PALDMALE – The Palmdale City, located at 700 E. Palmdale Blvd., will host a 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Celebration on Saturday, Jan. 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is free.

Families and children of all ages are invited to the Library to celebrate those who have completed the ‘1,000 Books Before Kindergarten’ challenge and enjoy crafts, games, story times, and other goodies.

“1,000 books can seem like a daunting goal, but the real heart of this challenge is encouraging your child to read and develop necessary literacy skills that will prepare them for Kindergarten and beyond,” said Library Director Robert Shupe. “We have already seen several young ones accomplish this challenge with their families and we want to see many, many more.”

The Palmdale City Library is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, from 1 to 5 .pm. For more information, call the Palmdale City Library at 661-267-5600 or TDD 267-5167 or visit www.cityofpalmdale.org/library.
