years ago when you filled out the survey from Burger King, you got a free Whopper. Now you have to buy a side?? Anyone else remember that? And when did BK start that?

RE: Solar farms.
I wonder how doable it would be to install solar panels over the SR-14 from Avenue S north to Mojave and even SR-138 (Avenue D).
The land wouldn’t have to be purchased or disturbed as it is now.
No Valley Fever
The shade would be welcome in August.
All the land devoted to transportation would serve a dual purpose.
They could make it even more attractive by putting Christmas lights on them year round, y’know, like that one house in your neighborhood.
In other news, the shameless republicans who trashed Michael Cohen during his hearing didn’t defend trump at all. John Dean pointed that out as he was in the same spot that Cohen is in now.
Tim Scott says
I thought that the best line of the day was “They aren’t mad at you for lying, they’re mad because you stopped.”
As an aside, for the first time ever I can say that I was impressed by my congresscritter. Katie Hill is a HUGE step up from the previous line toeing GOP shills.
Random Stranger says
That would impede oversize loads, (the kind that have to exit and re-enter at bridges). Also the ICE.
Tim Scott says
They could be mounted higher than bridges so as to not impede oversized loads at all.

Looks like the great negotiator failed to land another negotiation during a second try to his first negotiation and the hype that this time it would be a great negotiation and that last time it was great negotiation too, but not as good as time was going to be, and that the Nobel Peace price was his for sure (eat it, Obama.)
In fairness, it was a sticking point about sanctions. He probably turned to Kim and said “we gonna take away all the sanctions, your lordship”, and Kim said “no kimchi for you”, and Trump got mad and left the table. But this is just a picture in my head, I have no proof.
Worker says
This excerpt from Cohen’s testimony today: “Trump directed me to call business owners, many of whom are small businesses, that were owed money for their services and told them that no payment or a reduced payment would be coming. When I asked Mr. Trump or when I told Mr. Trump of my success — he actually revelled in it.”
Trump sounds a lot like our own local meglomaniac who threatens not to pay or sue you for work done.
Trump and Rex are two of a kind.
Ignacio P. says
Stop with the crumb snatching. Cohen is an admitted liar as proven in November of last year and even some dimwit Dems called him out for lying again. Sorry your against the great American Constitution little one, but it would be so much easier on yourself if you just left this country now. I’m a proud LEGAL immigrant that is honored to call myself AMERICAN!
I have to say that I do agree on one part your idiotic comment. Rex is a liar, thief and cheat. He’s proven himself to be democrat hiding behind the republican name.
Alexis says
Fasten your seatbelts! There’s going to be a very big shake up in 2019.
Chairman Mao says
FLASH BACK – Remember when Rex was trying to sneak birth tourism by us?
Most mayors courting China focus solely on investment, but Parris was playing all the angles. He wanted to bring in full-tuition Chinese students to fund a local college. He tried to arrange for Chinese millionaires to fund construction projects through “immigrant investor” green cards. He hoped building a Buddhist temple would attract immigration.
And in the fall of 2013, he went too far. That year, he hatched a new plan to bolster the beleaguered community hospital: Chinese birth tourism. The Antelope Valley Hospital was in dire financial straits, with 40 percent of patients uninsured and unable to pay their bills. Moody’s had recently downgraded the hospital’s debt rating to Baa3, one notch above “junk bonds.”
Parris and Abdallah Farrukh, a Lebanese-born neurosurgeon who chaired the hospital’s board of directors, proposed building a new hospital wing dedicated to rich Chinese women, and they arranged for a Chinese delegation to tour the hospital.
“It’s a welcome business,” Farrukh told a reporter. “It’s phenomenal. They pay up front, and they pay double what Medicare pays.”
But locals were outraged. Welcoming foreign businesses was one thing, but bringing Chinese mothers to the Mojave desert to pop out American citizens for a fee just touched too many nerves: immigration, an evaporating white majority, the decline of middle America, and the rise of “Communist China.”
A poll showed 95 percent opposition in town. Nurses from the hospital laid into Farrukh at a board meeting. A cartoon in the Antelope Valley Times depicted a stream of Chinese military women marching out of the hospital, a baby cradled in one arm and Mao’s Little Red Book in the other.
Parris was blindsided. “To me it made perfect sense,” he told me. “You have affluent Chinese coming over here, and their children become U.S. citizens. We don’t want that?!? … What we should be doing is saying, ‘If you have a Ph.D. in money, we’ll pay you to come.’ Seriously!”
He quietly shelved the plan, but the anti-China backlash was gathering steam. Just as the birth-tourism outrage was dying down, the California Labor Commissioner conducted a surprise raid of BYD’s Lancaster factory. The inspectors found Chinese employees at work and slapped BYD with $100,000 worth of fines, claiming they paid the laborers as little as $1.50 per hour. Union protesters protested outside BYD’s LA headquarters. A group called Asian Americans Advancing Justice attempted to hand out Chinese-language fliers to BYD workers informing them of their rights.
Alexis says
Yet after all you typed, Mayor Parris was re-elected again in 2016. 11.2% voter turnout says people don’t care what happens in Lancaster. Blame the people and their apathy.
Not My Mayor says
No one is claiming that Lancaster voters are intelligent. The voting results prove the opposite. You have to be pretty dim to vote for a man who believes bird sounds lower crime.

Another New York City building named after Trump has voted to take his name down.
The “Trump Place” building at 120 Riverside Blvd will be the 6th NYC building to remove Trump’s name since 2016.

Valley Fever…Take a look at this. “valleyfeversurvivor.com, Valley Fever maps and history.” Your little part of the world isn’t the only place; millions of people are susceptible. Move somewhere that doesn’t have dust. I’m going to enjoy the poppies in the many places they will be, and maybe we’ll have a super bloom this year.
Alexis says
I hope that the harbingers of doom don’t stop you from appreciating the beautiful spring desert flowers that come in so many colors.
Valley Fever says
I will go out and see what few poppies are left, but like those who work the solar farms I will be wearing a mask. Soon there will be no poppies to see. There will just be miles and miles of ugly panels that have disrupted our way of life, forced wildlife to flee, and exposed people and animals to a potentially deadly disease. But life is good in Laguna, right?
QH Holdover says
Large scale top soil disruption in a area of the West valley that historicly is the flood zone to Edwards makes a impact that was most likely not analized in the environmental clearance. Thats a Valley Fever stew pot boiling all over Antelope Acres. They have every right to speak up!
Alexis says
I love the desert! It gives, and it takes away. This year we will most likely be given the gift of a super bloom. Thank you Lord!
Rooftop Solar For All says
Too bad half the poppies will be covered up by those ugly solar panels. Be sure you wear a mask if you go out there. Valley Fever is no joke. Ask the residents of Antelope Acres who have had their quiet rural lifestyles robbed from them by the greed of the bearded man who lives in Laguna.
Alexis says
Don’t forget gentrification and mostly Jerry Brown. I wonder if Governor Newsome will pick up where Brown left off. Anyone that has a computer can research Jerry Brown’s push for solar in the Mojave desert. Too many people in this valley focus too much on Parris, and can’t see beyond.
Alexis says
Correction…Newsom.
Bangladesh says
Jerry Brown wasn’t annexing Antelope Acres into the city of Lancaster to build solar farms. Rex was and is.
Jerry Brown wasn’t a doomsayer making claims like Bangladesh would be destroyed in his lifetime. Rex is and did.
The west Antelope Valley is forever ruined not on account of Jerry Brown, but Rex.
Alexis says
Bangladesh…I have lived on all sides of the Mojave desert and I loved it from the beginning. The fact is with billions of dollars in federal stimulus money in hand, the Obama administration set on a grand experiment in the California desert. The goal: Open public lands to renewable energy development to wean the nation from fossil fuels. Quoting Joni Mitchell, “You don’t know what you got till it’s gone.” Miles of unspoiled desert scraped and bulldozed to make way for sprawling arrays of solar panels. Jerry Brown, along with Rex Parris, and many others chose to destroy this beautiful Mojave desert, and it is heartbreaking for those of us that love the Mojave desert. I choose to see the bigger picture, not just what Rex does. Thank you for your thoughts on this matter.
Alexis says
You know there is a 20-megawatt solar array on Air Force owned property in Palmdale. 98,000 solar panels on 180 acres with Ledford at the ribbon cutting. I would say that kicks up some dust too. Maybe that’s o.k. as long as it’s not in your back yard. This is definitely not a political party issue, because both parties endorse solar panels in the A.V. Anyway, I will be looking forward to a super bloom this spring, hopefully. There still are some areas that one can enjoy.
QH Holdout says
Kinda just like how the Lancaster Council knows best. They knew solar on the Westside was good for the poppy’s. The same as the out of control crime rate from micromanagement of the Sheriff Dept. by these same know it all City Council members. They have know idea what they are doing yet they continue and the crime rate gets worse. Let the experts do the job they are trained for please. These Council idiots only are making it worse.
Laughing says
The Mojave Desert is a huge area of California. The parts Jerry Brown pushed are the large mirror units out in the southeast desert and headed out to Vegas.
The bird melters.
Union Made says
Let’s not forget Kathy “job killer” MaClaren brought all the Union labor that actually worked to destroy our Westside forever. She is the Rex Parris of labor. Two peas in a pod for plunder.
Alexis says
What about the solar array in Palmdale? Is she guilty of that too? Is Ledford guilty by being there for the ribbon cutting? And the beat goes on, and on. are you in the union? If you are, then you are a destroyer also.
Acres says
The only solar I have seen in Palmdale in large scale is off of Avenue M across from Northrup. No poppy fields there, just industry. Rex Parris is leading the charge to annex our rural Antelope Acres and destroy our community with those ugly and potentially deadly solar field. When the tourists come up this year to see the poppies they will see what this monster has done to our beautiful desert.
Alexis says
Valley fever doesn’t just stay in one place, so it doesn’t matter where in the Mojave desert solar arrays are placed. Whether in Palmdale, Lancaster, or anywhere else. Rex Parris isn’t the only one that wants solar fields. Jerry Brown wanted 50% solar by 2030. James Ledford was for solar. Don’t know about Newsom. There are still plenty of places to visit to enjoy the poppies.
Solar Power says
We know for certain that rooftop solar does not cause Valley Fever. We also know that the majority of people who live in Antelope Acres do not want solar farms next to their homes and schools. We know that the closer you are to all that newly disturbed soil, the greater the risk of exposure to the Valley Fever spores.
They should build those solar farms were build along the 14 freeway north of Mojave and away from homes and schools.
Alexis says
Well, there is zero chance that all the people in California are going to decide to live off the grid. My parents brought me to this beautiful desert when Lancaster Blvd. was the main street, and there was no freeway. When people move here, change happens, and there is nothing we can do about the situation, so I hope you can find some peace, and focus on being grateful for what you have. People like electricity, and that’s why there are solar farms, wind farms, and power plants, etc. It all messes with the environment. If Valley fever doesn’t get you, something else will, and there’s too many ways to make a person sick to mention, even going to the grocery store buying tainted food.
Union Made says
To compare the destruction of our AV Westside poppies to a industrial use is a classic “me too” move. No the two do not compare but nice try. Kathy “job killer” MaClaren is in bed with the devil
and I am not talking about her poor suffering husband.
Alexis says
Solar Power…I used to live in Antelope Acres, and valley fever is the least of the problems in that area. Anyway, we don’t live in a bubble. If you’re warm blooded and breathe, you can get valley fever. You can also get E.coli, salmonella, that virus from mice, flu, drinking poisoned water (Hinckley), etc.
Acres Living says
Solar farms have ruined Antelope Acres. They are ugly and disturb the soil. Who in their right mind would put them next to a school? Valley Fever is no joke. Our dog got it too.
Belly acres says
Industrial use? what are you talking about? Solar supplies electricity.
Ray Ray says
You can have plenty of electricity without destroying Antelope Acres. I’m sure when Rex flies in his private gasoline fueled plane he see the vast expanses of open land along the 14 freeway where there are few if any homes and no poppy fields. Rex and the boys are just making money hand over fist by annexing Antelope Acres into Lancaster with no regard for our health or well being. If I ever strike it rich, I will buy the house next to his in Laguna and invite people like Raymond Lee Jennings, Randy Floyd, Esmeralda Jorge, Johnathan Ervin, David Abber, David Grejeda, James Ledford, anyone of Middle Eastern descent, Michael Rives, and anyone who he has ruined or dislikes for lots of good times.
Alexis says
Why do you blame Rex? Rex is the same before he was elected mayor as he is now. He is on his fourth, yes, fourth term as mayor. Why? because of voter apathy. Only 11.2% of the voters took the time to vote, that is pitiful. You keep blaming Rex for all the ills of Lancaster, yet hardly anyone cares enough to make a change. The people get the politicians they deserve when they don’t care. Oh, all the excuses like the elections are held in April; well that’s been happening for decades, and anyway everyone got that ugly hit-mailer right before the election, and everyone remembers that. Some people would rather complain everyday about their lot in life, and what a devil Rex is, rather than make a change, and vote him out. Stay miserable and complain, and see where that gets you. Stress kills!
Ray Ray says
Why blame Rex? He is the mayor of Lancaster. He has a council of hand picked stooges that do whatever he tells them to do. Rex is trying to cover over decades of inside deals, nepotism, illegal purchases, character destruction, and idiotic ideas by portraying himself as an environmentalist. Never mind the fact that he lives in two huge energy consuming houses and has a private plane fueled by fossil fuels.
Rex is leading the movement to annex Antelope Acres into the city of Lancaster to build solar farms. Heaven knows how much he and the boys are making on them. We know that Antelope Acres was once a beautiful rural community that is being systematically destroyed by actions led by one man.
That man is Rex. That is why we blame him.
Alexis says
Come soon, Lord!
Grim Reaper says
Yea, verily, Alexis. Come soon and purge Lancaster of the evil doers who use tax payer money to line their own pockets. Smite those who would ignore the homeless and poor while they enrich themselves. Send a plague of locusts to the BLVD and Fern Street to let the evildoers know that the insider deals must stop.
On second thought, leave the BLVD alone. It has enough problems as it is.
William says
Alexis has spunk and isn’t afraid to use it.
Alexis says
@William…You know a lot about what’s going on with the politics in the A.V. I know nothing about what’s going on, I really don’t. All I know is that I was shocked when I heard Rex Parris became mayor of Lancaster in 2008. I am still amazed that he has lasted four terms, especially with all the craziness that accompanies him and those that are in alignment with him. I shook my head at what he was willing to do, putting out a hit mailer about a person running against him. All he has done and still does has nothing to do with Christ’s teachings, and it is hard to reconcile with that. I’ve probably said too much but, there, I’ve said it. Keep them on their toes, William.
William says
Alexis, rex is just a local version of trump. They both go in with big egos and plans but even when their plans don’t produce the desired results, their voting base just keeps kissing their behinds.
Now, Palmdale has a mayor that will do the same with rex. I don’t know what Palmdale voters were thinking when they voted for him.
Palmdale, under Mayor Ledford, has done very well over the years through several severe recessions, loss of redevelopment money, having to cut staff and go to a 4-day workweek. Its finances are in good order, crime rate has dropped, etc. Most measures exceed Lancaster’s despite its big fish in a small pond lawyer as mayor.
Hofbauer campaigned on tearing down the Cactus Curtain but I don’t trust any dealings with rex or Lancaster. No way. And, I don’t trust Hofbauer to put Palmdale’s interests first ahead of rex’s and Lancaster itself. The AV Hospital fought Palmdale Medical Center and the college used bond money voted on to build a Palmdale satellite campus for its own auditorium. So, there’s that too.
Better to keep the Cactus Curtain and an eye on Hofbauer, Loa, Bishop and Carrillo. That’s all we can do for now lest they slip something past the voters.
Lord of Doom says

