Palmdale Playhouse announces full menu of holiday treats

PALMDALE – The Palmdale Playhouse has announced its schedule of fun-filled events and performances for the upcoming holiday season.

The annual Holiday Open House kicked off the holiday season Wednesday, Nov. 19 with holiday decorations, treats and a visit from St. Nick himself.

The remaining Open House dates and times are: Dec. 3, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Dec. 10, from 4 to 9 p.m.; and Dec. 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is free, and photos with Santa cost $5.

Music and dance are also part of the holiday fun.

The Playhouse stage comes alive at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, as the Palmdale Theater Dance Company presents Christmas Celebration.

“Your toes will be tapping to an exciting holiday dance production set to tunes like ‘Christmas of Love,’ ‘Song for Santa’ and ‘It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,’” stated Recreation Supervisor Annie Pagliaro. Tickets are $7.

On Saturday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m., the Palmdale Junior Ballet presents The Nutcracker Story.

Toymaker Herr Drosselmeyer will tell the enchanting and magical tale of Clara and her Nutcracker in The Nutcracker Story Ballet. This abridged version will feature the Sugar Plum Fairy, Nutcracker Prince and many more of favorite Nutcracker pieces. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors, students, military and children 12 and under.

On Saturday, Dec. 13, at 7:30 p.m., the Playhouse presents Sister’s Christmas Catechism: The Mystery of the Magi’s Gold.

It will be one “O-ho-ho holy night” as Sister tackles the question, “Whatever happened to the Magi’s gold?” It’s CSI: Bethlehem when Sister invites her audience to be characters in a living nativity/crime scene! Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for seniors, students, military and children 12 and under.

On Friday, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m., the West Coast Classical Flute Choir, String Orchestra, Wind Ensemble and Jazz Combo present Swing in the Holidays. Under the co-direction of Patricia Graham and Jeff Kaser, this performance will feature favorite holiday tunes gift wrapped in a delightful concert. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors, students, military and children 12 and under.

On Saturday, Dec. 20, at 7:30 p.m., the West Coast Classical Concert and Symphonic Orchestra present Twas The Night Before Christmas. Under the co-direction of Patricia Graham and Jeffrey Kaser, this holiday concert will feature “Faith Noel” and “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors, students, military and children 12 and under.
