PALMDALE – The city of Palmdale continues its “Season of Service” program with a cleanup event this weekend.

The “Global Youth Service Day” cleanup kicks off at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, April 19, at Marie Kerr Park, located at 2723 Rancho Vista Blvd. in Palmdale.

The event is part of the City’s participation in the “National Day of Service” in recognition Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. All participants must complete a Release of Liability form, which is available at www.cityofpalmdale.org or at event registration.

Participants should wear closed-toe shoes, be prepared to walk over uneven terrain, and use work gloves and sun protection. Water will be provided. Verification of service hours is available.

Youth, families and the young at heart are invited to participate in a park beautification at one of Palmdale’s most beloved parks.  This project has also been elected as a 2014 Keller Williams Red Day Event.

The final project in the “Season of Service” will be the “Mormon Helping Hands Day” event on Saturday, April 26. Sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, residents are encouraged to participate in a makeover of Desert Sands Park, 39117 3rd Street East in Palmdale.