Our own Rep. Katie Hill will be on MSNBC tonight discussing the SOTU speech. Unlike with Steve Knight, Katie hit the ground running and will be a national presence.

Patriots take Ram trophy home.
R.C. Lancaster says
Get a kick out of this, South bound 14 Fwy. between H and I the electronic billboard has Rex proclaiming he’ s the lawyer of the year!
QH Leftover says
I wonder how much he paid to get that? He pays for full time self promotion.
Vic says
What did he win that for? Was it for destroying the lives of Raymond Lee Jennings, Randy Floyd, Johnathan Ervin, Esmeralda Jorge, and James Ledford? Maybe it was for lying about Chinese birth tourism. Or it could be for his multiple lawsuits against cities and school districts over voting districts even though he refuses them in Lancaster. No, it’s probably for his brilliant ideas like bird sounds to lower crime or spending $10 million tax payer dollars on a failed LEAPS plane.
He certainly is Man of the Year.
William says
Hofbauer answered questions at the Democratic Club of the High Desert and said that sales tax revenue sharing won’t happen between Palmdale and Lancaster in answering a question. We’ll see.
A friend was there and said that Hofbauer went on and on and didn’t seem to have a comprehensive take on anything. My friend said he was hard to follow as he seemed scattered. Wish I had been there to see for myself.
Hofbauer said the airport will re-open to serve the aerospace employees and that the ternminal will be moved closer to the runway.???? Really.
Bottom line. We have to keep a close eye on him and the others who are in service to rex.
Tim Scott says
Every conversation I’ve had with him the only thing that seemed to hold his attentiona nd keep him from wandering has been when he can steer onto bashing Ledford. I’m guessing that now he has no particular focus so comes across as completely scatterbrained.
Kathryn says
Mayor Hofbauer is already doing great things for Palmdale! A lot of people are happy with him. What are you doing for the community? Why don’t you move since your so unhappy with everything that’s happening here. All you do is complain about everything.
East Palmdale says
What great things? Doing whatever Rex tells him to do is hardly great. Time will tell if he accomplishes or does any great things. He would be wise to put Palmdale above what Rex and the good old boys want, but don’t hold your breath.
A.V. Res says
If you are unaware of the positive things going on in Palmdale by our Mayor, then find out for yourself instead of asking an anonymous person. By the way, he does not do what Rex tells him to do. He does what is best for Palmdale, and the people that voted for him know this. The little group that comments on here that does nothing but bash the Palmdale politicians, and continually bash the Lancaster politicians, are too miserable to see any good, ever.
William says
Alright, AV res.
Like Kathryn above, starting listing what great things Hofbauer has done?
William says
AV res
If you claim that Hofbauer has done many positive things it’s up to you to provide evidence. We don’t take you word for it as you can see.
Telling others to look it up is a copout.
A.V. Res says
And they’re off! preliminary stretch is in play and we are actively working the VV to Palmdale link. Virgin Trains. Thank you Mayor Hofbauer!
Tim Scott says
YOU may be working the Victorville to Palmdale link, but Hofbauer will be supporting the Victorville to Lancaster link through the properties that Wrecks and his friends have been buying up along East Avenue D. “Good neighbors and regional co-operation, etc etc etc.”
A.V. Res says
These commenters don’t even know what’s going on in their own city of Palmdale. Obviously you can’t keep up with current events, or the facts. VV to Palmdale link. Keep up. Your comment is way off, and has no truth to it.
Tim Scott says
Yeah, no worries. Not long ago I was considering that I might have retired too early and thinking of starting a business…in Palmdale. But between Donald Trump and Steve Hofbauer I’ve been convinced to move all my investments overseas. Eventually I’ll be following the money.
As to what I’m doing for the community…I’ve done a good bit of volunteer stuff, but I think the best thing I’ve ever done for Palmdale was to actively campaign against Steve Hofbauer. It didn’t work, because Wrecks and his gang just have too much power, but they say futility adds to nobility.
Palmdale 1945 says
You sure have a lot of great things to say about yourself. Actively campaigning against someone with opinions in the comments section with zero facts, isn’t actively campaigning. Rex Parris only has as much power as the people give him, Tim. Just because you elevate yourself with self serving words doesn’t make up who you really are. It’s easy to tell people you are a good man with righteous intentions. Screen names that let people make up whoever they want to be, while destroying someone else. “Convinced to move all my investments overseas?” Some naïve people will actually believe every word you say. Image is pretense, Tim.
Oh please says
“Futility adds to nobility?” No.
Tim Scott says
And, what makes you think that was all I did, 1945? Or are you just “campaigning against someone in the comments section with zero facts”?
If it is so easy, how come you and your made up screen names can’t seem to “destroy” me?
Alexis says
You see, 1945, the smart voters saw through the people campaigning against Mayor Hofbauer, as not coming from a place of truth and transparency. Opinions are not facts, but sometimes it’s hard to separate the two if a person isn’t diligent. Some truth mixed in with outright lies can be deceiving. I hope the voters that elected Mayor Hofbauer will be pleased with what he does for Palmdale. As for me, I will respect our process of election in the A.V. I have many old friends that go to the meetings and are deeply involved in Palmdale and I know most people that comment here are wrong, but don’t think they are wrong.
Alexis says
Because you’re anonymous. Campaigning against someone in the comments section with zero facts is much different than campaigning against someone that isn’t anonymous, and is vulnerable to people that use zero facts to destroy them as a human being. If a person is going to campaign against a public figure then it is vital that facts, and only facts are there for all to see. Using the comments section is nothing but seed planting. There will always be those people that believe the person that plants the seed. Too much seed planting going on in America, and it is going to destroy us from the top on down, as we see the fruit of discourse.
Resident says
What has Hofbauer done? Now what has he claimed to do. What has he done? He claimed to be a firefighter. That is not the same as working for the fire department. Is he claiming that he is bringing Rail from Vegas to Palmdale? That has been happening for a long time. Is he turning into the new Rex?
William says
Alright Kathryn, what great things has Hofbauer done?
Here. Start your list.
1.
2.
3.
4.
and so on.
QH Leftover says
I do know of one thing that Hofbauer has done well and that is to smear Mayor Ledford. He is good at gossip too as he likes to drop names.
John Thomas says
Hofbauer is pretty good at taking credit for other people’s work too. The latest is the Vegas train and the Airport. We heard about those projects before the election and it wasn’t Hofbauer doing it.
Kathryn says
The “Democratic Club of the High Desert,” meeting went very well, and the fact that Mayor Hofbauer was there representing everything you believe should make you happy. Getting Trump out and also Steve Knight (already out). Are you a part of the “AVDCHD?” A very productive meeting. Everyone had a comprehensive take on everything. As for fact gathering for any politician, it is up to each voter that cares about the truth to do their own fact gathering, and never rely on comments in an opinions section. This is an opinions section, not a place for facts.
R. P. McMurphy says
This is why you don’t believe peoples comments, and don’t respond to their buffoonery.
QH Holdover says
Getting Steve Knight out of office worked very well for the Democrats. Hofbauer backing Carrillo another Democrat all but catapulted Hill into Knights seat in Congress. Republican leadership supporting Democrat candidates in a local race totally backfired. Now thats buffoonery only found in the AV.
John Thomas says
Hofbauer playing to the Democrats worked very well in the Palmdale City election getting Carrillo elected over Republican Aleman. Trouble is it helped the Democrates take out Congressman Steve Knight. The Republican leadership was supporting Carrillo and it cost them big time. That is buffoonery at it’s finist and can only be found in the AV.
East Palmdale says
You are right Kathryn. I did my homework. Hofbauer was in cahoots with Lancaster political hack Drew Mercy. Mercy ran his campaign. Mercy is a tool of R. Rex Parris. Now Hofbauer is a tool of R. Rex Parris and Marvin Crist. For those reasons alone I did not vote for him. I voted for him for years and years but once you become a puppet of those people you lose my vote.
Kathryn says
I saw through the convoluted mess that’s been going on for years with these comments. I also did my homework and chose to vote for Mayor Hofbauer. There are plenty of us that will support him in this fine city of Palmdale.
Tim Scott says
Support who you want, but Sellout Steve doesn’t really need you. You can bet he will do what he has to to keep support from Wrecks and Co though, because that’s what got him elected.
William says
Kathryn, It’s up to you to provide evidence that Hofbauer has done positive things for Palmdale. You said you did your research. Well, show your work.
I can’t believe you wrote that this is a place for a opinions, not facts and went on to prove it. Your comments are truly fact-free.
Kathryn says
Your comment is a complete lie. The voters spoke, and elected Mayor Hofbauer. Rex Parris had nothing to do with his election. Keep up the hate all you want, it isn’t going to change a thing, and yes there are plenty of us that will continue to support him. What you think doesn’t matter, so deal with it or move.
Kathryn says
Yes he does need us, and we need him. The voters have spoken, so you and some of the others that continually complain will just have keep complaining. You don’t know how to do anything else.
William says
Where’s the beef, Kathryn? Y’know, the postivie things Hofbauer has done.
You said you did your research. Show your work. Otherwise, your claim is VOID!
QH Holdover says
No complaint from me as I want what is best for both cities. I just don’t appreciate being played like were not paying attention to what is going on in the Valley. Most people paying attention know the lay of the land so were looking for the latest progress milestone not some newbie Mayor trying to take credit. Play it straight please!
Tim Scott says
LOL…”Rex Parris had nothing to do with this election.”
Well, other than orchestrating the smear campaign that took down Sellout Steve’s opponent, Wrecks didn’t have much to do with it.
Oh, and having his attack dog Drew run Sellout Steve’s campaign.
Oh, and the big checks the Lancaster elite funneled into Sellout Steve’s campaign, as well as his business.
Yeah, NOTHING to do with it.
Got any funny stories that don’t take such a tragic turn Kathryn?
Pete says
Of course Tim and William say so,it must be true.no proof needed.
You kathryn, have to show all the proof, and they still won’t believe it.
Lib logic 101
William says
Kathryn cannot provide anything positive that Hofbauer has done for Palmdale.
Voter says
Kathryn, how can you write with a straight face that Rex had nothing to do with the election. He certainly did. His political hack DUI Drew handled the Hofbauer campaign which was a smear of Ledford who under accusation. He has not been convicted yet, only accused. Then to split the vote, Rex backed V. Jesse Smith. It worked to perfection. Hofbauer got 46% of the vote. It was not a majority but it was enough to win. That is all Rex wanted. He now controls Palmdale.
District 2 says
You’re a smart voter Kathryn, don’t let these buffoons bully you. They don’t care about facts, and they never give any. LWVAV.
Jim says
Thank you Steve Hofbauer for being directly responsible for #136 fire station. The other one too. By the way, your comments provide zero facts, but that’s O.K. because I don’t get my facts from the opinions section.

