AZUSA – A 21-year-old Palmdale man was arrested for allegedly stealing a car and leading Azusa police on a chase on Monday.
Police said they initiated a pursuit of a reportedly stolen vehicle at 9:39 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, when the suspect began driving at high speeds and made numerous vehicle code violations. The vehicle entered the westbound 210 Freeway before abruptly exiting at the Buena Vista off-rap in Duarte.
After a few more minutes, police halted the pursuit for public safety reasons, but the suspect was located a short time later “with the help of several citizens” and detained by deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Temple station near Huntington Drive and Buena Vista Street.
John Tan, 21, of Palmdale was eventually taken into custody by Azusa police officers, according to a news release from the Azusa Police Department. Tan is being held on $75,000 bail.
