POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony set for Thursday

POW-MIA ceremony previewPALMDALE – The Antelope Valley Service Organization Association and the city of Palmdale will hold a POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony this Thursday, Sept. 15.

It starts at 11 a.m. at Poncitlán Square, located at 38315 9th Street East (between Avenues Q-9 and Q-10).

The annual event, which is free and open to the public, honors prisoners of war and the men and women of the military who are missing in action. Attendees should bring a lawn chair and sun umbrella to the event.

The master of ceremonies will be Bobby Breech, and the invocation and benediction will be presented by Gary Basset. Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford will provide welcome remarks. Major Conrad Hernandez and the Highland High School Air Force JROTC will conduct the Posting of Colors, lead the Pledge of Allegiance and conduct the Table of Honor ceremony.

Guest speakers will be Ken Branam, Commander of American Legion Post 348, and Terry Hopper, Commander of VFW Post 3552.