Kathryn was the one who had written that this is a place for opinions, not facts. Why don’t you two get together and agree on your alternative realities since you have opposing views on them now.
District 2 says
I noticed Williams’ comment about Mayor Hofbauer not agreeing to revenue sharing. He never agreed to it, Tim, but you have been trying to convince the people that can’t think for themselves that he was. You floated that lie for ages. Thank you William for clearing up that issue that smart voters already knew. Or should I say your friend that told you, and you shared on the comments section.
QH Holdover says
Marvin Christ is the real bully fund raiser in Lancaster that directed the money toward the last Palmdale Election. Republican money supported Democrates like Corrillo and that helped take Steve Knight out of office. Thanks for the meddling in Palmdale Marvin.
Senior citizen says
Yes, thank you, William for pointing out the lie that dominated this comment section for so long. Mayor Hofbauer never agreed to revenue sharing. Even if a friend told you and you straightened things out. We can thank Mayor Hofbauer for being directly involved with both fire stations, and bringing mall security to our mall, so we are safe.
Tim Scott says
Wrecks has never had the votes in his pocket to get his way on revenue sharing since it takes four out of five council members. Now they have the votes and are pushing through all of Wrecks other pet projects. Sometime in the next two years revenue sharing will come up and the members who are in Wrecks’ pocket will face a tough choice.
Voting for revenue sharing will likely cost them their seat, but Wrecks will be saying “I put you in office and if you don’t play ball I’ll put someone else in your place.” That’s how he runs the Lancaster Council.
Problem is that once four out of five Wrecks puppets get us into revenue sharing it takes four out of five to get us out. That’s why I pushed for a measure to prevent the council from ever getting into such an agreement, because Wrecks only has to win once. Of course Hofbauer led the opposition to that measure. Wonder why.
Senior citizen says
No, Hofbauer has never agreed to revenue sharing, not ever. This is why I don’t believe comments that aren’t based on facts. Smart voters understand this very simple but important understanding. If he never agreed to revenue sharing in the first place, there is no need to oppose a measure that he already knows won’t work for Palmdale’s good citizens.
William says
@Senior Citizen, District 2 et al. Would the tax sharing agreement be okay with you folks?
I wrote about what Hofbauer said at the meeting to put it on the record, so to speak.
Now, we’ll have to see if he keeps his word, won’t we?
If he and the rest of rex’s minions on the council suddenly change their minds, then what?
I suspect that all the replies to my comment about Hofbauer are written on the same device by the same hand if not Hofbauer himself.
Hofbauer et all voted for the power agreement with Lancaster at his first council meeting. The staff report said that the agreement with the county would have been better for Palmdale. Hofbauer ignored it. Reminds you of trump ignoring all the expert advice at his disposal, doesn’t it?
We have to keep a close yye on Hofbauer, Bishop, Carrillo and Loa before they do something like that.
So far, the replies defending Hofbauer are a pre-emptive effort to keep the tax sharing issue out of sight till it’s already voted on. I’ll be those aren’t Palmdale citizens posting those comments.
Like I’ve said “We’ll see.”
Go Green says
The power sharing agreement with Lancaster is bad. The county has a much better program with bigger buying power. All will definitely being opting out if Palmdale goes with Lancaster’s sorry excuse for a power program. They say it is green, but if you do a little homework you will find out that really is not the case.
Senior citizen says
Your daily hissy fits aren’t going to change a thing. Go right ahead gentlemen. Bitterness and loathing is bad for your health.
Tim Scott says
Senior Citizen, you are mixing two different things.
Yes, Wrecks proposed a revenue sharing agreement, and Hofbauer voted to reject it. He makes a lot of noise about having voted against it. All good. I wondered at the time whether the only reason it was proposed at all was so Hofbauer would be able to talk about how he opposed it. It was totally absurd and Wrecks certainly knew there was no way it could pass.
There was also a proposal to make it impossible for the council to enter into revenue sharing agreements without public approval. Hofbauer opposed that. Apparently he saw some point in the future where there would be a deal to be made with Lancaster…a point where either Lancaster would offer a deal that is favorable to Palmdale (fat chance) or the Lancaster power brokers would control four votes and can get the deal they want. I saw that second point coming too…and frankly I think it has probably arrived.
Hofbauer, Bishop, and Loa, when they are approaching their 2020 campaigns, are going to be told “either play ball and we fund you, or don’t and we fund a challenger.” They know that only Lancaster’s funding can get them re-elected, so they will play ball. Carrillo won’t be facing an election, but he owes them for the last one, and that’s four votes.
So, bottom line, don’t you wonder why Mister “I opposed the revenue sharing” has refused to get it taken off the table? The likely answer is that if the possibility of the council entering a revenue sharing deal were removed Wrecks and company might lose interest in meddling in Palmdale elections…and Hofbauer can’t have that since their meddling is what got him elected and is likely the only thing that can get him re-elected. When Wrecks puts the hammer down there will be a revenue sharing agreement, and it will gut Palmdale.
William says
Let’s keep on keeping on with the sales tax sharing agreement in case Hofbauer tries to sneak it in late at night with the lights off. Don’t trust him or the others on the council owned by rex.
In other words, let’s keep the subject alive with occasional comments to let his defenders know we are paying attention. They and he want to shut down the discussion. Right? Right.
Old Vet says
I read the comments by “Senior citizen,” and not one comment says to shut down the discussion. The one comment says “Go right ahead gentlemen.) As a person that lives in Palmdale and doesn’t know Mayor Hofbauer, I can say by gathering facts, he has been instrumental in the building of the two fire stations, and also responsible for mall security to keep the shoppers safe. I also don’t believe he or the others you mention are owned by Parris. Why? Because you and others have no facts to back up your accusations. I also know Mayor Hofbauer has or never was interested in revenue sharing. Smart voters separate facts from lies generated by a few. I agree with “Senior citizen,” that bitterness and loathing is bad for your health, but it’s your life.
Old Vet says
What discussion? These comments are nothing but a hatchet job on the elected Mayor of Palmdale. He is our mayor whether we like it or not, and should be supported by the citizens of this community. It’s always the ones that have the most negative comments, that do absolutely nothing positive for Palmdale. Complain, whine, and sow discord in our community is ALL you know how to do.
Jim says
Ledford submitted a revenue sharing plan which he submitted to the voters of both cities but it hit a snag and Lancaster refused at that time. They tried again realizing the futility of the game. Palmdale-Lancaster proposed splitting future sales tax and ending rivalry, with yet another snag. Palmdale-Lancaster sales tax plan deserves another look for the good of both cities.
William says
Hey, Senior Citizen
“…bitterness and loathing…” you say. That describes hofbauer’s ugly campaign against Mayor Ledford.
Didn’t you buy into that and vote for him? If you didn’t, perhaps you are not a Palmdale voter.
Neither you nor Kathryn or any others have provided any accomplishments of Hofbauer other than what he wants to take credit for that he didn’t do.
Sharing Isn't Always Caring says
Sales tax sharing between Lancaster and Palmdale is plain stupid. It’s like going to your next door neighbor and asking to share paychecks. Ever wonder why no cities do it?
A lot of dumb ideas have come from Lancaster, but this isn’t as dumb as it is painfully obvious that they are hurting for money. It shouldn’t be up to Palmdale to pay for their bloated and failed programs like LEAPS, Traction Seal, Ecolution and heaven knows what other idiotic things are going on. Don’t forget all the lawsuits Lancaster has had to pay out over the years on account of the mayor’s big mouth.
Jim says
Sales tax sharing didn’t come from Lancaster, it came from Palmdale. Read my comment.
Tim Scott says
Jim, there’s a big difference between READING your comment and finding it CREDIBLE.
Meanwhile, revenue sharing definitely has a place, but that place is NOTHING like the idiocy that Lancaster is peddling. It is intended (and used in many other places) to be applied on a case basis. For example…
Back in the day when Costco wanted to open a store (one store) in the Antelope Valley they wanted it between the two cities and didn’t care which side of the line it was on. Palmdale was getting recognizably better retail traffic and had a better reputation, so Lancaster opted for ‘drop our pants’ negotiation and pretty much all the benefits the city could have gotten from ‘winning’ the Costco ended up going to Costco instead.
That was a situation that was tailor made for a revenue sharing deal, ie ‘whichever city it ends up in revenues from the Costco will be split between the two cities like this.’ Neither city drops their pants, Costco pays for their own store, both cities benefit.
By the way, as proof that a bad deal for anyone is eventually a bad deal for everyone, Lancaster reneged on the infrastructure improvements they promised to Costco as part of the deal, and despite the short term advantages I’d bet that looking at the long term Costco is sorry they got involved with the Lancaster scam squad.
Robert says
Tim, Ledford did submit a revenue sharing plan, not Lancaster. Your long winded comment doesn’t change that. Jim is correct.
Booster says
Jim, revenue tax sharing came from Lancaster. The idea was shared at the Lancaster Sheriff’s Booster fundraiser last year by Marvin Crist. Aside from it being a blatant violation of the Brown Act to discuss city business without having a public notice with his own council, he was rallying support of council from Palmdale.
There is a big difference between READING your comment and finding it CREDIBLE.
Robert says
Suspicious, that someone named “Booster” can’t produce any evidence that this occurred. On the other hand, revenue sharing brought by Ledford over twenty years ago is there for all to see in print. It hasn’t been revisited since, and should be. It was brought to the table twice, and couldn’t be worked out due to Lancaster not agreeing. Jim is presenting facts while you are presenting nothing.
William says
@JIm
So what? Going forward, sales tax revenue sharing isn’t good for Palmdale as the City will be the major sales tax revenue generator into the future: better location, a transportation hub and no rex & co……….well, until Hofbauer et al were installed.
Palmdale, during Mayor Ledford’s 26 years, developed into the major city in the Antelope Valley with abundant retail on both the west and east side, a new hospital and……………me. I live here.
Except for sales tax for car dealerships, Palmdale leads Lancaster in most measurements from lower crime to higher property values/median incomes, etc.
Lancaster is essentially a bedroom community in the Antelope Valley. While its car dealerships provide more sales tax revenue, there is really no there there in Lancaster.
Thrift shops, half empty old shopping centers, a failed blvd experiment, auto body shops/wreckers and that’s about it. The retail in mainly shopping centers and Walmarts. Pretty shabby for a city of 160,000+ and you can thank rex & co. for the direction the city took….downhill and to the right.
BTW Jim. Why does Lancaster want tax sharing enough to interfere in Palmdale’s business? Oh, you mean rex doesn’t want it and Palmdale’s pushing the idea?
Robert says
“Booster” decides to bring his/her grievance for one of his/her own to the comments section with zero facts. Shame on you for perpetrating a lie.
Booster says
Robert, why don’t you ask them if it was discussed at the fundraiser? There were many within earshot. It’s not like Lancaster hasn’t brought it up before.
Remember this wonderful day? When Parris wanted to tear down the Cactus Curtain with a list of demands, one of them being what he called the “reckless disregard of the economic realities” regarding sales taxes. What is “reckless” about two neighboring cities keeping their own sales tax? Lots of cities do it. ALL of them do as a matter of fact.
https://theavtimes.com/2013/06/20/parris-to-ledford-lets-tear-down-the-cactus-curtain/
William says
@Kathryn
Well, where are the accomplishments of Hofbauer? If you are going to claim that he’s done positive things, list them.
You haven’t listed 1 thing. It’s up to the person making the claim to do the research and provide proof ol their claim.
You worte that you did your homework. Well, show your work.
Actually, I doubt you are evern a Palmdale resident and more likely a Lancaster fan of rex & co.
I’m going to keep asking you for Hofbauer’s accomplishments. Either put up or do the other thing.
And, if you don’t return with some items, that will say it all.
I can’t believe you wrote that this is a place for opinion, not facts. Incredible.
Alexis says
Soon, there will be no political party run by man.
Lawyers in Love says
They’re BAAAACCCCKKKKK! The dynamic duo suing team of Shenkman and Parris are at it again, suing cities, school districts, and anyone else they can for E-Z money over voting districts. The latest victim is the city of Camarillo. So far, these lawsuits have raked in a cool $16,413,000 for lawyers. Of course, Parris’ city of Lancaster still has NO VOTING DISTRICTS despite having all of its council living on the west side, all Republicans and NO LATINOS or LATINAS.
Inquiring minds should look up case number 56-2018-00522031-CU-CR-VTA. Or contact the city of Camarillo. They can give you all kinds of good information.

