Artisans sought for Kaleidoscope: Art & Music Festival

by The AV Times Staff • August 22, 2016

Kaleidoscope logoPALMDALE – The city of Palmdale is putting out a call for artisans to participate in a new art and music festival called Kaleidoscope, coming to the Palmdale Amphitheater on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The art and music event will feature stages of live music and visual and performing arts, artisan vendors and wares, food, educational displays and craft beers with The Art of The Brew. Live music will be performed by Phat Cat Swinger, The High D Boys and the L.A. Cast of Beatlemania.

Artisans who work in mediums of blown glass, jewelry, printmaking, ceramics, leather, sculpture, clothing and textiles, mixed media, woodwork, fused glass, painting, illustration, photography and other forms of art are encouraged to apply for a booth.

Booths are available for $100, which is refundable. Insurance is required.

The application can be found here or at www.palmdaleamphitheater.com, and should be submitted before Sept. 22.

The completed application should be accompanied by a submission of six photos of the artist’s work, a biography or an artist’s statement. Details are available on the application.

“Kaleidoscope is a unique art show of exhibitors who create original artwork, providing an opportunity for the general public to learn, enjoy and appreciate art and culture,” said Palmdale Director of Recreation and Culture Keri Smith.  “To meet this purpose, Kaleidoscope is open to all artists as a place for the presentation and sale of their original, creative designs and work.”

As part of the event’s mission, exhibitors will be required to provide an informational display for visitors that highlights the artist’s work, provides a background biography, and provides information on how the artwork was created.  Examples include a photo display, video, or published articles with a description of how the art/craft was created.  A demonstration of an essential element of the art/craft in the booth is highly desirable.

Kaleidoscope is sponsored by American Medical Response, AVTA, Waste Management, Coca-Cola, Antelope Valley Mall, Valleywide Dental, Opportunities for Learning, Sierra Medical Group, AV Furniture & Mattress, Hilton Garden Inn, Lancaster JetHawks, Ventura Graphix and Vince’s Pizza & Pasta – Palmdale.
