LANCASTER – The city of Lancaster is marking its post-pandemic reopening with a public celebration on The BLVD next week, officials announced Friday.

Themed “Welcome Back Lancaster: Stronger Together,” the event will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, in downtown Lancaster. The event will feature live entertainment, children’s activities, vendors, a beer garden, special photo opportunities, displays, and more.

“After a difficult 17 months of life in a pandemic, the city is now able to hold large community events once again… During this event in downtown Lancaster, we’ll get to see a piece of each event that went virtual or got postponed, from the Easter Eggstravaganza to A Magical BLVD Christmas,” according to a news release promoting the event.

The official opening ceremony for the event will begin at 6:50 p.m. at Ehrlich Avenue, with a tribute to “the heroes in our community who have sustained our city since March 2020,” according to the news release. The event will conclude with fireworks.

For more information about this event, contact Lancaster’s Parks, Recreation, Arts, and Community Services Department at 661-723-6077.

        Wow!

That was actually funny. I suspected that you had it in you!

Marv: We have the lowest vaccination rates in the entire county. Should we do something about it?

Wrecks: How about a super spreader event?

So Wrecks the ‘if you are not vaccinated you are killing people-you can’t work in Lancaster if you’re not vaccinated -you will die if you’re not vaccinated’ guy is throwing a bash where there will be unvaccinated people rubbing elbows, drinking, getting in each other’s faces, touching, and so on.

Can he make up his mind?

Y’know… I think that might just be the best, most insightful comment I’ve seen on this site ever.

Very confusing this situation: in one hand there is a big surge of COVID-19 hospitalizations and cases in the AV, but the city is going ahead with a mass event, that can potentially become a super spreader event? Mixed messages, no wonder the population is confused.

Will Rex ban anyone not vaccinated?
How many panhandlers will be there?
Will Rex and Marv pontificate on how great the BLVD is even though most places that open are closed in short order?
Does Pastor Paul approve of all the alcohol sales and consumption on the BLVD?
Will Rex make a sweep of the homeless and push them into the desert for his big production?

    Inquiring minds want to know.

Rex did say once that the BLVD was better than Disneyland.

        ….

He does say a lot of bizarre things, doesn’t he? Yet the Lancaster Lemmings keep him at the helm. It’s terrible for the residents but it is entertaining listening to this fool try to come off as an intellectual. It’s downright hysterical.

I still can’t believe Rex wasn’t forced to resign when he went on TV and lied about how a mentally ill person shot a sheriff deputy from a building next to the station. They had the whole area shut down with hundreds of sheriffs and vehicles all over. They raided people’s apartments looking for a shooter that never existed. It was a big fat lie. What do you think the cost was for that? If you all up all the millions of dollars Rex has cost the taxpayers through his lies and insider deals like LEAPS, he is undoubtedly the biggest failure this Valley has ever seen. Not even Ron Smith was this inept.