Uncle Bob says
Who promptly ran for re election with the blessing of Rex who does not support districts for Lancaster. I would bet the black Councilwoman will never support Districts. It’s local control at its finest.
Hypocrite says
Both puppets of Rex. If Rex really cared about access for minorities as he seems to in all the cities and school districts he sues and makes a lot of money on, he would push for voting districts in Lancaster. The truth is he doesn’t want anyone who he can’t control. East Lancaster has never been represented and never will until we have voting districts.
Mayor R. Rex Parris is a hypocrite. He sues cities for voting districts but has no districts in his city. That is hypocritical.
Alexis says
Vote him out. 11.2% voter turnout is pitiful. I have never seen such continual complaining about a mayor (fourth term) that is so hated, yet barely anyone shows up to vote him out. Oh, I know, the elections are held in April (for decades), or it’s Baptist church’s fault, etc. No, it’s the lazy people that don’t show up to vote him out.
Alexis says
Hypocrite…I believe you are leaving out the part, that three voters in Palmdale were the one’s suing their own city (Voting Rights Act) to have voting districts. You don’t like at-large-voting?
Tim Scott says
Part of suing a city is that you have to find a willing resident plaintiff. I tried to find people in Lancaster who would allow such a suit to be filed on their behalf, but people in Lancaster recognize just how much power Wrecks and his cronies have. The possibility of being targeted by law enforcement was just too obvious.
Since I myself was threatened by “code enforcement with a fine tooth comb” being unleashed against my seventy year old mother I certainly couldn’t argue that they shouldn’t be concerned. So, no resident plaintiffs, no lawsuit.
William says
District voting allowed rex to cheaply insert his candidates into an election rather than at large voting which would have required more $$$s and effort. rex got what he set out to do.
Does anyone think that Hofbauer will do anthing for those voters who sued or for the districts created for that purpose to be better served?
You can be sure that directives from rex to hofbauer and the rex minions on the council will not benefit Palmdale’s minorities just like in Lancaster.
Jim says
Rex didn’t find a plaintiff, the plaintiff (V. Jesse Smith), and two others sued the city of Palmdale using the (VRA).
Kathy says
The voters elected the candidate they wanted. You have the right to hate the elected politicians in Palmdale. Try to have a positive day, by maybe doing something positive for your city instead of always attempting to tear it down.
Voter says
V. Jesse Smith was not the main plaintiff according to the articles in the paper and the court documents. It was a man named John Juaragui or Juan Juaragui. Rex was most definitely involved as was his puppet Marvin Crist. Let us not forget the $250 dollar an hour ‘expert witness’ Darren Parker. You know Darren. He is the one calling the African American candidate that Rex smeared the ‘N’ word.
It was a motley crew of people with ulterior motives who were involved in that fiasco. The result was a loss of an African American on the council and an additional white, Rex backed Republican added.
Voting rights indeed.
Jim says
More precise is that Juan Jauregui and three black activists. and the NAACP joined the case. The rest of your comment is a mixture of your own opinion.
Jim says
Now you’re smearing Darren Parker? A member of the Democratic Party, because he wanted to see an end to at-large voting. The NAACP joined in on the case also. Are they on the take according to you?

Happy New Year people of the Antelope Valley!!! Loastradamus here with a few predictions for 2019!!!
…Despite spending $10 million bucks on the Eye in the Sky, crime will be lower in Palmdale than Lancaster….again!!! This won’t stop Rex and the Boys from an all out sales pitch to have Hofbauer buy one for his city.
…Chinese spies will be caught attempting to steal data from local aerospace contractors.
…Marv Crist will turn a deeper shade of red as the year progresses.
…Rex will still not say how Lancaster will dispose of the tons of toxic solar panels from its solar farms.
…a prominent Lancaster Republican will come out of the closet.
Random Stranger says
You were on a roll up to toxic solar panels, It will take 30 years for the output to degrade to 70% power and then they are retired to hobby use. You don’t see solar panel grave yards because even half power is useful to someone.
Son of the Anti Rex says
In less than 30 years these solar farms will be repositories of worthless, outdated technology that will create an environmental nightmare. Rooftop solar is the way to go. Destroying the desert and leaving our children and grandchildren with a mess is not the way to go. But what do you expect from a man who lives in Laguna and uses the Antelope Valley just to line his pockets?
Random Stranger says
In less than 30 years those solar panels will still be under warranty. Rooftop or post mounted panels are still the same panels. Bashing panels only waters down your Rex argument. Stick with what you know.
Son of the Anti Rex says
Rooftop solar does not require the destruction of thousands upon thousands of acres of our desert, nor does it disturb soil which contains Vallet Fever spores. Additionally all solar panels have a shelf life and will need to be safely disposed of. What is the plan for disposing the panels in the AV?
PastyWhiteBob says
Whose roof do you want to put solar panels on so we can save the wide open desert space? You’re not putting them on my roof.
Random Stranger says
Put them on all parking lots. Shady parking forever, easy to replace with cheaper, higher power panels when they degrade in 30 years. Old reduced power panels will always be in demand with those that can’t afford new ones. There is no legitimate concern for disposal of old panels, nobody has ever seen a solar panel in a dumpster. Maybe in 60 years they can grind up the panels and use them to back fill a refinery.

correct.. I have some that only put out half of what they use to but they are still useful

Anyone with half a brain can see that the Communist Chinese do NOT have our best interests in mind.
Yet we have Rex inviting them in to set up shop and live near the most sensitive defense operations in the country. Maybe he will get a nice big bronze statue for it.

William says
Whenever someone like a rex or a trump think they’re the smartest ones in the room, they aren’t.

