PALMDALE – Team 8714 Alloymantulas, a FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team from The Palmdale Aerospace Academy, will be hosting a fundraising business mixer this Saturday to support its 2015-2016 build season.
The eighth-graders have partnered with the Antelope Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to present a “Business Mixer Expo Fundraiser,” from 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Palmdale Aerospace Academy, located at 38060 20th Street East in Palmdale. [View a flyer for this event here.]
The event will feature music, food, raffle prizes, face painting, a jumper for children and more, according to Team Captain Andrew Guerra .
“Robotics is the future, and by attending you’re helping students with their future careers in robotics. You will also have a chance to meet local community leaders and businesses,” Guerra said.
Admission to this event is $10, and vendor tables are $25.
All proceeds will be used to help Team 8714 Alloymantulas buy the parts needed to build this year’s robot – “not just the robot but team spirit as well,” Guerra said.
“By supporting the team, you will be supporting the future doctors, scientists, teachers and engineers,” Guerra added. “Kids that are in robotics have a higher chance of going to college and being productive members of society. Like we always say, robotics is not just a club, it’s a lifestyle.”
