PALMDALE – Free summer robotics workshops, sponsored by NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center and the AERO Institute, will be held on three Wednesdays in July, according to organizers.
The Lego workshops will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. July 8, July 15 and July 22 at the AERO Institute, located at 38256 Sierra Highway in Palmdale.
The workshops are free to all qualifying students on a first come, first serve basis.
They are geared toward middle school students (those entering fourth through eighth grade this fall). Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or authorized adult with written parental permission.
There will be at least eight student/adult teams in the three-hour workshops. Participants will learn the history of robots and how to build, program and test their Lego robots on a playing field.
To register for any of these student-based workshops, contact Ivan Salazar at 661-276-7720 or email ivan.r.salazar@nasa.gov at least one week before the workshop. Provide the full names of participants, grade level for the students, email address, phone number and number attending with the group.
Lego kits and computers will be provided for all participants, free of charge, at the workshop.
For questions or more information about any of the workshops, contact Kirsten Fogg at 661-276-2376 or email kirsten.m.fogg@nasa.gov. Organizers reserve the right to cancel a workshop at any time due to lack of participants.