Outstanding point, William. The similarities between rex and trump are eerily similar. Both are megalomaniacs who think they are geniuses but are not. Both have money which has gotten them a lot of power and bought them a lot of people. Both are tools of the Chinese.

No there isn’t a big difference. The big difference is that you, and several others see blue, making you extremely biased. Of course there are the lunatic fringe on both sides. Carry on with your deluded thinking, you know, the Palmdale takeover by all the elected officials. I would prove to you that Democrats and Republicans both do business with China, and always have, you never listen because your mind is a filled with lies which you think is the truth.
William says

Yeah and you everything. If trump told you to eat the yellow snow you would.
A longer list says
William, I’m a Democrat. I voted for Clinton and Obama, and I know Clinton especially had a lot of dealings with both China and Russia. I didn’t know you liked Frank Zappa’s “Don’t eat yellow snow.” Definitely a longer than 10 ft. fall.

But………..did you vote for trump? Sounds like it. That’s how they talk.
Trumpsters compare wildly dissimilar things and draw invalid conclusions.
Then, they draw superfine lines between nearly identical things and run with the version they like.
They do that over and over and you sound just like that. Remember how they said “Benghazi” to everything when there was no there there? Bill and Monica wasn’t in the same ballpark as Watergate, Iran/Contra and now Russian collusion but for trumpsters and many conservatives/republicans, they are all the same.
Your comments are no different.
Have a positive day says
Dear William…I didn’t vote for Trump, but I also know the Clintons did a lot of business with China and Russia. It really doesn’t matter what you think, the truth overrides what a person thinks. “A longer list,” gave you facts, and you choose to ignore them, which is your prerogative. You like to argue, and really, it is futile, because your opinion doesn’t change anything, and neither does mine. Here’s to a productive day minus negativity.

trump dropped out of the Trans Pacific Partnership giving China a big edge in the region. Presidents Clinton and Obama would not have done that.
trump started a tariff war with China which hurts Americans. The other 2 presidents wouldn’t have done that and didn’t. The Chinese are smarter than trump and parris combined and China will likely fare better in the long run because they don’t have a stupid leader.
What did Clinton and Obama do that compares to what trump has done so far?
A generalized “They also had dealings” just won’t suffice.
Alexis says
Apparently you don’t realize how much you own that comes from China. If you feel that strongly about the Chinese, then don’t go to Chinese restaurants, buy cars, or clothing, plus a myriad of other things that involve China. Do your part instead of just blaming Rex, and the boys, who are elected by the people. That goes for Hofbauer, and all the rest of the elected politicians that you are unhappy with, year after year, after endless year.
No Chinese Garbage says
It isn’t easy, but I avoid purchasing anything made in China. The quality of the Chinese made products I’ve used in the past has been poor. Especially with tools. I’ll gladly pay more $ for a quality made product than to waste it on a Communist country with a horrible track record on human rights and espionage.
trumpist#1 says
Well said.
Ralph Cramden says
The BYD bus issues are more examples of shoddy Chinese engineering and quality. BYD is being sued by Albuquerque for delivering poor product. Our own AVTA would be wise to not put all our tax payer eggs in the one BYD basket and instead diversity. But that would require honest leadership that isn’t bought at paid by Stella Li and the rest of the BYD folks. In other words, not likely.
Alexis says
Well, China is a dominant land owner in America. The Chinese are not our friends, but we do business with them. The Chinese are buying up farms, etc., so you can complain about BYD all you want because you despise Rex Parris and company. They sell their products all over the world, including fork lifts. Just like cars being recalled, there is an issue with Albuquerque. They are still manufacturing for many other countries.
AV Illegal says
I guess she is kinda making the point here William. China has gained a huge influence over America in trade, real estate, technology etc. Guess what? Almost all of those gains were well in place before your current President ever took office. I guess you can still blame him for selling out to China.
I remember back when people were complaining they could not buy American and the main supplier then was Japan.
I wish many would quit blaming Trump for every last aspect of the current worlds problems. The problems were well in place when he came around.

Yes his 44.4% of the vote is a real mandate. His automatic promotion of his hit man Loa to a Councilmember without any public participation shows a contempt of due process. Watch the Meeting and see for yourself, not a good start for a new Mayor touting ethics. It’s gotta be a bad joke.

Factually correct to appoint a committee chair Loa for your hit mailers to a City Council seat. Ethics are just a term being used without actually using the principles does not go unnoticed. Why fear the public participation? Unless your afraid of it. It’s coming from the Lancaster playbook of control politics. So sad
Doc Rivers says
Sub 45 percent is no mandate,
no conspiracy says
Please direct me to sites on the internet that Mr. Loa shared racist material. I will never condemn a man based on opinions. It is too easy to call someone a racist on a public forum without facts to back it up. Mayor Hofbauer is the Mayor of Palmdale, whether he won by 44.4% or 45%. Arguing over percentages won’t change the outcome. Anyone that condemns another human being by spreading non-factual information is NOT applying the principle of moral integrity.
no conspiracy says
Richard Alvarez Loa is NOT a racist! Unfortunately there will be those that will read your comments and the seed will be planted. Cowards use anonymity to spread lies.
William says
No Conspiracy, Loa isn’t the mayor of Palmdale. Get your facts straight. He will be once the Lancaster machine dumps Hofbauer next election.
Casey says
William, what are you talking about? No one said Loa was the mayor of Palmdale. Read the comments again.
William says
Casey, it was in reference to this comment: Please direct me to sites on the internet that Mr. Loa shared racist material, by no conspiracy. You can read those comments above.
Casey says
Read the rest of the comment, William. It says “Mayor Hofbauer is the mayor of Palmdale.” The point being made here is that Richard Loa is not a racist.
William says
Casey, understood. No conspiracy said Loa was not a racist after End Racism said both mayors of Lancaster and Palmdale made racist statements. I was merely clarifying that Loa was not mayor. Ergo, Loa was not called a racist.
Nor Buyinit says
Looks like you’re wrong. Again. Go back and actually watch the meeting instead of buying into the conspiracy theorist. There absolutely was public comment on that. There were at least 2 people that went up and spoke.
The Fix Is In says
The Sell Out of PALMDALE is on. Sellout Steve, Marvbeeoch Bishop, and Lying Juan will stiff their residents and reward RexandMarv with their power agreement. Get ready for higher electric rates PALMDALE. As a Lancaster Choice Energy customer, you have been warned.
Doc Rivers says
The voters will hold them responsible when power rates go up. So why only Lancaster’s program? Why not the County program? Remember who supports this.
Loastradamus says
Loastradamus sez…. tonight….D’Errico is recommended as Chief of Police in Lancaster…. Haufbauer, Carillo, and Bishop vote to make Palmdale join the Lancaster energy group despite its pitfalls…. and Richard Loa is appointed new Palmdale Councilman…
Union Made says
The Lancaster agenda is moving forward in Palmdale. We were warned and now our City is about to be comprimised without a shot fired. Palmdale councilmembers join the Lancaster cartel.,So sad and too bad!!
Doc Rivers says
Richard Loa sold out a while ago and by putting his name on the committee that slandered the outgoing Mayor. That gets him a seat he could not win by direct election. He is now the latest bitch for City of Lancaster.
Van Dammit says
The Fix is In! Lancaster now owns four Palmdale City Councilmen! Welcome Richard ‘Wrecks Boot Licker’ Loa. He couldn’t win an election so he sold his soul along with those other nitwits. Palmdale is screwed. Say goodbye to your tax dollars. Laura Bettencourt is the only one with a set of nads. Go Laura Go!
Alexis says
Doc Rivers…It the corrupt males that are the problem. Also, you don’t have to have “a set” to be effective in a positive way. Maybe the male leaders should re-evaluate what it means to run Palmdale and Lancaster with integrity. You know, serving the people in their community, instead of themselves.
Alexis says
Who is to blame, the politicians or the people that vote them into office?
Erin B. says
Until this Valley rids itself of the Pro-Rex politicians Crist, Hofbauer, Bishop, Mann, Mahli, Mercy, Carrillo, etc. then expect more of the same. Until a brave investigative reporter does an expose, the good old boy system will continue.
Alexis says
Well apparently the commenters on here blame the voters for not being smart like themselves, and continuing to elect corrupt politicians. The good old boy system must be what the voters want.
dont let your city control your edison bill! says
OPT OUT BEFORE YOU ARE AUTOMATICALLY ENROLLED
Elldib says
Sellout Steve fulfilled his promises to Lancaster by appointing Loa and securing the power agreement with Lancaster. The residents will pay dearly but Sellout Steve, Bishop, and Carillo will enjoy free drinks and food at the AV Fair in Marv’s private area.
Doc Rivers says
Palmdale now is under the control of double speak. Only Lauria Bettencourt has the right read on what’s happening. Even the convicted felon Joann G. see’s the hypocrisy and that means it’s pretty obvious. Lancaster is in compleate control of the Palmdale City Council. Ethics are for sure a joke now!!
William says
Did Hofbauer (and Carrillo) campaign on the power sharing agreement with Lancaster?
I didn’t read his dirty campaign postcards fully. Just tossed them.
But, if he didn’t campaign on that agreement and then immediately got the council to vote on it 4 to 1, yeah, he’s corrupt and he’ll be gone in 2 years and not back to his council seat.
No LCE For Me says
The agreement with Lancaster was hush hush. It was the first thing they did when they got elected. I will definitely be opting out. Unlike them, I took the time to read to documentation.
Seven says
There was another house fire or somthing by Quartz Hill HighSchool (dec 8th 9-10pm). Im guessing it was a water heater explosion as I did not see any black smoke, I only seen white puffy smoke seemingly coming only from the house garage with the firefighters near the water heater. Nobody seemed to be home… There were a lot of police and even a chopper, my guess is, the surrounding neighbors thought the explosion was some sort of bomb or weapon when informing 911 which alerted mass authorities.
Rider says
Uh oh…more trouble in paradise. BYD is being sued by Albuquerque for delivering poor performing and unsafe busses. One has to wonder what kind of BYD busses we have here in the AV. We know Marv said he didn’t care how much they cost, but does he about performance and safety? What about Rex, Hofbauer, Bishop and the rest of the board? They know about the busses breaking down. What else do they know?
Too bad we lack the leadership that they have in Albuquerque.
https://www.avpress.com/news/byd-faces-albuquerque-lawsuit/article_f9462a48-faae-11e8-a8d5-7b3e3a6887b6.html
RF says
Was that a BYD bus that crapped out in the 14 car pool lane on Thursday evening & bought the freeway to a standstill about 6pm?
Vic says
Those BYD busses have been crapping out all over the AV. It probably wasn’t the one on the 14 because they know the batteries aren’t reliable enough to make it down and back. The safety issues are concerning. Why is there no local investigation?
Anon says
I wouldn’t ride a BYD bus. Not until they’re safe.
Mars says
Missed the Lancaster Christmas Parade I blame AVNews Although I didn’t pay attention to local billboards.. But Why was the Parade in the news??? Its Community Event for everyone!! Especially great concert!!! Does Anyone Agree The news is lacking in Community Events for Everyone in The AV!?!?!?
S says
Can someone please answer:
If Palmdale is doing so great financially, and is “better off on their own”, then why can’t they fund the retirement plans for city employees? Why is Lancaster’s retirement plan so much better off?
Why does ONE single car dealership in Lancaster do more business than the entire Palmdale Auto Mall combined??
You all have this false illusion that because Palmdale has the mall and all of that retail around it, things must be going well. That’s a false assumption
Elldib says
Kudos to Palmdale for not using tax payer dollars to fund retirement plan. Public employees have an outstanding retirement system. They should be contributing to that just like people who have retirement plans in the private sector.
Lancaster knows that Palmdale is where things are happening which is why they have intervened in their political affairs. Lancaster can’t beat Palmdale so they need to drag Palmdale down to Lancaster’s level. Sadly it’s working.
J says
William doesn’t want to share. Where do you get your facts about revenue sharing? Please provide a link.
William says
@S
Lancaster is essentially a bedroom community of Palmdale now. Even rex said a majority (I believe he said 70% at one time) of the shoppers at the Mall are from Lancaster.
There’s no there there in Lancaster not even the blvd.
So ‘S’, then why does Lancaster want to share sales tax dollars with Palmdale if they are doing so much better with their auto mall and such?
Why does Lancaster want control of Palmdale’s city council and mayor if it’s doing so well? How parasitic of Lancaster.
Meanwhile, if you are a Lancaster resident, enjoy your blvd, all your half-empty shopping centers, auto wreckers, tattoo parlors and thrift stores.
Alexis says
Oh, the horror of it all! Since most of you say you don’t spend your money in Lancaster (boycotting), now what are you going to do? Since most of the politicians in Palmdale are corrupted, and you’re not happy in Palmdale; are you now going to take your money elsewhere, like Tim Scott? He doesn’t call Palmdale his city any more (disinvested). What to do, what to do. He says he is moving, apparently found a utopian community where everything is lollipops and rainbows.
Casey says
@William….Someone has borrowed your username to write silly, and inconsequential comments. Or maybe it’s you posting the same silly comments.
William says
Thank you Casey for your silly comment to illustrate how they look for all to see.
Alexis says
Thank you, William. I have no control over what other people say and do. It’s a common practice to use other commenters usernames. You know this already because you’ve borrowed other peoples usernames in the past to write silly comments. All of our comments are silly, and do nothing to make things better in the A.V.. It’s all vanity.
who's the silly one says
Silly comments that TS made.
Van Dammit says
No one says more silly things than Wrecks. Silly things like bird sounds lower crime, Traction Seal will fix our roads and be sold throughout the southwest, the Eye in the Sky will make Lancaster safe, the BLVD isbetter than Disneyland, a power plant will kill minority children, yada, yada, yada. Silly and disturbing.
Tim Scott says
Ummmm…what does “one car dealership does good business” have to do with anything, other than brands of automobiles involved? And for the record, the fleecing that at least one of those car dealers put over on the city of Lancaster is perhaps the single greatest display of legal swindling I’ve ever seen in a very long lifetime, much of it spent in the car business.
The dealer hit them with a massive high ball offer on seven different issues, like “you have to buy my existing dealership lot for this massively inflated figure,” “you have to sell me the prime commercial property in your auto mall for this bizarrely low price,” etc etc. The intention was that all these crazy numbers were starting points for negotiation, and the rankly amateur ‘negotiators’ for the city basically said “okay, we’ll give you all of that if you give us a good deal on a car for the city manager.” My boss came back to the lot pretty much staggering like a drunk he was laughing so hard about the amount of money they had just given him, for nothing.
That’s what comes of hiring city managers and senior staff whose only qualification is “will faithfully help out the good ol’ boys in their schemes to bilk the city.”
Erin B. says
You have described Lancaster to a T. If there is a hungry, thoughtful, and curious investigative reporter out there, he/she has a blockbuster story just waiting to be written. It will make Bell look like a candy store robbery. Decades and decades of insider dealers, no bid contracts, payoffs, illegal purchases, and so on.
Scarlet says
Let us also not forget that car dealership in both Palmdale and Lancaster with very, very shady business practices.
Scarlet says
Exactly, S! These commenters never back up their words with facts. These same commenters always demand facts when it doesn’t line up with their constant accusations.
Reality Check says
S, who says Palmdale can’t fund retirement plans for their employees? They do fund retirement plans for their employees. It’s called CALPERS. Employees contribute part and Palmdale pays part, just like Social Security works. Unlike Lancaster, there are no insider deals such as LEAPS and Kensington where political contributors get no bid contracts. Nor are there crazy schemes like Ecolution and Traction Seal which make money for the good old boys. We’ve all seen what a $10,000 contribution by a BYD executive to the Parris re election fund gets you, an all electric fleet of buses that a city like Albuquerque is suing over.
There’s a reason why Lancaster pols want to share sales tax with Palmdale and not vice-versa. Palmdale is doing fine on its own and doesn’t need Lancaster’s backdoor and sleazy ways for it to run. Or should I say Palmdale WAS doing fine. Now it has a Lancaster council running the show.
J says
Reality check needs facts, not more innuendo and unchecked paranoia.
Reality Check says
J needs to put down the Rexaid and smell the coffee. Or at least take the time to look into the documents surrounding LEAPS, Kensington, Ecolution, BYD contributions. It’s all there but Rexaid drinkers like J prefer to reap the benefits their daddy gives them by being compliant.
Alexis says
It’s time to repeal the Second Amendment.
trumpist#1 says
You’re kidding, right?
Constitution is very inconvenient to hysterical, ignorant “progressives” who think they know better than Washington, Jefferson, Adams and Adams, Hamilton, Mason, etc.
Why stop there? First Amendment must really be a pain in your a$$es!!!! Let’s get rid of the entire Constitution while we’re at it.
From my cold dead hands.
Tim Scott says
There’s a car chase going on…stolen car. The conclusion of the chase, when it comes, will be complicated by the fact the car has absolute blackout tint all the way around. That tint is a crime in itself, and one would think that since it is a clearly visible crime that can be spotted by any cop, anywhere, that such a car wouldn’t be available to be stolen.
No surprise…the owner is a cop.
Taxed to Death says
Uh oh! Trouble in Wreck’s BYD paradise. Looks like Albuquerque is telling them to pound sand. They refuse to accept unsafe and underperforming BYD busses. Why don’t we here in the Antelope Valley? Because a Marv says, ‘I don’t care what they cost’.
Don’t you feel comforted knowing that our leadership will push garbage product on us with no regard for our tax dollars? It’s time for an Antelope Valley Tea Party!
https://www.krqe.com/news/albuquerque-metro/art-project-delayed-again-after-city-rejects-byd-buses/1594969890
Van Dammit says
How many times do these BYD busses have to fail before our local leaders say enough is enough? Quit wasting our tax dollars on this failed experiment. First it was the Eye in the Sky and now this. Stop the insanity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Right says
I see those BYD buses broken down a lot. For the price of them, they’re not worth it.
Busfix says
The BYD bus saga continues to boil in Albuquerque. Unlike Lancaster, the people of Albuquerque have a mayor who is more concerned with public safety than taking care of his political contributors.
From the editorial: Let’s be clear. Whether Keller ever liked this project is irrelevant. What is relevant is he has an absolute duty not to knowingly put an unsafe product on the streets or to pay for buses that don’t work as advertised. So IF his team is correct in its assessment of BYD’s product, he’s done the right thing.
https://www.abqjournal.com/1250156
Imagine that. A mayor putting his people above his donors.
Van Dammit says
No matter how bad those BYD buses perform, it can’t stop the local yokel pols from singing their praises. Another puff piece story in the paper to help heal the wounds after the expose on the Albuquerque rejection of their garbage product.
It’s too bad we don’t have someone looking out for our safety and welfare like the mayor of Albuquerque. All we have are Wrecks puppets who accept poor performing product at the taxpayer’s expense.
Ralph Kramden says
And the BYD beat goes on….
“The first five buses BYD sent to Los Angeles Metro were pulled off the road after less than five months of service. Internal emails and other agency records show that agency staff called them “unsuitable,” poorly made and unreliable for more than 100 miles. Despite strong concerns from its own staff about the quality and reliability of the company’s vehicles, the transit agency awarded BYD tens of millions of dollars more in public contracts.”

PalmdaleSteve says
Now that Jimbo Ledbelly has lost his bid for reelection, what’s next ?
1) Plead guilty to the charges against him for conflict of interest? I do wonder if he hid this stream of income
from the Feds as well as the the state?
2) Long vacation up at the Federal resort in Lompoc?
3) Go to work for the TRex law firm?
4) Open a Jimbo’s fried chicken Bar and Grill in East Palmdale?
5) Uber driver?
Tim Scott says
Most likely charges dropped having served their purpose. There’s never been a case, just an opportunity to make a headline and bleed his funding and attention away from the campaign.
AV Observer says
The charges against Ledford were the latest on a series of accusations coming from R. Rex Parris. He made false accusations against Raymond Lee Jennings, Johnathan Ervin, Randy Floyd, and Esmeralda Jorge. Not one oh his accusations stuck, but Rex got what he wanted in each case. He got what he wanted here. Ledford is gone and Palmdale is nothing more than a cash colony for the corrupt Fern St. mob.
Alexis says
I hope you can find a reason to be grateful for what you do have. Placing doom and gloom on Palmdale, saying it is nothing more than a cash colony for the corrupt Fern St. mafia is cursing something that hasn’t happened. Take a look at the people in Paradise Ca. that have lost their homes and family members, and be grateful you have a roof.
Tim Scott says
I’m grateful that I disinvested from Palmdale. In a way I’m grateful for Palmdale voters electing Sellout Steve and flushing their city down the toilet because it might be the tipping point that gets my gf to retire sooner so we can leave.
Alexis says
I’m hoping that wherever you go, you won’t have to keep leaving because of corruption. I know you said you left Lancaster, and now you have disinvested from Palmdale (their city). Now that it is not your city anymore, I hope your gf and you will find a nice blue place where everything is harmonious, and you both can be grateful.
Van Dammit says
What does pointing out corruption in Lancaster and soon Palmdale have to do with the tragic fires in Paradise? Talk about not being able to stay on topic. Geeesh!!!!
move on says
It’s an old boring topic that’s been talked to death. She’s saying maybe y’all should think of how grateful you should be.
JPB says
I am very grateful that Rex has not yet burned down or completely taken over Palmdale. I am not grateful that he does rule over and continue his corrupt and crony ways in Lancaster.
There is nothing to be grateful about Rex and the Fern St. Mafia unless you are on the take with them. Everyone else gets nothing.
Common_Sense says
If Palmdale and Lancaster don’t start cooperating on a regional level very soon, then we’ll all be screwed.
At present, the San Fernando Valley division of the Southern California Association of Governments controls all the way up to Agua Dulce. Had Lancaster and Palmdale had their sh!t together early on, we could have had a regional entity and brought Santa Clarita, Agua Dulce, Acton and other nearby localities in with us, and had much more power. We had nothing to offer and, therefor, Santa Clarita joined up with the San Fernando Valley instead.
What was stopping us was “Palmdale First” and digging their heels in, or throwing tantrums about everything we tried to do.
Palmdale and Lancaster need to form their own regional governing association to be able to have a stake in what gets done in L.A. County. If we don’t, we are rendered powerless.
New leadership in Palmdale means a chance to cooperate as a region and get things for BOTH cities that will benefit BOTH cities.
The pettiness of the so-called “Cactus Curtain” is archaic and belongs in the past.
Tim Scott says
And there it is. “Common sense” with the opening salvo of “let’s work together, Palmdale supply the money, Lancaster will supply the pockets.” Get ready folks, the corruption is here.
New beginning says
Finally, an intelligent comment from “common sense.” Yes, the so-called “cactus curtain” stems from pride, with both sides unwilling to do the best for Palmdale and Lancaster.
Palmdalian says
Common Sense, are you serious? Was it Palmdale First that declared war on Section 8 and dragged the AV into a DOJ investigation? Was it Palmdale First who continually sued Palmdale at every turn? Was it Palmdale First who sued Palmdale, Santa Clarita, Highland, and other jurisdictions for voting districts? Was it Palmdale First who made accusations against AVTA management which were thrown out in court? Was it Palmdale First who regularly embarrassed the AV with idiotic ideas such as bird sounds lowering crime, bringing ‘the gays and Asians’ to the BLVD would lower crime and raise educational levels, and that an African American veteran was a ‘gang candidate’?
There is a regional economic board already established. Its name is the Greater Antelope Valley Economic Association. So long as it is controlled by the Fern St. Mafia, it will do nothing except serve the interests of the good old boys.
The AV is strongest with two vibrant cities bringing two forces to the table whether on the county or state level. With Parris and his cohorts involved, that will never happen because they only have their selfish interests in mind.
Palmdale, stay strong and do not let the Parris network rob you of what your founders created years ago.
Coalition for a Nepotism Free AV says
Say what, Common_Sense? Stopping us? Who’s us? Rex, Marv, Frank, Gilley, and the rest of the Lancaster lot? Us is not the regular people of Lancaster especially East Lancaster. Or the people of Palmdale, Littlerock, Lake Elizabeth, Quartz Hill, Rosamond, Sun Village, Antelope Acres, and Acton.
Us is the small elite group that have pillaged this Valley for decades. They need to go.
Then, and only then, will us truly be Us.
Cluelessalexis says
I am grateful that Wrecks is displacing 50 homeless people while he sips tea at his Beach House in Laguna.
Cora says
What a disturbing comment. Making light of a tragic situation affecting our fellow Californians. Hundreds missing, many dead, and people without homes, and you have to talk about Rex Parris burning down Palmdale. Disgusting, but not surprised.
Republican values says
Now the call for both cities to just get along and accept more cooperation so to justify Palmdale accepting less than we deserve while creating another layer of bigger government that speaks for all jurisdictions. We lose no thanks!
Eye on the AV says
Common sense is not sitting back and letting misguided and crony leadership run the AV under some false unity. Palmdale is far ahead of Lancaster and Wrecks knows this. That is why he has worked hard to systematically destroy Palmdale through endless lawsuits and interloping. Now that he successfully removed Ledford, he will dismantle the management of the city. After that is done, he will have Hofbauer removed and Palmdale will he absorbed into the mess that is Lancaster.
Mark it down. You heard it here first. Take it to the bank.
AV Observer says
Republican values are one thing. AVRA Republican values are another. With AVRA it is do the bidding of Wrecks, Frankie and the boys.
Palmdale is going to get hosed big time starting in December. Mark it down. Take it to the bank. Wrecks and his boys sure are.
William says
Hey, PalmdaleSteve (Hofbauer, no less?)
You seem oblivious to what will happen to Palmdale itself from hofbauer taking orders from rex.
Plmd. resident says
Deal with it, or don’t. Steve Hofbauer has been elected by Palmdale voters. You can complain every day for the rest of your life, and see where that gets you. All your bitterness will only affect you.
Tim Scott says
Well, if I was really interested in fighting for the future of Palmdale I’d get started on the 2020 mayor’s race. However, as I’ve said all along, Wrecks and his cronies are a constant grind and were going to win eventually, because they were never going to give up. They have Lancaster teetering on the edge of broke, and they need a new source of funds.
So, I’m happy enough to just wish the foolish voters of Palmdale good fortune. I’ll be well out of reach of Wrecks and Sellout Steve, and my property already is.
Do the Right Thing Steve says
If Hofbauer licks the boots of the Fern St. Mafia, Palmdale is toast. If he leads Palmdale as he should, he will end up being revered. Time will tell.
Laughing says
Well, at least they can’t make the mall traffic intersections any worse than they already are…. or can they….
Rick says
The only way Lancaster can create a traffic situation near its shopping is to remove car lanes and put in bike lanes. If Hofbauer remembers where he came from Palmdale will be in great shape and Lancaster will continue to crumble.
Jim Ross says
What was the outcome of Mayor RP’s wife trying to get on a plane with a gun in her luggage.
JPB says
She never finished her community service and got to keep her carry permit. That’s what money and a corrupt husband with corrupt connections will get you. That and a Beach House in Laguna.
Alexis says
And yet Rex Parris is on his fourth term. Why? Because only 11.2% of the people in Lancaster voted. No one is to blame but the people. Some people understand this, and some people keep complaining, instead of seeking a solution, such as voting to make a change. The people have the power to change what they don’t like, but most are too lazy to make the effort.
Alexis says
Jim Ross…In 2012, Carrol Parris served all of her 120 hours of community service. If you want to read about the incident, all you have to do is look up “Rex Parris wife and gun situation.” If you want the facts, most likely you won’t find it here.
In the Know says
She never completed her community service.
move on says
It happened in 2012, move on.
Tim Scott says
LOL…if I was sentenced to community service in 2012 and never completed it, do you think my judge would be willing to just “move on”? Of course if I walked into an airport carrying a gun I wouldn’t have gotten community service in the first place, and we all know it. Wrecks is like D’ump…uses political office as a free pass for himself and his family.
In the Know says
If you or I did not complete our required service, the authorities would not say ‘move on’.
William says
Good riddance to Steve Knight. He woulda been in the House minority anyway and useless as he ever was.
Shane Falco says
Great to see some people of the AV aren’t brain dead. Hofbauer will be better than your soon to be felon ex-mayor.
Tim Scott says
I honestly thought that your concerns about having your real name revealed had banished you forever. Sorry to see you back.
Grim Reaper says
R.I.P. Palmdale.
1962-2018
Tim Scott says
Yup. Glad I disinvested myself.
Doc Rivers says
He’ll be better for Wrecks and the good old boys, that’s for sure. The residents of Palmdale? Not so much.
I Voted says
Today we find out if Palmdale voters are as easily duped by the Lancaster Political Machine as Lancaster voters are. Let us hope that Wrecks and his puppets are defeated and finally stay out of Palmdale’s business. Wishful thinking, of course.
What You Say Ray says
Palmdale voters are to smart to fall for the lies of DUI Drew Mercy on behalf of his Rex backed candidates Hoffbauer and Carillo.
Tim Scott says
Let’s hope.

fox has been losing advertizers steadily lately due to the racist and other offensive commentary by their low life hosts such as hannity, ingraham, carlson et al. Even after fox got rid of their sexual harassers like ailes and o’reilly, they still haven’t cleaned up their act. It’s worse than ever as they pass on or even originate trump’s lies.
I already have a habit of avoiding spending money in Lancaster due to the machinations* of one rex parris and his gang of suckups. It’s easy to boycott after it’s made a habit.

Surveys done a few years ago showed that fox news viewers are some of the most MIS- AND UNINFORMED of all the news media watchers. They are likely more uninformed now.
I guess we can include you in that group. I know you are proud of it as are all the rest.
The fact that fox’s rating are high shows that there are lots of uninformed people in this country and many of them voted for trump and now we have the messes that they applauded him for.
BTW The 3 nightly network news shows put fox’s ratings in the gutter….where they belong.

The funniest part of that survey was that people who said they got their news from Fox scored lower on the “informed” scale, on average, than people who said they didn’t watch any news at all.
Wreckstified says
Wrecks has done it again. A new low even by his standards.
Now he is ranting about what he thinks is an ‘inexcusable’ statement by someone who used the word ‘colored’ in reference to racist comments made by a candidate his political machine is backing.
Is he completely whacked? This is from Wrecks the hypocrite who calls black candidates “gang” candidates because….well….they’re black. Right?
What did rex say? “It’s A-OK! If It’s politics” to use racism to win a race?
The man who ran out the back door of city hall when the vote came up for Lancaster to be a “rule of law” city? Then LIED about his not voting on “rule of law” on a Hispanic radio show? Saying he voted against it? You know? A lie?
The man who wants to attract the “Asians and THE Gays” to his blvd cuz they’ll lower crime and raise the education levels.
The man who ran a war against people of color on Section 8?
The man who declares war on gangs that are predominantly filled with POC, but was single handedly responsible for disbanding the AV Human Relations Task Force that had been set up in response to the out of control gangs in the AV, like the nazi lowriders, peckerwoods and skinheads?
The man who slaughtered almost 2,000 family pets because they were owned by black or brown men?
And shamelessly bragged about it at a city council meeting?
The man who used 5.5 million in HUD funds for his social
engineering experiment called the artists lofts? Where if poor folk were to live on his blvd of broken dreams, they would be artsy and, for the most part, pale?
The man now wagging a war against POC who are homeless?
This hypocrite? rex? Really?
We’re supposed to get our panties in a twist over the word color?
And we guess this means rex is OK with steve!
AV Truth says
Both Wrecks and Hofbauer have a history of making racist comments. Both are connected with DUI Drew and the Lancaster political Maxine. Coincidence?
LCD says
Rex is one matter, and never voted for him. Steve Hofbauer does NOT have a history of racist comments! Shame on your false statement.
Tim Scott says
Yes, actually he does. When the lawsuit over districting was being fought the courts conclusion that lack of districting meant poor representation was pretty obvious. The decision that it was more likely than not racially motivated was based largely on Hofbauer’s deposition, where his history of racist remarks was discussed under oath and couldn’t be denied.
Anyone who takes the time to go through the record from the lawsuit will know that the false statement here is from you LCD.
LCD says
Your comment is laughable, Tim Scott. Anyone who has taken the time to gather all the facts can see it was NOT Hofbauer. This lawsuit included Lancaster and Palmdale which included Parris and Ledford. Your comment is a complete fallacy, and your lies are shameful. Provide the link that anywhere, Steve Hofbauer has a history of racist remarks. You have been caught in too many lies to ever be credible, and unfortunately there are some people that read your comments, and will be too lazy to seek out the truth.
Tim Scott says
I don’t have a link, but I do have a pdf file of the transcript of Hofbauer’s deposition that I would e-mail to anyone who wants it.
Meanwhile, if you think that a lawsuit against the city of Palmdale didn’t involve taking depositions from other council members besides Ledford you would have to be too stupid to type, so I assume you are just trying to be misleading.
Anyone who is interested in that transcript can e-mail me at timshatemail@gmx.com and I’ll be happy to share.
Union Made says
Read the Deposition as it is plain as day what Hofbauer said and wrote.
Union Made says
Hofbauer is a closet racist!!
Mad as Hell says
Hofbauer is a closet racist!!
Vic says
Tim Scott knows, as we do, the propaganda coming from the Lancaster Political Machine. After Hofbauer and Carrillo are defeated, it will be full steam ahead to remove Bishop and Hofbauer from doing Lancaster’s bidding in Palmdale’s affairs. Both of them are better suited for Lancaster shenanagins anyway.
Tim Scott says
Closet? Sellout Steve’s racism escaped the closet a long time ago. All Rex’s horses and all Rex’s men can’t put that closet together again. Of course, Rex doesn’t mind a fellow racist as his pawn, but hopefully it will help keep Hofbauer from being a really useful pawn.
Just Say No says
LCD, are you on LSD? Go ask The NAACP.
Called Me Out says
Steve Hofbauer has a long history of making cute and funny quips about just about everybody. He made a formal apoligy at the Aug. City Council meeting to the NAACP and that is in the archive on the city website. No ethnic group has been spared by his cute remarks. We have the screenshots to back it up. He is not a community leader and Its all in his deposition that Rex took over the voting rights lawsuit.
I will stick with facts. says
Palmdale settled which includes Mayor Ledford, and Lancaster did not. You’re blaming the wrong guy. Not surprised.
Tim Scott says
Hey Facts,
You apparently didn’t follow. We’re talking about the lawsuit against PALMDALE. Yes, LANCASTER “didn’t settle.” Nor did Seattle, or Honolulu, or Boston, or Belgium. Neither did Guatamala, the United Nations, or MIcrosoft. Neither did I, and I assume that you didn’t either.
In a lawsuit against Palmdale, the ONLY settlement will be by Palmdale. That’s how that works. As to “that includes Mayor Ledford,” indeed it did, since he was the mayor. It also included Sellout Steve Hofbauer, since he was on the city council. It also included every resident of Palmdale. But the one with the deposition full of racist incidents and comments was Sellout Steve.
I personally think the city should have implemented a districting plan on our own as soon as there was a hint of a lawsuit, or even before. Since we didn’t, we had to not only come up with a plan, but we had to negotiate every step along the way with the court and with a hostile lawyer who was only involved to drag the proceedings out as long as possible and cost Palmdale as much as possible.
Doc Rivers says
Who did the NAACP demand an apology with? The truth is out there if you are willing to remove your cabesa from the rectum of Marvin and Raymond.
LCD says
You’re all a bunch of cackling hens that believe the lies you’ve been telling each other for years. Rex Parris demanded an apology from the NAACP, and he didn’t get it. Has nothing to do with Hofbauer. The truth is Hofbauer is not a racist. When ever people want to play dirty and spread falsehood, just call someone a racist. The usual suspects have been commenting on here spreading the usual lies. No facts at all, right? None of you can prove what you say. Let’s see some proof. I thought not.
Tim Scott says
As I already said once, I have a pdf file of the transcript of Sellout Steve’s deposition that I will happily forward to anyone who asks for it.
timshatemail@gmx.com for people who don’t have access to my regular e-mail addresses.
LCD, if you really want proof it’s readily available…so why don’t you take a look?
Just Say No says
LCD, you are as dumb as Marvin. The NAACP demanded an apology from Hofbauer for his racist remarks. Go online and watch for yourself.
You are pathetic.
Now the DUI Drew led Hofbauer campaign was itoday telling people that if Ledford is re-elected that it will cost the people of Palmdale $250,000 for bail to get you him of jail. A bunch of pathetic liars. They are really playing dirty.
Cora says
You’re wasting your time with these people that only know how to sling name calling and insults.
Larry says
Cora, hiw’s The Kool Aid? The truth is a bitter pill to swallow. The people have had enough of the Lancaster lies.
Doris Tally says
I am offended my children have to doubt our westside councilman may like to tell off color ethnic jokes on social media. HUH!! I will not support Hofblower for anything, enough!
Fact says
NAACP legal action against both cities. Both Mayor Ledford and Mayor Parris equally adamant tough stance on Section 8 not racially motivated. Meanwhile the First African Methodist Church is firebombed in Palmdale, along with vandalism occurring at Section 8 houses. Steve Hobauer is Not a racist, but apparently there are a lot of people that live in Palmdale and Lancaster that are.
truth says
Truth is, racism permeates both Palmdale and Lancaster. Steve Hofbauer is not a racist, but you should remind yourselves about what happened in your own city of Palmdale, and what is still going on. Remember what happened at the First African Methodist Episcopal Church in the fine city of Palmdale? Remember the vandalism on Section 8 Houses in the fine city of Palmdale? Plenty of racism on a daily basis from the citizens of both cities.
Alexis says
July 29, 2013: (My views on racial hate crimes in the A.V.). Read this article in the A.V. Times. and educate yourselves.
Alexis says
under Palmdale’s façade lies a very long history of racial violence. “Department of Justice Civil Rights Division.” Palmdale is no better than Lancaster when it comes to crimes against minorities. The AME Church in Palmdale can attest to that, so instead of pointing fingers at an elected official, why don’t you address the ignorance that leads to violence in your own community.
Tim Scott says
Being an elected official puts a person in the public eye. Just because I contest against Sellout Steve’s racism in the public eye, where he has placed himself, don’t assume that I don’t fight the same battle outside the public eye with people who have not placed themselves in it.
Though, for the record, very often this sort of battle held in the public eye is a very good way to impact that widespread ignorance of which you speak. Allowing racism in the town square invites it into the town’s homes. Rejecting it in the town square sends the opposite message. A very good reason to reject Sellout Steve come Tuesday…and again two years later. Personally, I think his selling out to the Lancaster power brokers is an even better reason, but that doesn’t mean his racism isn’t a good one.
Larry G. says
Not only is he Sellout Steve and Slimy Steve but he is also Stretch the Truth Steve. He says he is a Fireman. B.S. He might have worked for the Fire Dept. But was no Fireman. He was an EMT. He is just like his Daddy Marv Crist who loves to point to his Fireman years. Marv was with the Fire Dept. At least Stretch the Truth Steve did not get fired for selling dope like Marvin did.
These two idiots are pieces of work.
Let's be nice says
Palmdale florist Chris Spicher, and Lancaster social media marketer Jim Greenleaf, began an effort to encourage civility between the two cities with an initiative called “AV Nice.” Isn’t it wonderful to see nice people doing nice things in both cities. The constant drama that a few want to hang on to does nothing but hurt both cities. Words from a developer that works in both cities.
Tim Scott says
“Be nice” is fine. “Cooperation” is a two way street, and when one end of the street is being embezzled into bankruptcy there isn’t much available to flow the other way. So until Lancaster overcomes their corruption problem it’s fine to be nice, but Palmdale needs to keep a hand on our wallet.
Let's be nice says
Isn’t it wonderful that over the years so many nice people that live in Palmdale, Lancaster, and the surrounding areas come together in unity where there is no curtain; just love and cooperation.
Marv Is My daddy says
Wrecks’ idea of cooperation is do as I say. Only complete morons or the Hofbauer-Carrillo team are either unable to comprehend that or they are bought off.
Nice try, you drunk.
Let's be nice says
I am one person that loves what Chris Spicher is doing! Thank you to all of the thousands of nice people that contribute. Keep the negative people out of your mind, and focus on the positive things that make Palmdale and Lancaster a wonderful place to live!
Let's be nice says
Thank you, Local Legends Committee! Thank you to all those bringing out nice conversation and nice people in the community one smile at a time.
Van Dammit says
Whatever you are smoking, I would like some. Cooperation to Paris means do as I say. You cannot possibly be that naive.
Let's be nice says
Check out the wonderful videos provided by AV Nice! Nice people in Palmdale and Lancaster telling their stories. Nice people uplifting us with positive stories, rising above the hate.
Wrecks Is Not Nice says
Those videos are very nice. What is not nice is the track record of Wrecks and his associates in their dealings with Palmdale. They sued Palmdale and Santa Clarita and other school districts for voting districts he will not use himself. Wrecks has attempted to ruin Palmdale residents through the DA’s office, tried to stop the power plant, wants to take Palmdale’s sales tax dollars through a sham sharing agreement, badmouths Palmdale every chance he has, and was suspiciously ready to offer a deal to Kinkisharo to build in Lancaster after his lackey and their so-called ‘environmental’ group killed the project in Palmdale.
Search the the AV Time for his bogus press conference where he calls for an end to the ‘Cactus Curtain’ and then reads a list of demands.
The AV is a wonderful place. It has a problem though, and it’s name is Wrecks. Not even those nice videos can hide his blemish on this place.
No Wrecks says
Those videos show the good. There is a lot of good. Wrecks and his mionions are not good. They do harm to Palmdale and Santa Clarita. Just say no to Wrecks backed candidates.
Tim Scott says
“Social media marketer” Jim Greenleaf is taking this opportunity to try to drum up some traffic for his AV Nice website. I have no problem with that. People on the other side of the Cactus Curtain are just as likely to be good people as the people on this side of it. But until the government of Lancaster changes significantly Lancaster needs to be politically quarantined for the protection of everyone.
Let's be nice says
There is no curtain between Palmdale and Lancaster, for all the people of good will, doing nice things for each other. Rising above the hateful rhetoric, and staying focused on love, and being respectful toward fellow man, even when we have different views.
Peace in the AV says
Exactly on point. The good people of Lancaster and Palmdale live, work, and play together in peaceful harmony. It is the political machine of Wrecks who work to harm others. It will be a great day in this Valley when Wrecks, Marv, Drew, Hof, and their ilk go away.
Let's be nice says
Sorry, Tim, I have never met Chris Spicher who started Av Nice, nor have I met Jim Greenleaf. They don’t need any business drummed up for AV Nice. There are thousands of people from Palmdale, Lancaster, and surrounding areas that are nice people, doing nice things for this wonderful A. V. Please keep up the positive attitude, and good works nice people.
AV Observer says
Let’s Be Nice is right. There are thousands of people from Palmdale, Lancaster, and surrounding areas that are nice people doing nice things for this wonderful A.V.
Wrecks and his cohorts are not among them.
William says
AV Nice is a wonderful endeavor by good people. Wrecks, Marv, Hof, Carrillo, and Bishop are not interested in wonderful endeavors or being nice people. They are sleazy power hungry individuals who can care less about the people of the Valley. Lancaster especially should worry about it own many problems.
I'm for Palmdale says
Hey, Steve Hofbauer. It keeps being said that you are a tool of rex parris over in L-town. Is that true?
Also, it is also said that you would vote for sales tax revenue sharing with L-town as well.
If so, you are not for Palmdale and should be relieved of your council seat next election once District 2 residents learn more about you.
I’ll do my best to inform them.
Stolen name says
I think someone stole Tim Smith’s name. This new Tim is so much nicer on his debates and doesn’t use the big words The old Tim used. We got an imposter.
Tim Scott says
Who the heck is Tim Smith?
Stolen name says
Scott my bad.
Grandma Police says
Scott/Smith. There’s no real difference, well, ‘cept for the spelling.
James S Stouvenel says
I heard that the AV Times is going to write a story on me. I hope it’s a nice story and not just people looking to complain about me.
